That's good but he might have to go to the doctors ever so often to make sure nothing comes back. But that's still good to hear.

yup! we went for surgery instead of chemo so hopefully everything should just be clean OUT AND DONE WITH but yes, all prepared for repeat visits. thanks pal (also @alec too).

been playing the version of force unleashed 2 that leaked 2 days early. it's pretty great - text is in russian but the voices are in english so it's not hard to follow. fucking major star wars nut, so there's no way i'd dislike it, but i really do like how much they've improved the game even if it's only like 4-5 hours long (aurgh...).

Why is it that when I load this page a song (that I don't recognize) plays?

EDIT: Also, discovered that I probably have Delayed sleep phase syndrome Which is probably because I spend so much time inside with the curtain's usually closed.

were you looking at reddit? 'cause i was reading a reddit thread and there was a link to that like five minutes ago. idk BIT OF A STRETCH BUT WE'RE ALL INTERNET PEOPLE HERE

Hey guys,

I know it's not much but Barkley has won Game Music of the Day over at GamesRadar. I know it's a pretty terrible site, but I think it's kind of cool to see the reach this game still has even after years. GJ Tales of Games.

Nah, it's definitely not that - the computer boots into windows and everything fine, and does the little windows TING when I push it again to turn it off. Thanks for the idea tho!

Hey guys!

I built a computer a few days ago, it has been running like a dream until now when it has sort of just STOPPED WORKING.

Earlier today before I went out, I shut it down, now I come back and when I turn it on, there's no display going to my monitor and to me it sounds like the fans are going absolutely fucking nuts, but I'm not sure if it's anymore than usual. These are the specs:

PSU: 650 W
CPU: Intel i7 950
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 5850
RAM: 4gb (2x2 gb) Kingston
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R MB

It seems to BOOT because if I plug my headset in, I can hear Windows boot up after like 30 seconds, and then when I hit the power button it does the usual noise for hibernating Windows. Basically yeah, there is no display outputting to the monitor (I've tried both DVI and HDMI input), and no beeps from the motherboard either - I'm not 100% sure if I've got a motherboard speaker on there mind you.

So here I am GW, help me out if you've got any good suggestions!

EDIT: There is no motherboard speaker. This would probably be a good idea.

Mmm idk, Christmas Carol is probably pretty close to Romeo and Juliet down here in Australia. I mean it's not the SAME LEVEL OF PRESTIGE or w/e, but certainly in terms of EVERYONE KNOWS IT OR HAS SEEN IT.

Has anyone ever played Grandia? It's 10 dollars on the PSN and I'm kind of sick of FF12 at the moment so I'm thinking of grabbing this or Wild Arms 1 or 2 which are only 6 bucks.

I really like FF12 but I think it's pretty obvious Vaan was just kind of thrown into the lead role for no apparent reason (unless after 40+ hours he stops being such a backseat character). I think they could of easily thrown a 4th party member in there and the battle system wouldn't of been any more complicated even with the 5th guest every once in awhile. The combat is just kind of boring now and I'm not to fond with the cast of characters. I mean you are in this world full of moogles and lizard men and bunny people and tiger people and they fill your party up with 5 humes and then Fran who is kind of dull.

I do like the plot so far and the music is pretty amazing in some parts of the game. Combat is okay but the license board is a little simplistic for my tastes.

Grandia and Wild ARMs 1 are my absolute favourite RPGs of all time. Get them both! Wild ARMs 2 is pretty good but not quite. Grandia has this really fantastic sense of ADVENTURE and ADVENTURING and it's really exciting, and imo it hasn't really been replicated since.

Hey guys, I am planning a big trip for the end of next year and I'm looking for ways to earn some extra dosh in the meantime.  I've got a pretty steady job at the moment, looking to maybe pile on another so I can get even more in, but I recall a while ago there were these places where you could decipher text/audio and get paid a certain amount, or click links, that sort of stuff. I'm interested in this sort of thing if anyone knows about it. I waste enough time on the internet as is, might as well be productive about it.

