Title: Ontario GW Meet - Starting July 17th -- Confirm or forever be denied -- FIRST POST UPDATED

Ok, the day draws near.  This topic is for final discussion and for people to confirm or bail out so as to give me a general idea of who all is going to be here.

Current plan is for everyone to show up on Friday before 5pm or so if possible.  We'll hang out here and head to downtown London for whatever people want to do, some Laser Quest, some shopping, some eating, whatever else. 

Saturday we'll be heading out for Grand Bend (beach town) in the morning and staying there for several hours.  There's lots to do there besides just the beach.  After that we'll come back and figure out what we want our Saturday night plans to be.  Possible options are hang out at my house, go to the movie theatre again for a movie, go to the drive-in for a movie, or perhaps head to downtown London if we didn't get a chance on Friday.

Sunday will be usual Sunday and some of us will be heading back to Mamamack's again like at the winter meet.  Everyone else is free to head home/wherever whenever they wish.

I'll be cooking meals this time around when we're at my house and if anyone is vegetarian/other speak up so I can arrange the meals accordingly.

MEALS: I'll pitch in as usual; just, please, NO SEAFOOD. I still think fajitas is a good option - it avoids use of the oven (we can make the meat in my slow cooker and pan fry veggies), people can put whatever they want on the wraps (that we can get gluten-free) and there isn't a need to cook side dishes since everything winds up wrapped up in the fajita. Also, I have about 20 pounds of beef in my freezer, so if we can put any of that to use I'd be more than happy to bring it with.

Yeah, the plan for Saturday is to make tacos/fajitas.  A slowcooker would be awesome as would some of the beef.  I've got a skillet and a stirfrying pan so we're good in that department.  Also I'll be making some rice, fried beans, a salad, and a dessert of some sort.  On Friday night we'll very likely be eating while we're out and about in London.

Yep, there's a Via station in London.  I checked the times for arrivals on Friday and there's two that arrive at 2:20.  One leaves Toronto at 11:05 the other at 12:10.  There's more trains that day if those times don't work for you.  There are also trains that leave Oshawa and arrive in Toronto, linking up with those two that head to London, however there'd be a bit of a layover and the trains leave Oshawa at 9:51am.

I know I can take the GO to Union, I just wasn't sure exactly how far the GO went or if I had to change to VIA or ???. I'll look into it more later.

Yeah, those departures from Toronto are from Union.  There's earlier and later ones as well if you want to show up in London at a different time.  If you took a later train you could meet us when we're all downtown, perhaps.

Farmrush, if you take the Union express (bus) to Hamilton (it's like $12 I think and it leaves every 20 mins) I can pick you up and we can head down together (the Hamilton Go Station is like 3 blocks from my apartment)

I usually bring shit-tons of bedding, so if one or two people forget anything we should be all right. I also have loads of sunscreen, just in case. Are we bringing a cooler to the beach?

Girls: If we wind up doing laser tag, I HIGHLY recommend running shoes or something with a closed toe and no heel.

We could bring a cooler but there's tons of places we could eat and tbh making sandwiches and getting drinks would be a bit of work especially if we head off in groups to places.  One of the possible spots to eat is an authentic Scottish and Irish bakery that has a lot of pastries and other things for lunch/snacks.  I'll be going there as it's run by friends of my family.

Yeah, we have a ps3 and lbp so you won't ned to bring yours, however we only have two controllers so if you could bring a couple that'd be perfect, I have sixaxis ones so if you do too we'll mark yours with masking tape or something.  Also if you could remember to bring those printouts that'd be great.

so yeah, grand bend should be cool. as i mentioned in a pm to izekeal, i'm staying in a cabin that is right by the beach, and if anyone wanted to drop off any stuff (towels, bags, etc.) there before going to walk the strip and stuff, that'd be fine.

p.s. i'm 15 now; i actually do age :O

hah, don't worry, my family is full of nerds. my dad has met his WoW friends in real life before, haha. my brothers have also gone to some meets before too, for LUElinks/Facepunch/etc... my parents think it's fine as long as i'm just sticking around in Grand Bend. we can stop by the cabin no problem if we need to, but mostly i'm sure we'll just be walking the strip and stuff. there's a bunch of good food places there, too.

Unfortunately, with the way the board's situated, Go! is somewhere out in Lake Huron.  I don't think any of us have a boat driving license so I guess we'll have do go without a free $200.

for me it was sitting on the beach, insulting dragonx and playing mini-golf with some pedophiles (Sarevok, Jeff, HybridZero, and Izekeal). they all got complementary photos which will need to be posted here soon!

p.s. i am still staying in grand bend but my cottage has no internet connection, so currently i am camping outside a hotel with a jacket hanging over my laptop screen and my head to block the sun. im sure i look weird but i've gone 2 days without internet and im desperate

sorry dude, we're just renting it ourselves. we don't own one up here but maybe someday we'll buy one (since we come up here every year). we have a really nice cottage this year; the guy who owns it has a lot of cottages around here (Woodley Cottages-- just search for it). he has some great places and i think they're priced pretty well.

This was the best meet so far. We just played cards and shit but it was awesome. Sare jumped out of a plane, that was cool. And it didn't feel like a GW meet. morelike a meeting of friends. Looking forward to the next one.

Alrighty, so I'm back home after the super-meet, t'was good fun.
