BRACKETS

The Rules
1. Killing/character mutilation is allowed but please don't do it in the 1st frame :P
2. Each round will be judged by a panel of 3 judges (depending on how many I can receive)
3. Characters may be new or old, but please have them set up before your first round starts. Along with that include a full list of powers and abilities, as well as style, so your opponent knows what to expect and can voice your character as you meant it. Also PLEASE include any "uber" moves in this list, no secrets here! Please make them original characters as well.
4. Duelling rounds are going to be held in the Art Special Event subforum, I will create the topics and end them with critiques from each judge.
5. Please only have the artists post in their own round, a discussion topic will be set up once the tourney starts.
6. If you can, please advertise this, we here at GA would greatly appreciate new members coming in! Have a friend who isn't part of GW? Invite him to register and join anyway!
7. Pixel art IS allowed, so is traditional painting. It just has to be something we can see here.
8. NO GODMODING.
9. There is a tenatative deadline of a week for each participant's entry to be submitted. If you have a problem with this please PM me.

The System
The comics that are being drawn will be non-sequential. This means that each artist gets their own parallel universe to draw "what-ifs" of their fight. Each participant will get a week to draw however many pages/how ever much art the feel they need, but don't expect to win with just one page. This simplifies the process so that every fight ends at the same time and we can move forward more quickly. Also it allows for more creativity as the artists don't have to worry about keeping the other character intact. Due to this change killing and character mutilation will be allowed this time around since no changes to the character are permanent. Just don't kill the other guy in the first frame; it would make the fight really boring and you would probably lose.

Judging System
Voting or Rating the battles is broken down into three Categories: Quality, Creativity, and Entertainment. The following is a baseline on what to be aware of when you're rating battles.
Quality: aesthetic value of the art. Try to limit your decision solely on how the battle looks visually. Things to note include: Cleanliness/Clarity, Mark making, Visual Appeal, and Layout Impact
Creativity: the ideas presented in the battle--how unique and different from the norm the battle is. A battle could look very good, and be very entertaining, but if it's just a recycled and redundant idea, then the Creativity score should be low. Inversely, a battle may be drawn poorly, and be very dull, but if the concepts and ideas are totally original, then it should get a high score for Creativity.
Entertainment: the writing or the scripting of the battle; the artist’s ability to tell a story visually. If you were bored, or inversely completely satisfied with the battle, rate accordingly.

At the end of the round, each judge will submit a numbered point value (on the scale of 1-10, 10 being best) for each criteria for each participant. The participant with the highest combined score will win the round and move forward. In case of a tie, special guest judge Eternal_l3lue will make the final decision.

There will be an endurance round after everyone has submitted their characters. No one will be disqualified, it will be used to judge the skill of the participants so we may seed the tournament correctly. The endurance round will consist of you submitting a small comic detailing the backstory of your character.

Edit: there were concerns of the battle images taking up too much space in the GW uploader last time, so if you want you can PM me your images and I can host them on my modspace.

Also if you have your characters ready you can post them here. I'll make an endurance round topic and a discussion topic tomorrow in the Special Events forum.

Edit: Here's mine (already had him lined up heh)

Max Phantom

Weapon: Tarot Deck. He also keeps a Deringer in an ankle holster after an attempt was made on his life, but he only uses it if the situation gets very bad.
Powers: Various and evolving depending on which card he is using. For instance there could be a "shield" card and he could palm it and block attacks using the card in his palm. Or there could be a "dragon" card which he could throw at the opponent and it could erupt in flames. There are quite a few possibilities, too many to mention here, but because of that they aren't the be all and end all of attacks. So while he has a near infinite number of possiblities, his attacks are straight forward and rely entirely on the cards that he is using. Assume for the purposes of the fight that he has one of each card, but may pick them up and re-use them (if thrown). He has also used each card at least once before, so he knows which effect each one will have. Just be creative with the powers, and have some fun with it Smile

Combo Powers: In an attempt to make my character a bit more powerful I'm adding several fairly big "combo powers" which revolve around using combinations of different cards used together. He can only use one of these per fight, and is extremely weakened from the concentration required to pull off such moves.

Magician + Strength- Max's "Signature" move. This is the least strenuous of the combo attacks, and it boosts Max's physical strength (him being the Magician), allowing him to pull off feats no human would normally be capable of doing. It is slightly more powerful than aldrenaline when used alone, but it also stacks with the effects of aldrenaline.
Every card in the Sword Suit (2-Ace)- When all of these cards are used together, a giant shockwave emerges from Max, blowing dust and the opponent backwards, but doing no real damage (lol dramatic effect). When all the dust is settled, the cards have merged into a sword (think claymore-sized) that Max can use as a weapon. It is light weight and unbreakable, with a razor sharp edge. An elemental card (Sun, Moon, The World, Star) can be combined in this combo to give the sword an elemental property, but it isn't neccessary.
The Wheel of Fortune + Death- Although the Death card is useless on its own, when combined with the wheel of fortune, it randomly kills either Max or the combatant. Max has never used this move before, and has only learned of its existance through study.
Temperance + Justice + The Ace of Cups- This combo takes any project fired towards Max and immediately sends it in the opposite direction. However, for the move to the effective the projectile must be fairly slow moving, or else Max needs to be very lucky in his timing.
Every card in the Pentacle Suit (2-Ace) + Devil- This is the most powerful combo Max possesses. The Pentacle cards must be arranged in a pentagram, with the Devil card being placed in the center. Doing this summons a portal to Hell and one of two things can happen: 1. Max may use portals to travel around the arena undetected, or 2. He may summon a lesser demon to aide him in battle, but he cannot portal-walk when doing this.

