Ok, so my aunt called me up to tell me that she needed to print out some papers from my computer. I said it was ok, she said she would come by in 20 minutes. It was all going fine, until I saw what she was printing and it was something about legal papers. I asked her, what kind? She said its an inheritance. I said oh cool how much, when she told me it was 50,000 dollars I was kinda shocked. She said it's 50k for her, and 50k for her brother my uncle. I asked how? Why? She told me because supposedly her father's aunt got shot by terrorists, and him and his family sued the country of Israel. I told her wow, that's pretty sick, but what about my father? Then I remembered, that my grandmother got divorced from victor(my aunt's father) in 1992, the married mario(my grandfather)..who is my fathers dad. And this is all pretty sick, I mean for the whole inheriting family, its 10 million dollars. WOAH. Anyways, just wanted to share this with you guys..and to actually make a topic, have any of you guys ever inherited something?
-
That story confused me, no I have never inherited anything. But on a positive side none of my relatives have died and I've never attended a funeral either.
-
Yeah sorry if it did. I typed this up from my cellphone and I can't really see what I did before so I'm kinda running on my memory right now. Ill try and clarify later.
-
its kind of fucked up you can sue a country for having terrorists in it.
-
I inherited the predisposition for heart disease
-
i inherited a predisposition for alcoholism
-
i can roll my tounge
50k isn't all that much once you take out taxes and funeral expenses
-
Theres no funeral expenses. The woman died in 1994. She's just getting her inheritance now. But still. If you add up her inheritance, plus the 50k my uncles is getting plus the 50k that my grandmother is getting(I just got notified of this now) its actually a lot of money.
-
i was set to inherit 100k from relatives a few years ago but the executor of the estate thought it would be best to employ remarkably unethical(yet somehow legal) tactics to pocket all the money
so no, i haven't
-
My dad inherited money from his parents and payed off our house and built an addition and shit.
-
as soon as I read the opening post, I thought of you hundley.
i inherited a book of mormon from my grandma.

How exactly did she pull that off?

dumb luck more than anything else. the bank that witnessed the wills forgot to get TWO witness signatures on the will, even though there were allegedly enough people present to do so. maryland law states that a will is invalid unless those two signatures appear on the will. some stupid fuck forgot to sign the wills and it cost me 100k basically.
couldn't very easily sue the bank either because it(no surprise) went under and got bought out a year or so after the will was signed, so we would have had to sue the company that bought the bank that fucked me. they probably would have REALLY FOUGHT US ON THIS and we didn't have the money for the legal fees.
although objectively speaking i'm better off with all this having happened the way it did. you don't learn much when you get everything handed to you. writers without shit to be pissed off about are pretty fucking worthless.

yeah but you coulda had a car with those spinning rims....
-
or 100,000 mcdonalds double cheeseburgers.......

Hi anonymous downtrodden insomniac. We can get your old account reinstated should you desire it, by the way!
I've never inherited anything in my life and I don't expect to ever receive any significant sum of money that way. I suspect that my rich distant uncle who was the star player for the Seattle SuperSonics and seven-time NBA All-Star does not have me in his will. That's okay though, I generally don't actually use most of the money I possess.

there will be a proper time and place for this........

most of my family is either poor as shit or don't have very much to do with me.
Not getting anything from my grandpa for sure though because my uncle is a miserable piece of shit thats getting my gramps place because if he didn't then he'd have to be smoking crack on the street and we wouldn't want that now would we. I don't know if my grandma or grandpa had/have any life insurance policies or anything like that but it'll most likely be a huge mess when it comes to that. My aunts and uncles are already fighting over what my grandpa is doing with his money and whats going where and he isn't even dead yet and I feel incredibly bad about it because he's all alone since my grandma died last year and he's got to put up with this stupid shit.
And my other grandpa is pretty much a lonely old self-centered dick that I've only seen a handful of times in my life and has pretty much nothing to do with my mom or any of her kids.
I don't want anything from anyone though, I guess it would be cool for someone to think of me after they'd pass like that but I don't see it happening.

you should cozy up with gramps if only to prevent your bickering relatives from having anything.
that's fucked up to talk about things like that im never going to have kids
-
nah the thing is that they probably aren't going to get much if anything.
I'm pretty sure besides stuff here and there the house is all my gramps really has and its going to my loser crackhead uncle. He might have a policy or something saved up but I'm not sure about that and its pretty unlikely seeing as how my grandma spent alot of money paying for my uncles car, my uncles bills at the trailer my gramps and grams owned that my uncle and cousin stay at and my uncle's debt that he charged up from a credit card he stole from my deaf great uncle.
She did all of this and hid some of the fucked up shit my uncle was doing with terminal cancer and no one finding out about it until long after she died.
My cousin is cool as fuck though, somehow he's got all of my grandpa's estate under his name and he asked my gramps if he wanted to go gambling with his money so none of those fuckers get anything and because my gramps likes gambling.
-
also kids suck dude, seriously. They only come out right if you can raise them right and its hard as fuck trying to get by nowadays let alone devoting most of your time to raise some kids so they won't be total shitheads. And even then if you do everything right or to the best of your ability you've only got the luck of the draw because some kids just come out shitty no matter what.
I figure I'm atleast a half-decent person and I argue and hold grudges against my parents for all kinds of stupid shit but I would never even consider fighting with my brothers over who gets what when they die.
Maybe its because I'm not sentimental at all and I could give a shit less about what my parents have. Or maybe they're just really fucking selfish I honestly don't know but I want to bitch slap every single one of them for being stupid.
I'd tell them they're stupid but they never come around and just talk shit about each other like a bunch of fucking children.

By the way I didn't mean to imply that he should put me in his will. I've never even met him, but he is related. I was talking about Jack Sikma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Sikma).
I had no idea the Sonics had relocated! What on earth would they do that for?

My release sense is tingling....

Actually, if I were you I would kiss his ass for about a year or two...then insert a magical potion that will kill him in about 4 or 5 months, then really be there for him...He will never know it was you... and you will probably inherit around 200k so smile okay?

They lost all their good players and pretty much sucked. Ticket sales went down and people in the area just lost interest.
