Hey.
I didn't want to send out a PM in case I'd forget someone, but we've decided to remove mods permanently since the forum is lacking in activity. We feel that since we are going back to basics with everything else it would be best to start with a clean slate and mod people when they are actually needed.
We'd also like to recommend that people use the report button more often. It helps prevent spam and bad posts.
Thanks pals.

This is all I have to say to you, Drule:

Actually no, in all seriousness I saw this coming from the get-go, even though I thought there would be another global mod or two to make up for the change. It's a pretty smart move given the overall activity of the forums.
-
What are.... mods?? Some sort of CBS?
The move makes sense. In the past it seemed like everyone was a mod and we had more people talking about things in the mod forum than the rest of GW.

my life is over as i know it

Yesterday, I saw an adbot that had been registered and posting for a week. Are we to expect that a couple admins will be able to combat such hostilities with the haste of an entire moderation team?

Yeah, I saw this too. You know I don't care if you don't mod me again, but having none at all is a pretty bad idea. You told me about this idea you had about not being able to make topics without 10 posts in order to limit adbots or whatever but uh, if we had mods we could just delete the topics they make.
-
Maybe just have like four of five.
-
i foresaw this in a dream a couple days ago
-
Drule, the anarcho-monarchist
But I think there could be one or two global mods
-
We banned the bot on day one but it was unbanned because I cleared the banlist. It's not the end of the world.
What's funny though is that none of you reported any of the spam, except for Warman.
-
Why did you write a note to no one?
Also, as others have suggested, 1-2 global mods would help.
-
Drule did say that they would appoint mods when needed, so I'm not too worried. Although I do agree that having one to two global mods would be a good idea for the time being.

:welp:

Mwahahaha...
...My plan is nearly COMPLETE!
With those silly mods out of the way...I can TAKE OVER GAMING WORLD!
-
well we had 2 gmods but drule didn't like me so its just one now

July 20th, 2009: Drule appoints himself grand chancellor of Gaming World Seven.
July 21st, 2009: World War 3.
-
Drule we should probably have mods.
-
It is kind of ridiculous to expect two people to manage an entire forum 24/7, especially with all of the mainsite stuff AND the forums. Not like AS MANY MODS AS WE HAD BEFORE but idk two or three would help!
-
Yeah, I'm just going to basically say what I said in my original reply. Have a few mods, at least. Just two admins?
I don't know, at least keep ATARI. He served as a GW mod for an incredible length of time and he did a pretty swell job at it so.. I don't know, why not at least keep him on board?

haven't been a regular member since 2003

ADBOTS WILL SPAM THE FORUMS WITH ACAI BERRIES WE NEED AN ARMY
-
I'll talk to Drule about this, but you guys are panicking for no reason. I'm pretty sure the plan is/was to add moderators soon after the forum rearrangement and the mainsite launch. I don't think we are going to have 3 mods for EVERY SUBFORUM but I think 4-6 mods will be good.
-
mod everyone

mod everyone

OK great.