Backstory: This is just a barebones version, the rest will be in the endurance round. Essentially he is a stage magician specializing in manipulation and sleight of hand. (Due to this, he can seemingly pull his tarot cards out of thin air.) He comes upon a deck of Tarot cards and is astounded to find out that they imbue him with the power stated on the card. He always goes by his stage name, Max Phantom, and no one except for his parents even remember what his real name is. He fights in his stage magic get-up which is a simple purple vest with a white undershirt and khakis. He is often most recognized for his shiny blond hair and his constant grin. He is an overconfident man, and relies on dirty tricks (being an illusionist) to pull him out of the hard places. Even thought he is overconfident, he is also very calculating and will set up complex strategies during a fight.

Drawing Details: Even though I didn't draw his feet in the picture, he wears white and black two-tone shoes, like these. His eyes are constantly covered by his hair, and he always has a sideways grin on his face, even when the situation is dire, like he is hiding a secret weapon (he is often not actually hiding a secret weapon). Although it may be sort of hard to see, he has a large but thin nose that protrudes quite a bit (but not comically so). I apologize for the poor coloring I was just trying to quickly get a scheme down.

Lavata Oricuna

Weapon: The ability to manipulate darkness and Dark Orbs which he throws at the enemy.

Powers: His power? Lavata manipulates the element of Darkness and wields it to a great extent. Using it he can pull of a nice variety of actions upon the battle field, some of which are:

Invisibility: Lavata fades away from view and is not able to be seen by the naked eye alone. However, Lavata is only able to stay in a state of invisibility for a maximum of 1 minute. Because of the short duration of the skill he only uses it if the situation calls for it, or if he needs time to regenerate a bit of lost energy without much interference.

Shadow Travel: Lavata can travel through the shadows in any given area. However, without shadows this  technique can not be used. He can remain within the shadows for however long he wishes.

Dark Orb: Lavata generates a sphere of dark energy and throws it at his opponent. Upon impact the orb causes an explosion. The larger the orb is the bigger the explosion on impact.

Dark Wire: Lavata generates long, razor-sharp wires in which extend from the tips of his fingers. They are used mostly as a trap beforehand, when he actually knows what he is going after.

Generation of Darkness: Lavata summons a large ammount of energy and  covers the entire battlefied in a shroud of shadows. The effect lasts for 3 minutes.

Flaring Ground Sword: Lavata gathes a great ammount of energy in his hand and slamns it down upon the battlefield. This causes a great, vertical wave of enegy to rip through the earth and stream towards the enemy. It can rip solid rock clean in half.

Enhanced Strength: Lavata has much more strength then an average human. However, it is nothing overwhelming seeing as he does not rely on brute strength.

Enhanced Durability: He also has a much higher durability. He can take alot of punishment before breaking down.

Enhanced Speed: Lavata's speed is also enchanced greatly.

Dome Of Protection: Lavata summons a dome of shadows to cover him. On the outside of the dome it gets entirely covered in razor-sharp spikes, rendering physical attacks (with ones fists, etc.) virtually useless. The spikes are not indestructible.

Shadow Body Manipulation:
When using this technique Lavata reverts some of his body into a shadow-like state and either: A) Throws it somewhere, forging it into a weapon from there and later shooting it a the enemy.  B) Makes a weapon such as a claw, a sword, etc. Or C) Creates extra eyes, mouthes, or hands.

Power Enhancement: Revealing The True Self: Lavata uses this technique if he finds that he is having a hard time in his normal body. He morphs into his "second stage" and gets a great power boost. More about this bellow.

Backstory: (This is only the bare-bones) Lavata is a member of Dark heaven, a criminal organization in which consists of individuals in whom are extremely deadly. Lavata is ranked #4 out of 6 (1 being the highest and most powerful) and is rather weak compared to the rest. He is a silent killer and, even since his childhood, has been on countless killing sprees. Lavata is sort of crazy and demented, loving to see others get hurt and feel pain. However, he hates the sight of his own blood.

Drawing Details: Lavata's hair flows upward, hanging down a bit on the back and falling over the  the right side of his face in the front. He has long ears and has triangular markings on his jaw. The jacket he wears is always open and extends downward in an upside down V-type shape, ending at his heel. He has no shirt and wears long black boots and baggy pants, the pants having the same design on them as the sleeves of his jacket do (down at the base). He also has ear rings in both ears and a small piece of armor on his left shoulder which bears a large spike that extends back.
=========================================

Lavata's "second Phase", after using Power Enhancement: Revealing The True Self:. Lavata has all the same moves as before except now each one has a decent boost in power. He also becomes faster, more durable, more physically strong, and has a stronger grip over the shadows. In this form, he looks like:

Hope this is good =)

awesome. >:D this is going to be good practice.
i've got some ideas for my character. i'll sketch 'em up later. i'm thinking of using an existing character of mine, one from my manga. i've been having trouble drawing fight scenes lately, especially with him, so i'm thinking it'd be a good idea to use him in this. hmm... (by the way, the character i'm thinking of is Bentin, who i have posted pics of before here in GA. he can control rocks and plants. y'know, nature stuff.)

Name: Pressure and Time (Pressure is pictured below)

Weapon/Power: Pressure and Time practices a school of psionics that projects his body's force and solidifies it into a gem-like material. Pressure practices a style of psionics where he concentrates and expands his force into overwhelming waves of force to crush the other combatant. Pressure is exceedingly powerful in maintaining and manipulating en mass the torrential psychic force that he projects. Years of practice has given him a heavy build as his body directly feeds the force that he manipulates; his body is a monument to the intense amount of power he can generate with his intimate abilities of power and mind.

Time maintains the same commitment to his training as his brother, but in contrast to the overwhelming rush of power that Pressure uses, Time chooses to maintain a purity of speed and deadly accuracy. The forces he conjures are condensed into crystalline weapons with which he is a master-wielder. Time also has expanded his psionic focus to bring in other schools in order to raise his level to a deadly edge.

Backstory: Born into a famous monastary, the twin boys were never given names as were the custom to the monks living there. Trained in the martial arts, the boys proved that their natural intuitive connection was something to be reckoned with. However, as their psionic abilities grew, the two decided that the expansive possibilities of their psionic gifts would enable new and more effective options of fighting. Their cooperative decision to pursue two methods of training ensured superiority in a large range of combat and each young man took the name of a philosophical aspect of effort. Having discovered a tournament hosting a number of champions of vastly different backgrounds, the twins have decided to test their decision and join the fray.

