I'm not gonna vote in this, because I made music for two of the entries, and don't have time to play them all anyway, so it wouldn't be fair. but I'm going to watch eagerly to see who wins :D

good luck guys!

I voted for hima's DotPLUS.

Frankly, this was the only entry which was playable, and a damn good game.

The others looked like they were whipped in a week, and not two months. OK, except Gravity, but it was so confusing I gave up very fast.

actually I'm expecting more entries, but I think 6 is still okay
Now, I need to play those games first, each one looks good!

I voted for Hima's Dot Plus. Out of the lot it was the most playable, and actually pretty addicting... I've always had a thing for adding random numbers together.

Both Carius and Psy-Wombat's entries were unplayable for me, due to horrible lag in the former and missing files in the latter. Farmrush's entry was okay, but it really just seemed like a slight variation of Missile Command. Anaryu's entry seemed to have potential, but I didn't care for the controls much and the character just moved too slowly.

I didn't even play Yummy Drumstick's entry, as there was no information on it and when I clicked the download link I was presented with 4 different files, and I wasn't sure which I was supposed to download or if I needed more than one file.

hey uh, the_nackster..... you are ridiculously generous with these contests and cash prizes but

if I were in your shoes I would set a minimum limit of games that must be submitted in order to give out 1st, 2nd, 3rd and runner-up prizes. 6 entries is pathetic and, unless you really think three or more of these games deserve cash prizes, I would hold off on giving out some of the lower prizes.

Of course, this IS your contest so do as you wish. I'm not trying to be a MEANIE, just saying maybe you'd want to rethink this a little bit and save those prize for another contest where more people actually submit????

edit: also, didn't Carius submit his Space Fish game for this?? unless it was for a different contest but it was tagged [contest]

Carius' game is the first in the poll.

Note to all who couldn't run Terra Nova: I've changed the installer to include the RTP, I forgot to do so with the last release. It should be playable now. Link to the newest version:

I would've liked to see more.

So... Are any of these actual RPGs? Seems weird. Anyway, unfortunately it looks unlikely there will be a WombatRPGs entry in the next contest... Making the custom systems is way too time consuming to be done year-round. Actually, Nackster, are you intending to hold a Jan-Feb contest? (Decided on a theme yet?)

The Muse! game is an RPG, the story hook is enticing.  As for your question about other RPGs, it looks like there are none.  I remember someone biatching about it in the contest thread saying to keep rpg maker games to a minimum.  Sad

That's too bad. One might have turned out good, you know. And there'd be a better amount of submissions in general.

The exact same thing happened to me. I had no idea what the game was about, what I was supposed to do, or anything. (Which is why I wasn't sure about the RPG thing). In any case I was too busy fixing my own game's glitches to invest time in a mystery game.

Man.. I get the feeling that we only got a lot of entries last time because everybody thought that there wouldn't be enough, so pulled something together and submitted it last second only to find out everyone else did the same.

This time, everybody thought that everyone else would send in their entries at the last second, and therefore didn't make anything. So fewer entries ended up getting sent in.

I started my entry on the day the contest was announced, by the way. It's just, not a lot was created due to finals. (As in, I didn't jus throw stuff together in a week.)

If it makes you feel any better, I have since tried Yummy's entry... And it doesn't effect my verdict at all. I talked to a few people, followed some guy into a bathroom, then it went back to the title screen. There really wasn't any real gameplay as far as I could tell. Also, none of the lighting in the game appeared on the map properly, with the exception of the starting room.

I would of voted for Hima but I felt sorry for Carius, I mean I liked his game and he put some much work into it, so I voted for him, besides Hima has already got plenty of votes.

Wow, and I thought Hima had first for sure...

Neok might be right about the number of entries... Or else, I know I'm more likely to enter shorter contests. I've been doing nothing but this project since the announcement, so I'm not prepared to sign up for another two months of that. Nackster, maybe a bi-monthly contest, but a week in duration or something of the like?

I thought Muse was good up until the moment it returns you to the title screen. It was confusing as.

Everyone loves RPG Maker games, cuz they're simple, beautiful. GM experiments like Gravity are buggy and weird for me. Terraformer just ugly.
Carius's Space Fish is cool, as always.
Terra Nova is super stylish, but it seems pretty unfinished and dull, you can avoid all enemies on your path. It doesn't have any simple script enemy traps.
Muse the best, I think.

