This is probably one of my favorite books ever so i've been eagerly anticipating the movie adaptation! Viggo Mortensen will play as The Man, while Kodi Smit-McPhee will play The Boy. Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, and Robert DuVall will all make cameo appearances, most notably Charlize Theron who will play an expanded role as The Mother.

so yeah discuss the new trailer and this movie! if it's anywhere near as good as the book i will be quite satisfied.

the book had some of the most disturbing scenes i've ever read. this movie better be rated R.

dude.  I fucking loved that book,


but that trailer is terrible.  Like its ok but man.  They handled this so differently than the way the book read.

Part of what ruined the trailer was the AWFUL MUSIC.  WHO SCORED THAT.  FIVE YEAR OLD WITH A KEYBOARD SET TO ORCHESTRAL HITS JESUS CHRIST.  Man, that totally ruined the intensity of it, that was action movie trailer music.

It might be ok though.

Man though, the road is one of my favorite books.  Seriously, such an intense book.  Its so realistic.

mine too. the BABY SCENE and the TRAILER scene are two of the most disturbing things. plus yes it's so realistic. what a great book!

you should check out blood meridian too (if you haven't already)

I'll see this movie but best I can tell I don't like the changes they made because they seem calculated to get more people to go and see if for boring reasons.

it looks like they're turning it into a fleeing from cannibals movie. like mad max with cannibals.

i mean the book didn't even have any actiony scenes in it at all.

i just finished reading this and i was wondering if there would be a movie adaptation but i didn't know if it would be that interesting as a movie ... i mean most of it is just them on the road basically until the end and PEOPLE. WANT. ACTION.

Yeah, but whats this line from the wife?  "what if they catch up with us?"

I dont think she ever says THAT.  She says some other stuff and she .

yeah the only big change i know about from the book is they expanded the role of the wife in the beginning. i think the movie will show a little bit before the cataclysm takes place to kind of set things up (which the book didn't do)

not really the scenes with cannibals were pretty spread out and only lasted a page or two each.

also what bothers me the most is that it really looks from the trailer that they are making this a movie about cannibals. the book had them as a semiprominent role but it wasn't a book about running from cannibals.

well  it is a trailer. they're typically made up of the most CONTROVERSIAL or ACTIONY sequences so who knows?? they're really misleading 99% of the time (terminator salvation)

that was a really bad trailer

and i heard ncfom was a really bad book! apparently this one is good?? maybe ncfom was bad book/good movie and this will be good book/bad movie

Maybe one of your buddies thought it was crap but I don't think any of Cormac McCarthy's books are dismissed as just bad. He's one of the better regarded American writers around, as far as I can tell.

On second watching, the trailer is not as bad.

The music is just reeeeeeeeeally shitty and obtrusive when they get to the action parts.