Drawing Directions: Both twins are dressed alike though Pressure is much bulkier than his still quite built twin. Each has a crystal blue horn growing from the side of their head which hints at a demonic descent. Immaterial ribbons are tied around mid thigh and seem to move with a mind of their own. A large black mask is tied around the head (very similar to Zorro actually). Large bands of ripped black material make up their clothing while a "glove" wraps around the wrist and stretches to attach to a black ring on the middle finger. Their faces are covered in masks because they are so hot it'd be pornographic to depict them. OH! And Pressure has a pencil-sized stick that he sorta carries around.

Oy, here I go.

Name: Khyranne Allenthis

Backstory:
Khyranne is a mage, through and through, and her love of the "ancient art" has endured since her childhood. In an age where technology has started to render the use of magic as a weapon obsolete, Khyranne stands out. She was disowned and cast out of her family at an early age and was forced to live with various friends or on her own for the majority of her youth. She was recruited into a mercenary guild at the age of 15, and remained there for about 7 years until she was recruited into a demon faction. There, she became an apprentice of the greatest demon mage in the land, where she learned many of her techniques. Eventually she would leave the demons and return to being a mercenary. Personality wise, she is somewhat jaded but is still quite headstrong, though she has become somewhat selfish over the years and prefers not to involve herself in the business of others. She is not daunted by fighting or killing thanks to her experience and is not afraid to play dirty or accomplish her ends in less than honorable ways. She has also developed quite a bit of sarcasm and a dry sense of humor over the years, but still gets excited or hotblooded in tough situations. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and can be considered a good person deep inside, it's just that she has been hardened and tempered by a particularly evil world.

Abilities:
Khyranne primarily uses her shotgun as a weapon, and she channels her magic through it. She uses a special kind of ammunition that is able to retain magical enhancements, and her shotgun can hold 8 shots before she has to reload. Before shooting, she can enchant the ammunition to do various things, such as elemental attacks or increased penetration. When she has more time to act, she instead uses one of her more devastating spells, most of which she adopted from her demon teacher. These spells are quite powerful and serve various purposes. Khyranne is physically very athletic and strong enough to take a lot of punishment, and through her magic enhancement she can actually fire her shotgun with one arm. Her common tactic is to use one of her less-expensive instant spells to hinder or stop an enemy so she can either spend time to cast her more powerful spells or retreat to a safe distance. Although she prefers to stay at range as much as possible, her shotgun can prove very dangerous at close range and she has some spells to use for close quarters too. If it comes down to it and she's out of magic options, she's not afraid to use her shotgun (as an improvised melee weapon) or her knife to fight off a close-range fighter. She is a purely offensive fighter so she doesn't possess any spells she can use to heal herself. Here are a list of her usual spells/skills:

SKILLS:

TACTICS:
As stated, Khyr prefers to keep her opponents at a distance, where she can use her ranged spells to take care of them. Most of the time she will use spells like Steel Assault for rapid fire purposes, or Magma Cannon for a more devastating but slower firing shot. She will also use her shotgun spells if necessary depending on the situation, but she prefers to use her spells as much as possible so she can save her ammunition for a more difficult situation (such as when recharging energy). If she has the time to cast the spell, and the energy, she can launch her devastating Diamond Spire, which can easily end a match in one shot. Should it miss, Khyranne might find her energy depleted for a while, forcing her to resort to her shotgun.

For mid to close range, Blast is probably Khyranne's most frequently used spell overall, and she uses variations of the spell in different levels of strength. She primarily uses it to stun or slow the enemy before they can get close, and often follows it up with another spell. She also has a habit of blasting the immediate area around her, creating a sort of ninja smoke bomb effect that she can use to evade an incoming enemy or ruin their visibility. As far as offense at mid-close range goes, she has her shotgun attacks, and she also has spells like Lightning Whip and Frost Blanket. Lightning Whip must be used in quick succession to do any real damage, but Frost Blanket is very concentrated and can freeze an opponent in his or her tracks. Once frozen, she can end a match by simply shooting the frozen opponent. When compromised, Khyranne will quickly erect her Kinetic Barrier which can stop most weapons before hitting her, often giving her enough time to either back off or counter with another spell or shot. This barrier is also applicable to anything that could damage her, especially long range weapons.

For a situation involving several opponents, or an opponent who is either very fast with evasion or can defend well, Khyranne will use her fearsome Star of Power spell, which for all intents and purposes is a remote weapon/bit system of sorts. This spell takes a couple seconds to cast, and as such she has to do it when the enemy is slowed down or preoccupied. Once casted, she essentially summons allies in the form of hovering balls of electricity that fire lightning bolts at any nearby opponents (or can even shoot down slower projectiles). These stars can either revolve around Khyranne, or be sent to act on their own. They will often encircle an opponent and attack from multiple directions. Her ultimate spell, Star of Destruction, works the same way, except instead of firing lightning bolts these stars fire thin laser-like energy bursts at high speed and great precision. Left alone, two stars of destruction can easily shred even an armored opponent into ribbons (unless their armor has magical enhancements). The stars of both spells last for about five minutes unless destroyed or unless Khyranne unsummons them, in which she absorbs their energy back into herself and recharges a bit of her spent energy.

