Oh my god this won. If you haven't played this you have no idea.
By the way the music was really great. All the tracks fit in with the whole story.

I demand everyone to play this.

This is great. I kept dying on easy mode but it was still incredibly fun! I think I used about 10 continues before beating it.

By the way, I also played U.S.G. (and beat it, yeah), I just never commented. Great games, man.

I also like how the hitbox was more visible here than on U.S.G.'s, made it easier to dodge bullets.

  This game taught me that I should never make any game in two weeks again lol It's so tiring T_T  But that sure was a great experience though Smile

  Since this is my first game with Game Maker, I'm sure there are lots of room for me to improve :(  I still don't know which one I should use preload texture and which one I shouldn't X(

  Also, I don't really have much time to adjust the game difficulty...if you have any suggestions or comments feel free to do so! This game I really focus on scoring system and gameplay mechanic that is really different from U.S.G.  In U.S.G., I think the scoring system is pretty bad and it cant really seperate between good and great player. I hope it's better in this game....so it would be nice if I see some of your highscore around here :P

  @Neophyte
  He he , Thanks!  Especially in stage 3, right? :P

  @Sarenji
  Thanks XD Do you think unlimited continue is good? I want to make sure that everyone can clear the game, regardless of how good they are. But since everytime you continue your score is reset to 0, so you have to use no continue if you really want good score Smile

@Sarevok
 I can't wait to read the review! And glad that you like the final boss XD  I have to thanks you that give me such resources to train my creativity ( or more like my ridiculous mind lol)

@auroren_sky
 I've got a mirror posted in the first post. Hope that works for you! :D

@radio_raheem
Thank you for your feedback! If you don't play shooter game that often, don't forget to play in Little Panda difficulty first!   Still, you have infinite number of continues, so you don't have to worry about game over.  Smile

   Also I've added a video showing what happened when you parry the bullet successfully. It's when the "shing!" sound is played. Kinda difficult to do, but if you want an easy start, try tapping attack button repeatedly on Little Panda difficulty and run into the bullet. Then from there you can start practice the timing. It'll become useful in Killer Panda and Lunatic Panda difficulty, if you can't dodge all those bullets.
    The video also show the basic of how to use Pandora. Her panda little helper work like this

- They will attack the same direction that you moved before you press attack button.
- Holding attack button will lock their attack direction.
- During slow mode, they'll lock their position and won't follow Pandora.
- Pandora's Crimson Move will release shockwave from Panda little helpers.  So you really need to plan ahead! Her crimson move is pretty much the most powerful of all.
- Pandora's Crimson Drive fire homing flare ball from Panda little helpers. You can move them around too with the same normal control. Enter slow mode to lock their position.

Guys, don't say hima is the winner, each time someone says that Sarevok subtracts a point from him. But ya, I love this game, I want him to win.

hima, just want to say you are a terrific game maker, man. I've never even been into shmups much before playing U.S.G. (which is one of the most gnarly games I've played on GW... and I've played a lot). I don't think this is as good as U.S.G. but considering you made this in two weeks... maaaaaan. This just blew my mind.

Despite not looking shmups, I gave this a shot and loved it! Great graphics and there's more for the user to do than just move left move right like the average top-down shooter

Programming those enemy shooting patterns must have been a bitch!

Hey! I just wanted to drop in and say that I sincerely enjoyed your game. It;'s really different from the usual shooter/flying spaceshooter games. There are just a few things:

1) Some of the later bosses are way easier than the first ones. Like the magician was omg difficult, while Poe (?) was a lot less hard. For me anyway.

2) Can we get a save option? 'Cause I can't leave the compu on for the entire duration of the game if I want a break, etc. I had to quit halfway because I didn't want to play anymore but there was no save button. XD Props for having such a lengthy game, though!

3) OMG the SHOUT song was awesome! Did I hear Whoopie Goldberg in there? XDD Classic!

Yeah, definitely keep them. It gives newbies (like me) a chance to beat the game Smile

Also, is the hitbox bigger than in USG? It might just be me, but it seems bigger. I don't really mind, it's just something I noticed.