Soooo yeah. I know that it isn't going to be a lot of money but hey so said the man pissing into the ocean, every little bit counts. Also willing to take any tips that people might have apart from the obvious 'get a job, sell some of your old stuff you don't use', etc, etc.

Apparently I have to have a CT scan. Joy. I have been tested for HIV and hepatitis and a shitload of other stuff too the provisional good-news is that although they are inflamed in a well-distributed fashion my lymph nodes are smaller than your average cancer patient therefore it's more likely to be a really persistent bastard of a virus or a side-effect of the aforementioned skin drug. Can't wait to see that on paper, getting pretty annoyed with constant speculation and having a stiff neck.

Can't do exercise until they figure it out so no football for me. Grumble.

this is great news! having been through the same scares as you (earlier this year) and coming out okay, i am glad to see that thus far you are fine too, buddy. hope the ct scan turns out well for you too. i'm sure it will!

Dead Rising. I am liking everything about the game except for the progression system. The fact that you have to go out of your way to save the game combined with the fact that it punishes you by completely restarting from the beginning if you die makes for a pretty horrible experience. If the game would at least autosave after each boss or completed task/mission then it would be somewhat more tolerable.

Anyway it is still a good game aside from that, and I'll see if I have the motivation required to finish it. So far I haven't even been able to finish the first mission. :-(

I've found that I basically played the first hour of the game four or five times, getting so far and then restarting, levelling up along the way and doing different sidequests/exploring different areas each time to get more XP. After you've gotten to a decent level, which again took me four or five hours, I managed to go through the game at a pretty decent difficulty/pace. My advice is to ignore the story for now and just explore the mall, level yourself up a bit - the main helpers are those extra item slots!

Well, I think the game is extraordinarily awesome, along with nemesis.  I didn't feel like the game started terribly, and I'm a sucker for games with a mystery/thriller theme to it (the Condemned games are still some of my favorite games [the 2nd one kind of went overboard at the end, but was still great]).  I think the main aspect of the game that does it for me is the atmosphere.  I've been playing the game at night alone in my room, and the feeling has me tense and nervous at times.  I'm really enjoying the story (just at episode 4 at the moment), and my brother and dad who have both finished it by now say that the game is amazing.  Really, for all the gamers out there, it is a very enjoyable game, and I would recommend buying it.  I feel for the most part, people nowadays critique games too much and don't enjoy them enough; they go into the game trying to find the flaws instead of enjoying the good aspects.  But that is all mindless dribble....

No I definitely agree. I think the game started pretty strong as soon as you got out of the tutorial. The game does an excellent job at building atmosphere and tbh Barry is one of the more enjoyable characters I've come across in recent history. The fact that it plays out like a TV show at first kind of iffed me, but it actually works in this format.

My MAIN problem with the game is that it simply doesn't have enough going on for it; it pulls all its punches in the first three chapters, and there's nothing left to surprise you in the latter half of the game. The light 'em up and shoot 'em mechanic is pretty solid, but it all becomes a little old hat eventually. I really liked Alan Wake, definitely one of the better games I've played in the last year BUT I feel like it could've been strengthened if either a) it was shorter or b) they added a bit, well, more. IMO, it just doesn't have quite enough to carry the full 15 hours. The fact that they're supposedly adding a whole second season via DLC gives me a little hope, but I  remain skeptical...

i LOVED it back in the day!! i have beaten it like 10 times. illusion of gaia fucking rocks. one of the best action rpg's!! i just love its setting and how it's loosely based on real history and mythology (it has a lot of cool ideas and locations like inca stuff, the great wall of china, tower of babel etc.) and it's just friggin awesome. i need to replay it.
grandia is childish and silly but it's awesome. it's one of the best jrpg's for sure. it's so... pure. grandia 2 is just a shitty copy of it with an awful storyline and characters.

pure, that's a nice way of putting it. to me, grandia 1 is all just about ADVENTURE, and i don't think any game since has ever replicated that feeling of adventuring and exploring (except maybe skies of arcadia, but it's a whole different vibe). god damn it i love grandia.