Khyranne's spellcasting is rather unconventional. She concentrates silently (entirely mentally) while focusing energy wherever she needs to (most of the time, her hands), and releases the spells without needing to utter any words. Sometimes, she will utter the names of her spells (namely her super-spells), but these are more her quirks rather than part of the casting procedure. Her energy recharges at an above average rate and due to this, she is able to continue casting spells even in a prolonged battle. The most she ever spends on casting a spell is five seconds, which is quite fast, but in exchange she pays for it by expending more energy. Also, any spell involving the summoning of diamonds as weapons comes with a high cost, since diamond is a very high-end material, and thus she will often make them count, often using them as finishing moves. She can cast Star of Power pretty easily and still continue casting other spells (except high-end ones), but Star of Destruction will leave her too drained to use any spells other than Blast, Kinetic Barrier, or standard shotgun enhancements. Thus, Star of Destruction is also used as a finishing move most of the time, or a last resort when she needs to put down the enemy at all costs. Diamond Spire has a similarly high cost of energy and can take about five seconds to cast as well.

SHOTGUN SPELLS
Frost Shot - enchants the shell to fire a burst of crystals that shatter once leaving the barrel, showering the target with frost.

Flame Shot - enchants the shell to fire exploding shot that burn upon leaving the barrel, creating a burst of flame

Energy Shot - enchants the shell to fire a concentrated burst of energy that can travel a long distance (big laser). This move is quite powerful but can be taxing on her.

Steel/Diamond Slug -  this converts the shell into a metal or diamond slug and fires it. Like a regular shotgun slug, this bullet is better for armor penetration. The diamond version is more powerful and has more penetration capability but takes much more energy.

STeel/Diamond shot - this converts the shot into steel/diamonds, giving them incredible penetration capability. Unlike the above, this shot keeps the spread fire capability. Because transformation into diamonds is a more difficult process, this move can be taxing on her.

Spread Shot - enchants the shot to fire a spread cluster of beams. This is basically an energy version of a regular shotgun shot, except this would have an energy property and would be more powerful.

Smoke Shot - enchants the shot to discharge a large amount of smoke, used more to confuse the opponent

Shock Shot - charges the shot within the shell with electricity. When the shot is fired and the pellets hit, they discharge their electricity on whatever they hit, creating an electric shock.

Kinetic Shot - when shot, the gun fires a powerful, concentrated burst of force (or wind), capable of knocking an opponent back or sending them flying.

CASTED SPELLS

Channeled Hand - Not really a spell, Khyranne puts her palm against an opponent or grabs them and channels some kind of energy (often electricity, but sometimes heat or cold as well). This can be used to disorient an enemy that gets too close, but if Khyranne holds onto them long enough, they could die. She will often use this against melee weapon users, channeling electricity into their weapons and shocking the wielders as a result.

Blast - this quick spell blasts the ground beneath her opponent (or herself), sending dust and debris everywhere. This attack is not very powerful and will hardly damage an armored opponent, but Khyranne can cast this spell instantly and in quick succession. She primarily uses this spell as a way to stun the enemy or confuse them.

Frost Blanket - Khyranne swings her arm in an arc in front of her and unleashes a concentrated burst of frost, freezing everything it hits. This attack is short ranged but covers a wide arc in front of her, making it ideal for stopping enemies that get too close. She often follows this up with a shotgun blast, which could potentially shatter the enemy.

Magma Cannon - Khyranne concentrates a lot of heat and flame into a ball and projects it with great speed. This fireball explodes violently and can light the surrounding area on fire. This could take a while to cast, depending on how powerful she wants it.

Lightning Whip - Khyranne swings her arm, unleashing a lightning bolt that strikes like a whip. This spell is efficent and can be used in quick succession, but does not damage as well. This can be effective in whittling down an opponent before they can get close.

Kinetic Barrier - Khyranne creates a spherical barrier around her. This barrier can resist most weaker attacks and bullets and can deter an approaching enemy, but can be shattered by more powerful attacks (such as a two-handed sword attack or a high caliber round). She uses this as her standard form of armor and it is able to withstand most average attacks at any range.

Steel Assault - Khyranne conjures a series of small steel spikes and fires them in rapid succession, while constantly creating more. This works like a machinegun and since it takes a small amount of energy, she can maintain this attack for a while, but it does force her to concentrate the entire time. She can upgrade these steel spikes into diamond but doing so will make the spell very taxing on her in exchange for the added power.

Star of Power - This spell is one of Khyranne's strongest spells. She creates anywhere between 1 and 4 spheres of electricity that move according to her will. These spheres will constantly shoot bolts of lightning at whatever enemy is close. They can serve as shields, protecting her against any opponent that might get close, or can be used as a devastating offensive weapon that can clear out large numbers of enemies or attack an enemy from many different directions at once. Once these spheres are summoned they become independent, allowing her to do other things. This can take a lot of her energy and takes some time to cast, but is one of her most dangerous abilities.

Diamond Spire - Khyranne creates a 3ft long spire of diamond and projects it at incredible speeds, penetrating anything in its path. This is her single most damaging move, because it can penetrate practically every kind of armor. However, it takes the longest to cast and demands an incredible amount of energy. It is also a very surgical weapon. However, it is often enough to finish off most opponents in one hit, provided they don't dodge.

Star of Destruction - Khyranne's ultimate move, and most powerful spell. This spell works just like Star of Power but instead of firing bolts of lightning, it fires beams of energy in rapid succession. These beams are extremely precise and can cut an opponent into pieces. However, this spell takes an incredible amount of energy, even to make just one star. Khyranne will often use this ability as a last resort.

Drawing Details:
I think her proportions might be off in that drawing, but she's in her late 20's so for all intents and purposes you'll want to draw her like a more mature woman. Her hair is crimson and wavy, and is bound at the top by a spiked brooch type thing. Also I might have drawn her to be too detailed, so feel free to omit or simplify some of the details when drawing her (such as the sash, ammo belt, insignias, or maybe even the green designs on her coat). Her gloves are plated with a sort of black but shiny metal, and that bag on her left hip is a pouch where she keeps important things (band aids?). If you want to get edgy and destroy her clothing in-battle (zomg) she is actually wearing a thin but flexible and durable bulletproof vest under the coat, so it might take  more than just a few scratches to mess her up. Also her gun is based on an Ithaca model 37 shotgun, and I've got a picture of that below (except hers is silver). If you have any questions, or you want to know of any weaknesses to exploit for when you're writing the actual comic, just tell me. I'm going to be drawing a series of reference drawings of her in different angles, as well as detailed pictures of the designs and etc on her, so everything should be pretty clear then. Heh.