Yes, it's awesome! Even in my game, though I had health, I didn't have any lives or gameovers, because I want people to be able to actually complete it, not die 2 or 3 times and quit Smile

Friggin AWESOME title screen btw, puts mine to shame :<

@Twin Matrix
 Yeah, that's why I didn't think save feature is neccessary ^ ^;;  However, I'll make sure to have it implemented should I make another shmup. This game I intend to make it as close as arcade shmup game as possible so that's another reason the save feature wasn't there

 I agree about the boss. I made Poe too weak, I think. Probably the hp is too low, and by the time you reach that stage, your weapon level should be at the maximum already. I'll make her stronger if there's a next version...haha  IMO, her patterns are actually more difficult than David Cloverfield, but maybe that's only in Lunatic Mode. I'd have to balance the pattern difficulty to match the game difficulty *sigh*

 And it's Whoopie Silverberg! Not Goldberg :P Just kidding lol

@Sarenji
  I think this game is smaller. 2x2 pixels, if my memory serve.

@Strangeluv
  Thank you XD I hope Sarevok won't do that though...*gulp*
  As for the game, I think it's because I don't have enough time to test the game :S  I also want to try different approach for this game too, kinda being true to the original genre more than U.S.G.   I'm glad that my game make you like shmup more XD

@auroren_sky
  The Bride's theme color is yellow right? I think that should fit one of the siblings...lol If I ever do a sequel, that is ^ ^;;

@handsome lamb
 I don't know if it'll be as good. At least it'll be different! XD But one thing more sure, this one has a heck lot more bullets than in USG. And I'm satisfied about that. Smile

@ ASE
 It really was....not only I have to program it but I have to test it for every difficulty! So with one pattern, I have to test at least 4 diffculty x 3 characters = 12 times, to make sure that it's possible to defeat the boss in any difficulty with any character. Though some of the pattern in Lunatic mode I can't beat it myself, but I figure there must be some player out there that's much better than me :P

@ Aten
 Great minds think alike XD I like your radio screen though. Make me wanna go back and grab MSG for PS to play it again Smile

@hima:

Well, my weapon level reaches maximum approx. during the first boss or right after, I can't remember exactly. Maybe that should be a little less fast.

IMO, the difficulty level of the bosses is:
The first one > Whoopie Goldberg > Poe > magician > Teletubbeh sun.

But yea, you're right on Poe's HP. She went down fairly fast, even in her "uber boss" mode after she dies the first time. The baby was awesome fun though. Not too much HP to become annoying. Smile Great game.

I encountered a minor graphic glitch during the main menu's transition to and from the high score table. It carried over, briefly, to the first level when I started a new game, but after the first initial "screen blinks black with random white boxes" it didn't happen again. It might just be my computer, because it also tends to get a little laggy when there are a ton of projectiles and a crimson wave on screen.

I'm having a lot of fun (and frustration - I keep stupidly dodging into projectiles and dying when I start to get a decent score wracked up...) with this game.

Aside from the above mentioned glitch, and some grammar errors, I have no complaints about this game.

I also like that you've made all three girls play differently. Very well done.

hima I understand (hope, otherwise I sound like a cock now) English isn't your first language, and although you've a very good grasp of it I think you would benefit greatly from getting an independant source (even just one of us) to read through your games and fix the grammar and stuff. If you did that you could seriously hit the commercial scene man.

@hero_bash
 I admit I made her too powerful :(  But in Lunatic or Killer Panda difficulty, I think she would be a bit difficult to use because of her moving speed and her narrow attack range. So not only you have to dodge the bullets, but you have to find your way to attack the enemies also. And her Crimson Move is probably the worst of all three girls.
 However, the other girls have wide attack range. Like Artemis, she's slow and that make your movement more precise and easier to dodge the bullet. The range of her attack also help you focus more on the dodging, because your bullets gonna hit the enemies for sure. As for Pandora, it depends on how you set up your Panda Little Helper. These two girls Crimson Moves are penetrable attack, so you can kill a lot of enemies while there are so many bullets on the screen, and get a ton of golden coins Smile

@Killer_Wolf
 Yeah, I got that too.  I think it has to do with me not understanding the draw event in GM that well :'(  I'll learn more about it and fix it in the future. Don't forget to post your highscore here if you can! I'd love to see it ^ ^
  Oh, and if you decide not to continue when you run out of lives, your current score will be added in the highscore list. (But that means you have to start the game from the very beginning)
  So you have tried all the three girls? I think I still need to balance them a bit. First thing I noticed is Athena's knife deals too much damage in higher level. Feel bad for the bosses in the later stages lol.

