HELLOEARL!

Yeah, sometimes it consumes me a little. Like I strive to be really decent now, but there's still some shit that's like you can't undo, you know? I think maybe it's useful to have it pop up - I guess like how guilt ideally stops you repeating behaviour? But it adds like a bittersweet vibe to a lot of my memories unfortunately.

Getting like EXISTENTIAL or whatever, it's like how much am I the same person I used to be? Was it a different person - given your example, I imagine there's a significant difference in all ways between yourself now and the you when you were in 2nd grade (that's like eight or some shit right?) Where does that end - am I the same person and responsible for the things I did when I was 16, 17, 20, 25 etc etc? But even with that in mind, there's some shit that sometimes can remind a person of being a really objectionable piece of shit, and that's the shit that haunts me.

Shit, RAMBLING!!!!

One of my colleagues is super into this game (as am I obviously) and he convinced me to replay it recently. I had a whale of a time!

This is also one of the first games that my partner (of 12 years now wtf) and I played through together (after PAPER MARIO 2 and SUIKODEN 3!!) so it has a special place for us. Also there's this really expensive cloud statue sitting on our shelf that I am FOREVER UNFORGIVEN regarding because I knocked it and a bit of his hair broke off and now it will never be the same apparently. Like that genuinely gets brought up every six months or so like "WELL REMEMBER WHEN YOU BROKE THAT?"

I played it originally when I was like 11 or 12, just after I played suikoden, back in like 1997? I rented it overnight for £2 and basically begged my nan to let me get it for a week after fighting the robot scorpion, then rented it like incessantly thereafter. I get chills of EXCITEMENT whenever I think about it, really.

I had issues with Advent Children (to the point where I haven't seen it). I considered the original to have a fantastic ending (or like what I perceived the ending to be), really bittersweet. I didn't feel that I needed some ANOTHER ADVENTURE WITH THE GANG bullshit to come along (like hey i thought everyone die what happen).

I'm still going to get this remake, because it's like how can I not? But I am heavily reserving judgement and not letting myself get excited. I am also wary of the battle system. I LIKE taking turns to hit each other. When I first was playing Paper Mario 2 with my partner, his reaction was "WTF why are they standing around being polite and taking it in turns to do attacks", and like I couldn't explain why it was great. I had to SHOW - and he converted.Abstractions and shit man. I don't get annoyed at chess because I can't actually see the knight fuck a bishop up good and proper with a sword.

No, I get annoyed with chess because I suck at it.

Man I forget about this site and then something comes along and reminds me of it, in this case it was GamesMasterJasper, Semper Games! btw, people are still going on about that videom 8 years old and still going on, tis awesome.

This is basically how it is with me. Except for the "forget about" part. Like I regularly remember shit and am all "OH YEAH REMEMBER WHEN". Unfortunately, a certain amount of it is bad memories of doing disgusting shit to people.

This is a longshot, but if like anyone knew of RPGMinerva and has details, I'd like to get in touch. This is from the 2000-2003 era, so more than likely no one will, but JUST IN CASE.

Xanqui, you just summed up the significant differences between then and now.

Nothing I saw from the community back in the day was anything near 'To The Moon' and, as you also point out, was made using a pirated engine.

I'm a huge fan of the change in direction, as now we're actually getting some quality products worth paying for and playing.

Yeah man, some people make games and SELL them too!

As a side note, anyone bought any of the Rpgmaker games being sold on Steam? I've bought all of them, just need to find time to play them haha.

No way dude, long time no see! How's life working out? RPG Engine was the big exciting draw that got me into the community in the first place!

Are you still a NAVY?!

Yes, also, it is still here, a form of it anyway! "Grown" probably isn't the right word, but there are still some cool dudes around here and there!!!

Wow, that's excellent. Finishing a novel is no mean feat so kudos to this guy. Unfortunately you can't purchase them in the UK, otherwise I'd be happy to have these on my kindle.

EDIT: Totally lying. Turns out I just don't know how to internet - I can buy these from the UK Amazon. Good times. Only a couple of quid, too.

Well I knew next to nothing about it except for the name over and over. I've played precisely two minutes of it thus far (I started the game up after the like 12GB install!) then chose character class. I just thought there'd be something to it, given that I've had it for so long and there's a third one being made and shit.

By "same old shit" I mean "different to the few games I play now" by the way. I'm currently just playing CK2/EU4, a couple of Indie titles, and some older PSX RPGs. That's basically it.

the first one is nearly unplayable in its horribleness and I've owned the second ever since it came out and hadn't played it yet. Still....because of how shitty the first witcher is.
Dude, seriously? Why are you shitting all over my hopes and dreams.

I have been looking for a new game to get into and inspire me that isn't the same old shit for so long now, BRICK WALL AGAIN?!

@Witcher Discussion

I installed this last night. I bought it (And Witcher 2) in the GoG.com sale last Christmas, yet this is the first I've thought "OK, 12GB INSTALL, SURE" and gone for it. Sadly I only saw the intro and picked up a sword/killed some dudes, but I'm feeling POSITIVE AND EXCITED maybes?!

Anyone finished 'Raising Steam' by Terry Pratchett yet? What did people think?

I read reviews of it slating it before I bought it, accusing the publishers of taking advantage of Sir Terry and laughing at him (i.e. just releasing trash to sell, even though he's no longer capable). I'm 2/3rds of the way through currently and can honestly say that it's the Discworld book that's gotten me the most excited since 'Night Watch'. I love Harry King's reintroduction, I like the industrialisation vibe, I'm loving the ham-fisted luddite-religious angle with the Dwarf plot. Everything seems well tied together for a 30th anniversary, 40th book spectacular. I just hope it doesn't lose momentum towards the end now (LIKE A TRAIN, GET IT, BECAUSE THAT WOULD SUCK IF IT HAPPENED TO A TRAIN TOO, IT WOULDN'T GET TO ITS DESTINATION!!!)

Does anyone agree, or are there criticisms that are apparent that I'm not picking up on due to rose-tintedness and shit?

'O Brother Where Art Thou?' is an amazing movie! I've loved everything I've seen by the Coen Brothers, and was especially excited to hear that John Goodman was in it. Also: The guy who plays Buck Strickland from 'King of the Hill' - OOOOHWEEEE That's a mighty fine pickin' and a singin'!" Classic.

Last movie I watched:

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Weird fucking movie from the 60s, about two sisters who were movie stars. Very creepy, very intense regarding their relationship (one systematically abusing the other), huge twist, genius comic-relief 'Hallo I'm an English fellow' character adding to the narrative - fine piece. I didn't even want to watch it, but after 12 Angry Men I figured 'No that looks dull' totally wasn't a valid reason for film-avoidery any more. Good times.

I will send out the prizes from the last jam soon. I will be super embarrassed if I don't do it before the new jam.

I have been either very busy or very tired or very disorganised.

If the rumours of a UK SW meetup transpire in the next month or so then that would be a neat time to hand it over.

The hell meetup is this? I've been planning to go see sare for years (and maybe DAJHAIL) but suddenly there is a secret possible clubhouse meeting? What gives.