Notes

-Since her name is kinda long, feel free to call her Khyr whenever referring to her.
-Her particular time period is more modern, with the technology level being at around WW2.

PRESSURE, PUSHING DOWN ON ME, PRESSING DOWN ON YOU, NO MAN ASKS FOR
UNDER PRESSURE, THAT BURNS A BUILDING DOWN, SPLITS A FAMILY IN TWO, PUTS PEOPLE ON STREETS

OOM BA BA DAY,  OOM BA BA DAY, BE DAY DO, BE DAY DO, THAT'S OKAY

IT'S THE TERROR OF KNOWING WHAT THIS WORLD IS ABOUT, WATCHING SOME GOOD FRIEND SCREAMING, "LET ME OUT"
PRAY TOMORROW GETS ME HIGHER
PRESSURE ON PEOPLE, PEOPLE ON STREETS

Sorry I had to do it MY SENSE OF AWESOME DETECTED WIN IN THIS SECTOR.  MASSIVE QUANTITIES OF WIN.

Question for Medieve's character: Are they fighting togeather? If so, are you going to draw Time so we can get an idea of what he looks like?

They fight one at a time and they basically look alike except Time isn't as bulky.

::EDIT::
Just to clarify the use of the twins. They both merged into each other in order to register as a single combatant; During actual fighting, they may choose to stay in one form, transforming into one twin or the other or they may separate and fight individually.

Iota Erikson

 blah blah blah

This guy is a sand-using leader of a criminal organization. He smokes cigarettes, has lazy eyes and a grin on his face. He also fights just like Iota Erikson.

He called and he wants his stolen character design back.

Ah, I see, then I shall change right away. I used the character because he was one I was using in an RP (based off of Croc, no less) and..well..I already had everything for him. I think I went a little bit overboard there. Anyway, fixing.

I don't really mind myself, it's just common courtesy to give credit where it's due. It's not like this is the tournament for who can come up with the best original character anyway.

But it is more fun to fight with really original characters!

how long should/can the endurance round comics be? oh and when will they endurance comics be due? (for that matter, when are all the character info things due?)
and could you say more about the deatils of how this works and how it will be set up? i'm a bit confused. so, we'll have the endurance round, i get that, and then you'll match us up with an opponent... and how long do we have for each comic? i don't knnow if you said about this before, but i just missed those details. i'd like to know how all this works.
by the way, you should probably PM all the people on the list who you haven't heard from, just to make sure they weren't wrongfully added (in case they don't see this topic).

p.s. i have drawn my character, and i'm just waiting for an opportunity to scan the drawing. i'll probably have the character up later today. :]

I don't really mind myself, it's just common courtesy to give credit where it's due. It's not like this is the tournament for who can come up with the best original character anyway.
The Rules
I just don't want this to turn into the battle of the fanart.

Also mkk: there will be a total drawing of 7 days for each round. Both participants start and end at the same time, drawing their comics. The endurance round I will give a tenative limit of 3 days. Obviously, it will be a shorter comic, 1-2 pages or more if you want.

I think I will PM the rest of the participants though, everyone should post their charactes ASAP.

Lol. Sorry once again. It's just a result of me being a tad on the lazy side (which didn't do much for me =( ). I updated the character, so no need to worry. Will this one work?

Also, I have a question about the endurance round: Is it just any random thing about the character? Ie: can I have one character telling my character to go somewhere? or anything like that. I'm guessing it's nothing real big either way.

Yea thats much better (better drawn too, suprised you didn't use him in the first place).

Also the endurance round is just a short blurb about his backstory, eg how he got invited to the tournament, how he got his powers, etc. Its basically just to test the average drawing ability of the contestants.

Ah, I see, think I understand it now. So does this even take place in an arena of sorts or is it just random places like last time?

It can be wherever you want.

Well we'd like to get all of the characters in as soon as possible so we can get this started, but technically there is no deadline.

Lorelei Aella

Weapon: Basic unincanted spells, Spellcards, and a Magic tome

Powers: Lorelei...has the power to use all kinds of different magic spells. Nothing more nothing less. She carries no 'weapons' on her person, preferring to rely solely on magic. She prefers to stay at a distance and fire off basic spells as to not exert too much energy. However she can also open up the tome she always carries around and boost her magic power as well as gaining access to some stronger spells. Her most powerful attacks are locked into 4 different spellcards that she holds in a holster on her waist. When used, the cards disintegrate. When she runs out of spellcards, that's it for them. She then needs to create new cards and transcribe the same spells onto them later on.

(This system is based off the Touhou series. If you know about it then, you probably already pinned it without me explaining)

---Partial list of spells---

--Unincanted spells--
Flight: Very basic mage's skill. The ability to fly or levitate in the air. It's the first skill students are taught at the academy.

Flame Burst: A sphere of fire descends onto the foes and then explodes.

Arc of Flame: Lorelei swings her arm in an arc and a large flame arc follows.

Ice Needle Wall: Icicles rain onto the enemy, forming a small wall that shatters immediately after.

Bolt Tower: Lorelei holds her hand up to the sky and forms a ball of lightning. She then throws the sphere towards the ground near the enemy resulting in a thunderbolt shooting upwards.

--Magic Tome Spells--

Earth Rage: The ground beneath the enemy opens up and sharpened rocks shoot upwards

Shadow Laser: Lorelei holds her hand forwards and shoots a shadow element laser at the enemy

Summon - Celestial Servant: Summons an Angelic Knight to fight alongside her until it's either beaten or she recalls it.

--Spellcards--

Illusion Sign - Soul Army: Lorelei uses one of her spellcards to call forth a few dozen or so summons to fight alongside her. the same conditions as Celestial Knight apply. While the pain can't kill you seeing as it's an illusion, the pain that your body thinks it's feeling can knock you out if it's bad enough.

