I'm looking to get as many old game creators (mostly ones from more than 10 years ago... well, the first version anyway) as I can up on the Software section of archive.org:

http://archive.org/search.php?query=subject:%22game%20creation%20software%22&sort=-publicdate

I'd appreciate any help!!! Post names, links to anything related to game creators of the past...

Here are some links I'm currently going through:

I've been looking for an old DOS-based Zelda-like game development toolkit called "Ace RPG Maker" or "Ace RPG" for the longest time. It was somewhat similar to the OHRRPGCE toolkit (which you may also want to check out) in style but was probably discontinued at some point. Let me know if you ever find it.

here's one I remember seeing and thinking I should try but never did: http://web.archive.org/web/20120118120433/http://www.dageport.com/ D.A.G.E. the Dog Adventure Game Engine... no luck finding a download of it so far...

edit: ahh, thanks to reaching out to the author of a Dage-based game on Twitter I now have a version!!

Apparently the Project Zelda Engine Ace has fired back up as of March of this year, and he's been looking for team members to help him out.

Well, there's the RPG Maker series of games if you like to make RPGs as well as Game Maker, both of which are pretty good for beginners and are fairly old. If you really, really want to go back however there's also the PC88 versions of RPG Maker and the fabled Famicom Basic which allows you to code minor famicom games.