@Sarevok
  No, English isn't my first language. And I do agree with you that I really need someone to check on my grammar (or else it would take me months to correct all of them lol) This is probably my weakest link and I'll make sure I'll do something about it in my next game. And the music too...I really need to find a composer.
  Do you think the game has commercial quality!? Excuse me, while I'm flying to the stratosphere XD

Actually I think she is the greatest character as well. The narrow attack can soften all the bosses bar the final one to VERY LOW health before the first bullets reach you, and then you can spam the insanely cheap crimson move (which homes in) from anywhere you like whilst dodging bullets. I beat all the bosses except the final one without being hit using that technique (on the second hardest difficulty). it's only 5% a shot, so it's spammable love.

Regarding commercial quality..yes. I think it has commercial quality definitely, however you couldn't sell it due to all the unlicensed music and certain final boss graphics used in the game. Personally I would GLADLY pay something like $10/$15 for this game, if it was balanced a little (maybe less blood from kills, harder to upgrade weapons, later levels made a bit tougher and longer).

And if ya ever need someone to proof-read the game scripts for ya, you know where to ask ;)

I'm amazed at the amount of replay value I'm having with this. I keep going back to try and one-up my old scores, or to try and get more perfect kills on the bosses.

Suffice to say I started hitting my stride when I switched to/figured out Pandora

I think the girls are pretty well balanced out as is, though the weapon power ups do come a little fast at the beginning. If you focus on them, you can have your level 5 weapon by the time you defeat the first mid-boss. I was thankful that the weapon level didn't reset when I lost a life (I was expecting that, with a whole litany of profanity armed and ready just in case).

With her level 5 upgrade, and proper panda helper positioning, Pandora was killing the bosses even faster then Athena for me. This usually involved a daredevil run up to stake the helpers out next to the boss, setting up a potentially deadly crossfire - which also enabled me to focus on dodging projectiles knowing the helpers would keep pounding away for me.

With the exception of the final boss, I had the most trouble with the magician. He always seemed to catch me off guard with the green clovers, but it was mostly because I was trying to be greedy, going for extra hits when I knew I should have been moving.

There was one other issue, and it might just be my computer - on the higher difficulty levels I noticed that sometimes the enemy projectiles would become inert. They'd just sit there on the screen in the same place. I wasn't sure if this was on purpose, or a glitch, because it did ramp up the difficulty - having to avoid incoming enemy fire as well as stationary hazards.

@Killer_Wolf
  WOW!! 600 millions!? That beat the heck out of my score... I could go up to 200 million something almost 300 and then got nervous and died so often in the later stages lol.
  I do agree about the weapon power up comes too fast in the beginning. I need to tweak the amount of blood drained from the enemies in the first two stages. : /  And I don't want to take away the power up away...considering the amount of blood you've spent on power up it would be too cruel, I think hehe. Though, losing a life will reset your blood pack to 2 packs.
  Hmm maybe that's what difficult about the magician, the homing clover leaves. Actually, there's a little trick to that. (Maybe this why I find him easier than Whoopy)

When he's about to shoot the homing clover, DO NOT MOVE. It looks like it coming to you, but it actually doesn't. It'll miss you by a little bit so you're be safe if you stay still. Just focus on the stars and stop moving at the right time and you should be fine.

  As for the stationary bullets problem...I don't think that's your computer fault. Maybe they're those speed one bullets. They move one pixel per frame, which is as same as the background speed so because of that they turn out to look like they're not moving at all. If this is the case, I did that on purpose. But if it turns out to be speed 0 bullets that stay the same regardless of the background then...that's another story ^ ^;;  And yeah, just like Sarevok said, you can use crimson drive to destroy them! (But I know you want to save blood pack and thrill guage for perfect kill bonus. XD)

  Thank you so much for your comment. I hope Pandora is not too complicated to play. I still think Athena is way too powerful and need to be tone down though. Her homing crimson knife turns out to be a cheapshot due to only 5% blood needed like Sarevok said :-/   Anyway, I'll see if I can come up with the score that close to yours with Artemis.  foget smile

I checked again, and the "stationary" or +1 speed bullets appeared even on the Teen Panda difficulty level (I'm not sure how I didn't notice them before at that level.)

After my last post, I took a couple more stabs at the game. I was able to get up into the mid 200 millions with Athena, but I wasn't paying enough attention and died out before the final boss.

I've been trying to catch up to the scores with Artemis, but for some reason I keep dodging into the later boss' projectiles and dying off! She is a lot of fun on the earlier bosses though with that beam attack of hers.

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

This has to be the most strange, cool and fun game I've played for a long time. The sounds and music, the graphics and the story, all of it is great. Of course, I suck at it, but it's still very entertaining.