Terror Sign - Mindcrush: Lorelei creates the illusion of the world slowly being corrupted and in it's place is 'hell'.  The hell that victims see are all different depending on each victim. As with Illusion Sign, the pain can't kill you, but the simulated pain can knock you out.

Magic Saber - Life Terminating Sword: Lorelei forms an obscenely large sword and slashes forward. The sword dissipates after one slash, but the sheer size of the sword still makes it a challenge to get through.

Ritualistic Space - Solar Spark: Lorelei charges all of her magic energy and then fires a huge magic cannon. It's very destructive, but it drains all of her magic energy and stamina.

Backstory: Lorelei was born to a high class family that owned and ran a training hall specializing in various weapons. Unlike the rest of her family, she found that she was much better at magic than at using weapons, but her family refused to allow her to break away from family tradition. In an act of defiance, Lorelei enrolled herself in a magic academy and cut off all ties with her family. She's currently in her last year and is one of the highest ranking students in the academy. Despite her ability, she doesn't have much stamina and she doesn't like fighting in the first place, she would prefer to stay inside doing magic research than participating in pointless combat, but things never go that way, do they?

Ability-wise, Lorelei dabbles a little in all fields of magic, but excels the most at basic to high level attack magic. Her second preferred class of magic is summoning, and her third being magic weapon creation, the ability to form weapons out of pure magic.

Personality-wise, Lorelei comes off as shy, brooding, and introverted. But when she starts speaking, that quickly changes to sarcastic, mean, yet, still introverted. She spends a good majority of her free time conducting magic research and testing new spells.

Drawing Details: As you can see I got terribly lazy with this and I was giving my tablet a test run, but it should suffice as a color scheme and a basic look. As for the book, I got lazy again, but the outside of the book itself is blue and the outer lining and lock are gold. And the ring is gold with red on the inside.

Adrastus Mastoreon

Story:
(Keep in mind, Mastoreon is part of a large cast of characters from a story I've been working on. The setting of it is somewhere in the 4000s.)

A retired "New Age Gladiator" and 3rd place WMMA "Time Match" division winner, Mastoreon is a man who seeks to go on adventures. One day, after leaving the city he protects, and forgeting to get the results for his superman test, he goes on a small boat to sail off onto unknown islands and possibly planets once he can afford a flying boat (...).  While at sea, he is suddenly captured by the Soul space/air pirates, led by Captain Ty Jackson.

During his time with Jackson and his crew, Mastoreon takes position as 2nd battle commander due to his fighting skill, and meets up with Strife and company a few times. Although he could easily defeat Jackson and his crew, he decides to stay with him so he can see the world and get a free ride of sorts.
Character:
Mastoreon is a very violent man, especially in the way he fights. Even so, he has a kind heart and is loved by the citizens due to actions as a superhero (even if he isn't a licenced one).
He is also not aware of his strength, often breaking things or hurting people physically with out meaning it.

Like most fighters, Mastoreon enjoys challenging fights, but mainly enjoys fighting those who use brute strength well. Normally after finishing his battles, he takes something from his opponent to remember them. (Anything really, even limbs.)
Powers and Abilities:
Again, since he is a superman, he possesses the standard longer stamina, increased strength, defence and speed, and "spectral vision". (able to see ghosts, demons, etc).
If anybody is wondering why a gladiator character is wearing a viking helmet, well that once belonged to his rival (...a viking themed guy). It was given to Mastoreon to award his victory, afterwards, his rival invited him to teach him his special technique, the Viking Uppercut. Which is mainly concentrated energy shot out in an upwards direction, usually with the users fist.
Mastoreon, also has outstanding physical and mental defence (Meaning he's a Defenceman, but he doesn't know that, and hasn't fully evolved it.)

Combat wise, he is very talented with the sword and shield, but he doesn't  care much for them so he usually sticks to his fists and grapple moves. He fights with a very violent and ruthless style despite him being a good person.

:EDIT:

Mastoreon's shield has the ability to deflect and in some cases absorb most magic spells that are casted on him, and its perfect for throwing.

Movelist:

Viking Uppercut: The standard version of this technique, shown in the second reference picture.
Viking Uppercut Variation 1: "Triple Viking Uppercut", used to juggle his opponents.
Viking Uppercut Variation 2: "Super Viking Uppercut", Mastoreon concentrates energy to launch a powerful blast upwards, often takes the shape of a viking of sorts.
Titan's Burden: Mastoreon unleashes a small and quick surrounding wave which not only pushes back his opponent but it increases the gravitational field around him.
Triple Back Breaker: A back breaker combination, very awesome. :D
Other:

An old character sheet I made for him a long while back, has some important details I didn't put in the first.

Ok I guess that's all.

Sorry man you gotta do all of this yourself. Your friend is welcome to jone seperately if he wants to though.

Skie: Congrats on the tablet!

Strife: Oh man you always come up with awesome characters, I really want to fight this guy~

Oh well. He said he would give it to me..so I'll just get him to show me how to clean my stuff up and put in speech bubbles. Hopefully it won't be THAT difficult >.<

Strife's stuff is always great. I liked reading the matches he was in in the previous tournament.

haha strife, that's awesome! cool character there.

'kay, here's my fighter. :D

Bentin (no last name)

Basic Info: He's 14 years old, relative to his species. In human years, he is 18. He is really perverted, loud, and energetic (thoguh he does have emo moments). And in case you couldn't guess, he's bi; and he often acts very feminine. His height is 5'4" and he weighs 110 lbs.

Weapon: Can control rocks, ground, and plants of all sorts.

