Odin Sphere is a crazy brawler-RPG with one of the few truly moving RPG stories. It's also gorgeous, but it lags during fights against the vaginaspider and demented dragon.

Xenosaga (3 is the best overall and pretty stand-alone; the others are... well, very good yet very bad) has excellent characters. I also hear that it has a story but I have no idea what jappened (see what I did there)? XS3's battle system is basically the most rapid turn-based battle system ever.

Jak 1 and 3 are both great platformers, but totally different. Jak 2 is just... no. You do not want to play that ridiculously unfair game.

Final Fantasy X-2 is my favorite game. I like the cheesy girl-power story and love Leblanc. It's sort of like FFV on estrogen.

I second Jagged Alliance 2.

Also, I'm currently playing Fire Emblem 8 and plan on picking up the Wii FE tomorrow.

Kain, FF7 Cid and Paine.

I like spears and high-heel warrior boots.

@Marcus: ...but FFX-2 is my favorite game. :<

My first RPG, however, was... ... ... I think one of the Harry Potter GBC games. They are so awesome and you should at least try the Chamber of Secrets because they are so awesome, did you know that they are so awesome?

As much as I love the HP GBC games, they aren't my favorite. Sorry.

I third (I think?) Rudras. It's a stunning game-- sounds great, looks great, plays well. The encounter rate is a little high and the game can be unforgiving but it's an astonishingly fun romp. Hell, it has mermaids and lizards and demi-god kings and ninjas as PCs. The only SNES game that can beat that is Romancing SaGa 3, I'm pretty sure (that's the one with the elephant, right?)!

Also holy shit Lufia 2 has the best dungeons in any bird's-eye-view RPG ever.

If you like DQ, DQ6 is a DUH. It's kind of out there for the series, though. I've found that it's a lot more... personal? I dunno, somebody more versed in DQ mythos can explain better.

=========
Rudras also has a zombie PC. Spoiler (question for people who have played the game):

Okay guys, stop repeating each other. It's kind of annoying!

Anyway, I think that this is pretty cool. The whole "taught by WoW" thing doesn't make me like videogames any more than before (lol rhyme) but hey: it possibly saved his/his sister's life. That thar's deserving of some kudos.

In Etrian Odyssey you can create 15 unique characters, I believe (maybe 12).

Basically any tactics game.

Valkyrie Profile has bazillions of einherjar.

Man, Craze, either one of those things would be awesome. I wish you wouldn't have said that because now I'm going to be disappointed when it doesn't turn out to be either!
Well, rather, Steampunk LotR would be awesome if it were written by a better writer than Tolkien. But you get the point.

You make me a 100% complete, pretty and functional rmxp TBS and I'll make you a steampunk LotR.

I haven't seen the full movie or read the book, but I have seen the billion-minute-long trailer that came with Hairspray (i.e. the entire film basically) and it made absolutely no sense.

There was something about a little girl and a bear and a little boy and Zellewager is supposed to be a bitch and there's some crazy CEO-ish/zealous/tuxedoy guy who wants... some little gold trinket? The trailer was pretty illogical. I'm pretty sure it met the requirement for zooming text, though, so obviously it's a cool phantasy phlick.

So, question time: Is this something great I'm missing, like Lemony Snicket in Antartica or a steampunk version of Lord of the Rings? Or is it rehashed Religious Stuff with a valueless metallic object and some krazy kids?

Him: You forget.

We have an International VgMAF1A. The VgMAF1A cuts away the dissenters like a fat aristocrat eats ham on rye with fancy Dijon mustard.

I'm surprised I don't see many topics about great Flash games. Maybe that's because I'm a Newgrounds whore and you guys aren't, but whatever. Let's share our favorite flash games~!

XENO TACTIC is an amazing Defense game. Yes, it is better than any popular Defend Your _____ game involving stupid stick figures. This game gives you a field, occasionally with some obstacles, and six turret types to place where you wish. Turrets can be upgraded, but that costs money and time- which is precious in XENO TACTIC. You only get resting periods if you manage to herd aliens into a death trap and finish that wave off before the next one comes in 2 seconds later.
XENO TACTIC is very hard, looks great, sounds great and has unlimited strategies.

Evil Nights has a terrible name and can lag somewhat. It's a strange RPG/Defense hybrid where you can turn your wizard into a vampiric, teleporting fiend; a hardy mage that simply won't die; a cleric that relies on crossbowmen for defense and spends time running around healing buildings and people; a mage fond of slinging thunder and lightning constantly with no regard for the town and so many other possibilites. Again, it can lag a bit (especially if you teleport into a large clump of demons), but it nicely balances the strategy of an RPG and the difficulty of a platformer. Indeed, this may be the only RPGish game where jumping does you any good.

-Red-. Holy shit. It's a space invaders game with creepy music, simple graphics (but anti-aliased!) and some awesome physics. The aim of the game [sic] is to push meteors off of the screen by hitting them with little balls and big balls. You have little ammo and it  replenishes slowly. Extra bases can be tricky to defend. It has gigantic boss meteors that take up the entire screen. Sooooooooooooo cooooooool.

Sinjid: SotW on the top of your browser window means that you're playing a pretty cool RPG with lots of customization. Plus, you're a ninja. There's not really much else to say... it's a turn-based RPG with customization. And ninjas. Okay?!?!?

Shadowtext: It has been my goal in life to never ever drink alcohol, do other drugs, smoke cigar/ettes, or play Halo. So far, I have suceeded.

Also, the first two Harry Potter GBC games are... amazing. Like, seriously. Get an emulator and play them if weren't an obsessed fan when you were younger and bought them already. But man. They're some of the hardest, funniest, darkest and most bestest RPGs I've every played. I mean, come ON. You can attack final bosses with umbrellas! In the second one, you can charm enemies with autographs and gain extra EXP by hosting impromptu lectures mid-battle. Soooooo fuuuuuuuun.