I'm totally up for rough feedback (confusing, too much in the tutorial, "weird", too complex, too easy, too short, sucky graphics, bad premise) and all that, but so far I have had zero bug reports, so if you HAVE found it buggy please let me know what they are so I know how to fix it for future projects.

I'll try to do some reviews for tomorrow but I'm surprised Muse is winning so far! I mean it has good presentation/concept and felt like it could have ended up as something really cool but it was also very obviously unfinished and has virtually no gameplay. I think people are voting for it on the basis that it looks like it has the potential to be something good, but honestly I think it's more fair to vote on what was actually submitted rather than what shows promise and in this light I don't think anyone could argue that it's a better game than something like Terraformer or DotPLUS.
Also yeah Gravity was probably my favorite game released for this, it was pretty complex at first but it was also pretty fun and imaginative and I'm a sucker for action-puzzles or whatever.

Also drunkposting so not sure how legible this is but whatever.

I don't want to be the annoying who keeps pointing flaws on the voting system, but I feel like people who didn't even play the games are voting. It makes no sense at all that Muse is winning. It's not even a game, and it's got one third of all votes. Problem is, a very small number of people on GW have actually played all (or most) of the games to be able to vote wisely, but everyone on GW can vote. I'm absolutely sure that some people who don't even know what this contest is about are voting.

Anyways, I will very likely vote for Gravity, and I'm preparing mini-reviews for all games. But I'm yet to play Terra Nova.

Ok im making a judgement call here that I may get hashed for but, fuck you its my contest. Im removing Muse from the voting. There was little to no sufficient information provided for the project and I feel it violates the gameplay rule as well as I have it on reliable sources that the project was made before this contest. There are other people here who worked hard to win their prizes and im not going to rob them of that oppurtunity.

Wait whattt I saw AZN planning for this contest just as the contest started, I was even trying to give him ideas! I remember him showing mockups of his menu before it was even coded, we even played the beta version where there's not much in it, why was it removeD?!

They worked hard as the others and YDS even flipped at the IRC, I remember that she was having a hard time mapping as well, I remember azn doing the graphics, how is that fair?

I know this is your contest nackster but unless you show us reliable source I don't think it's fair that you assume it was made BEFORE the contest

IDK it just seems wrong to me
They stayed up all night for the last few days for nothing

Just because an rpgmaker game is leading doesn't make it like this, I don't know ask the voters why they voted muse!

I just find it unfair and bullshit, that's the disadvantage of open poll like what we were saying before!
It's not right for it to be disqualified for the wrong reasons

The game is even short to start with to be started before the contest, just wut d heel?
SERIOUSLY! It's a very short game O_O

I would be totally okay with this being kicked out of the competition for being too short or whatever, but where the hell did you get this from?

i think it's pretty incredible all but one of the games will get a cash prize. i'm surprised there were not more entries to be honest. anyway i've already played three of these, i'm going to look at the rest then give my vote.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Muse was started late into the contest and not before then. I'm willing to be proven wrong if someone has good evidence, but I think that at least for that reason, it wouldn't be fair to remove it from the votes. Maybe for gameplay or something. Either way, I'm not going to vote as I haven't played all of the games so it wouldn't be fair for me to do so.

If I had some more free time, I would have liked to participate in a contest like this.

hey hey don't get your cooties in a knot, why are you angry. Besides, I don't see why it was winning, there was nothing great about that game, definitely nothing compared to how much work others put in their games, like Carius and even farmrush (and they did it alone). Anyway, nackster, I support your removal of the entry for the reasons you stated.

Carius, you almost got my vote, but your game lagged to hell and back so I went with farmrush, I found terraformer pretty good.

Nackster, I'm sure YDS and Azn had been working hard on this just like the rest of us!

We all want this contest to go well and not end up with just two or three entries so we all work hard to get our games done and submit.  If you want to know why the game is winning then maybe it's better to ask the voter for their reasons. This will be both good for us game developer too since they have to write up a mini review telling why they like and don't like our games.

I know that this is your contest, but I was hoping that this will be a fun little contest that we got to make games and enjoy trying other people games.  I don't want this to ruin this contest :(   If you are going to disqualify the game, then it might be better if you stated which rule it violate and how the game vilolates the rule.

Actually, you should have talked to YDS and AZN about this before you made that post...maybe there are some misunderstanding.

hey hey don't get your cooties in a knot, why are you angry its not even your game.

I don't think it's an issue of winning or losing or thinking it's a bad game (I expected it to lose, personally), but it's unfair to make a claim that isn't true to disqualify a game. Again, if the claim is true, then I'd be fine with the game being removed.