Powers: Bentin is a superhero from the group Hexxub. His ability is to control rocks and plants (nature stuff). He is not very strong at all, so he uses plants and rocks to damage others without actually touching the opponent. He is pretty fast because he is small, but not like SUPER SPEED or anything. He has pretty good defense; he throws chunks of rock at the other person when they try to get close to attack, or he may use plants to grab projectiles out of the air. Bentin is not very smart, though, so people can outwit him and get attacks in when he's not defending in certain areas. Also, if Bentin isn't in an area with plants/rocks/ground nearby, he will not be able to use his powers much (he could like materialize some rocks, but that would use up a looot of energy.) Of course, this would only really work in like a large metal building in an ocean or something. He can sense where things are underground and use his powers to bring them up, breaking whatever lays on top of the ground in order to bring up the plants or rock. Also, Bentin carries around seeds in his pockets and hidden all throughout his clothes. He can make these seeds turn into fullgrown plants and trees using his powers.
Another ability of Bentin's is using his plants for medicinal purposes. He carries around his own herbal medicines, each having different effects on him. Among these are:
-Energy Bean: Highly nutritious, it gives him more energy when he is getting exhausted. He uses these a lot.
-Healing Petals: When Bentin eats these petals, they help his blood clot and make his wounds start healing at a much faster rate than they normally would.
-Iron Stems: Stems from a crossbreed flower that make Bentin's body a lot harder to damage. It doesn't last too long though, so Bentin carries many stems with him.

Specific Moves:
-Rock Shower: Lifts up a lot of little rocks nearby and rains them down fast on the opponent.
-Strangling Grip: Bentin summons a large vine from underground and uses is it to grip the opponent. He can hold them steady using very little energy, or use up more energy and tighten the grip, even going so far as to strangle the opponent if they don't break free.
-Dirty Defense: Bentin lifts up dirt and packs it together instantly to form tough sheilds around him wherever the opponent attacks. (If you've seen Naruto, think Gaara's sand. It's kinda like that, but Bentin has to conciously choose where the dirt should go and it can exhaust him if he does it too much.)
-Speed of Nature: If there are a lot of plants nearby, Bentin can make them pop up and he can jump off the leaves and maneuver quickly through them. He can exhaust and confuse his enemy by doing this, and use openings to attack with rocks.
-Create: Bentin takes out seeds, spits on them, and makes them grow with his powers. His seed packets contain all sorts of seeds, and he knows what each one is just by feeling it. He makes his own crossbreed seeds to accomplish the purposes he has set out for them.
-Create Vine Whip: An example of a create move. Bentin creates a vine that is linked with smaller, very strong stems. It has big thorns that can rip through flesh running up and down it.

Backstory: (It's a little complicated...) Bentin is half-vampire and half-kappa (seamonster). Those 2 races are looked down upon by society and referred to as "Creatures", thought to be equal to animals. He grew up in a poor family, because neither of his parents were able to get good jobs because of their species. Bentin's father, a vampire, was driven crazy from all the persecution he endured, and would take his anger out on Bentin by beating and torturing him. Eventually, he killed Bentin's mom right in front of him.
Bentin was rescued by some members of the Universal Council (they promote universal peace and all that) and taken to live at a palace on Konteria (a wealthy planet) with other children taken from their parents. Eventually, some magic guardians from the royal palace saw that he had an enormous amount of magic energy around him, and he was taken to be part of the newly-forming superhero alliance of Hexxub (which was composed of 6 kids who would be trained to lead armies to stop the Universal War when they got older; blah blah blah). Hexxub ended up fighting in and winning the war years earlier than expected, and were sent to Earth to protect the planet so another Universal War would ever break out again.
Now, Bentin works to keep the planet safe from intruders, but he also enjoys just being a regular teenager (as much as he can be). He's the object of many fangirls' affections. :P

Drawing Details: He has green skin, scales almost everywhere, 2 slits for a nose (kappa traits), a fang on his left side of his mouth, pointed fingers, and pointed ears (vampire traits). His left ear is pierced 4 times, and his right ear is pierced 5 times (though he doesn't always wear earings/studs in all the holes). His eyes are bright blue. His hair should be straight, but a bit messy. His bangs are straight across his forehead. From the front, his hair seems to have no part. It's far back on his head and in the center.

Extra Info:
-Bentin is a vampire, but he doesn't drink blood. That's the reason he is so weak and thin. His dad kinda scarred him when he would force him to drink people's blood even though he always thought it was gross (he lacked the natural vampire instinct to want blood). He also absolutely HATES the sight of his own blood, or having other people's blood on him. That is another reason why he doesn't like to fight hand-to-hand.
-Bentin has reaaally sharp nails, and can scrape through a lot of stuff, including most types of rocks. He can fashion rocks into weapons if he needs to, using his nails.
-He likes to wear strange clothing, including things with lots of color or patterns, revealing pieces, and ripped things.
-He loves plants and nature, an interest that has come about since being given the power to control those things. He doesn't like fire, which is probably because fire kills plants.
-Bentin is easily distracted by objects and people (especially by girls...).
-His dad was reaaally tall (over 7 feet), and his mom was reaaally short (almost 2 feet). Bentin ended up being rather short.
-If Bentin drank blood, he would get a burst of energy. The only reason he's really weak is because he refuses to drink blood.

Teo

Teo was once a member of Gaming World, just like you and I. When he first joined his user name was H3Who, slowly but surely he began to change into an internet jini (known as Teo). He used to have human legs - not anymore. The internet hasn't really fixed it's leprosy problem so Teo's fashioned himself a Jini tail. Now he no longer exists within the realm of you and I. See now, he lurks the cybar shadows, never posting anywhere, ever. He sits petting his ceramic cats and furiously drawing sinister plans to sabatoge the eutopian Gaming World.
He's terribly nice. He speaks very good english and he's originally from Sweden. Due to absolutely no explosure to the sun, his skin has turned completely white, sometimes even blueish. His affinity for cats is apparent. He can conjure any object he wants with the wave of his hand and the pixels will assemble. Why does he not have a fleet of seething dragons to destroy the cyber world? Living Mayan Kitty Statue (in fact two).
Mist
Engulfs the playing field in a heavy mist, limiting vision and enabling Mist Manipulation.
Mist Manipulation
Manipulates the mist to create illusions of..... anything really.
Mist Hallucinate
Ever done psychoactives? Don't have to - take a walk into this heavy mist.
Summon Cat Creature
Ferocious, Mayan, Kitschy. They also have holes on their backs that constantly spew Mist into the air (slight disadvantage to the Cats, you'll know where they are if they're close).
Hover/Fly
All Jinis can do this okay?

Created from a mixed media thing (collage & painting) I made a while back. better color reference.

And here's a B&W version just incase of emergency

i miss teo :(

STORY
Following his defeat at the hands of Crimson, Lunge drifted aimlessly through the many oceans of the world for several months. Disappointed both by his lack of skill and the environment around him, he eventually settled in a small river bordering a rustic Mexican village. After many days, Lunge eventually left his waters to form a new life among the natives, who found him to be an intriguing and exotic fighter. In exchange for sharing his knowledge of Atlantean Deep Sea Style Boxing, the elders of the village offered to train him in the traditional art of Lucha Libre. In the months that followed, Lunge grew both physically and mentally as the graceful wrestling art of Mexico began to cement itself in his mind. Finally, he felt ready to return to his home in the Atlantic, with the hopes of again encountering Crimson for a rematch.

LOOK
Lunge is bulkier than before, though still lithe, flexible and streamlined. He now sports a Lucha Libre mask, trunks, wristbands and boots. Two long scars from his fight against Crimson run across his face and chest.

PERSONALITY
Currently, Lunge is hopeful and ready to being his new future as a fighter. He is however more worldly and mature than he once was. He is no longer as talkative, or naive.

MOVES
Lunge is still an excellent boxer, whose power has only grown in the time since his last fight. He is capable of landing a punch from almost and angle, to any point on the body. His new knowledge of Lucha Libre has added several acrobatic grappling maneuvers to his arsenal, with a vast array of locks, throws and slams now at his disposal. He is most effective in an enclosed space, or under water. Additionally, he can still activate Atlantic Deep Sea Spiral Mode, wherein his punches created gales of wind and he can achieve flight.

Okay let's do this thing.
EDIT: Blame my scanner for the poor resolution.

Man, this catch me by surprise. I was thinking of Lunge entering again, but damn, his looks really changed. It's awesome.

Though I dunno if I am going to use Crimson again for this second tournament though :(

PS - thanks for the Crimson backstory. I think that it is cool :D

EDIT
(also, i updated Bentin a teensy bit.)

I dunno about the others, but with the new edits, I think Bentin is getting more intimidating/tough (he is becoming a strong opponent). And that's the way it should be I guess. So yeah, good job on the edits there.

Holy shit Ramael, I'm loving Lunge's upgrade.

I would love to fight him as well as seeing a rematch of him against Crimson.

Archeia Envagrias

Weapons: Crescent Moon, Deus Exa Tarot Cards

Powers: Archeia draws her powers from her Tarot Card and her special rosary called, "Sigil (Real name will be revealed sometime), being agile and dexterous, she can deal critical hits in no time and instant KO when she has the chance. She can also change the element of her attacks for the amount of 7 minutes. She can "change" her weapon, always thought called as, "Crescent Moon" to any kind of weapons (Think of Flame of Recca's Lorkan). She also has a triple personality which affects her combat abilities, which is the very reason why she gives up always in battle or sometime get to murderer-like.

---Partial List of Abilities---

--Crescent Moon Skills--

Divine Judgment: Archeia's ultimate spell, combining her crescent moon and Deus Exa Tarot Cards, she throws a hail of cards among the enemies, and all their fate lies in the cards.

Crimson Sky, Blue Moon: Archeia's risky technique that can instantly kills the enemy by manipulating the flow of aura around her.

Angelic Awakening: Needed for Archeia's special moves. Weakens her stats by half.

--Moon Phantasm: Deus Exa Tarot Deck--

Revelations - Allows Archeia to deal massive field damage throughout her surroundings depending on the card.

Reality Nightmare - Archeia uses this to foretell the future in a special way. She uses some sort of Illusionary Scenario before she fights, and this way, she doesn't have to exert any force at all. There is a way to avoid this but the clue is, Ban Mido's "Evil Eye" or Itachi's "Myangetsuo Sharingan" ;)

Eternal Fate - Randomly uses a tarot card to use against the enemy

--Partial List of Passive Abilities--

Auronia (Aura Deficiency) - She can heal herself at a fast rate, painfully that is, whenever she is injured after 7 hours.
Presence - She can sense the enemies attacks and learns how to avoid them after one use by the enemy. She doesn't use this much though as she feels it's "unfair"

Backstory: Archeia's whole history is a mystery throughout the world of Alexus Lacroa. But, what is known about her to this present day is that she's a cold blooded mercenary that was always found alone. It is said that she isn't human at all. During sometime, she had an extreme battle with a person connected to her past that awakened her dark side personality and because of that, she senses people that smell death and unconsciously kills them mercilessly. In order to redeem and stop herself, she gave the Version 2 of her Deus Arcana deck to a person that she believed that has the capability to stop her.

Ability-wise, Archeia is better at Agility based battles, her primary element (or so thought) is Air when in reality she uses a special element called "Sacred" that is said to be obtained by "Those Who Walk His Way" Her specialty is either using the Spear/Sword/Bow/Wand/????? form of Crescent or her Tarot Deck.

Personality-wise, Silent, Cold, and rich as hell, she never seemed to be interested at anything, she has an assistant named "Aeneas" to do some of her "dirty" work for her. Favorite food, "Chocolate" and "Strawberry" (Not the fruit) Shake.

Drawing Details: For some reason I was dizzy drawing Archeia, probably because of not wearing glasses  Sad She has an ethereal wing beside her to support her during battle when she needed to fly or shield against enemies. But this is the uncolored version, I'll try to post the ones later :D

Excellent, someone else just dropped so we still have an even number of competitors.

And these characters just keep getting better and better! I'll update the list to show who has submitted their character.
