rapidshare is slow as balls and you're capped on the amount of downloads you can get
mediafire is really fast and you can download a lot, even simultaneously
all unless you of course have a rapidshare account
-
i usually go megaupload because that works just as well, mediafire isn't all that fast for me at least where I live.
-
am i gonna get busted using these sites at uni or what
-
nah for the most part such a small percentage of downloaders go through getting albums this way that you're pretty much bound to never be caught
it's much more noticable with torrents
that and if you get the files from blogs then most of the links are just acronyms of the albums.
-
rapidshare is more popular than mediafire thus more chances to find rare stuff, and I'm not in hurries to get an album
-
searching only blogspot sites is a good way to find rapidshare links too
-
Soulseek is always my favored option for finding more obscure music and albums... although I wouldn't say Yo La Tengo are entirely "obscure"... still yeah... Soulseek is good for getting musics: http://www.slsknet.org/
Didn't really get a chance to listen to much of or play the new album by 'em on my radio show since I'm on hiatus now... but it did come into the station and I got to hear a little bit of it. Sounds pretty nice!
-
i thought this was a topic about popular music. I really like a lot of popular music right now
-
google what you want and add blogspot at the end
always works.
also what the fuck duckhugger?!?!
-
why has no one ever told me about neutral milk hotel....
why! i demand
-
nmh rules. they are all over the place, how could you have never heard of them man?

i don't know. tbh i'm not really into that scene AT ALL so i've probably just overlooked it for a long time. it's only been recently i've stopped listening to basically 100% rap music cuz i feel like i've almost tapped out that genre but yeah i like it a lot. Holland, 1945 is my jam.
but i know you're into that kinda stuff so you should drop me some recommendations that remain in that kinda vein! also been listening to lots of ac and panda bear recently, got spacemen 3 that shits top notch as well.
i dont know if these four artists really uh correspond to a particular genre or group but theyre pretty representative of the way my music tastes have been drifting as of late
dont have much of a penchant for over arching sound scape music though, animal collective is about how much i can take on that front otherwise i get bored
-
If you're into the whole noise pop sort of thing check out Wavves, Vivian Girls, No Age. if you want just acoustic shit try mountain goats, devendra banhart, elliott smith (though these are all pretty obvious).
for spacemen 3-like bands the best one i can think of and absolutely love is Loop. extremely underrated but if you can try to find the album 'the world in your eyes' its v. good. the telescopes are in a pretty similar vein. a place to bury strangers are really good too, they just released a new album though i prefer the older one. galaxie 500, the fall, can and faust are also all good older bands worth checking out for sure.
if you want newer stuff try checking out the Horrors (both the first and latest albums), also just started listening to sparklehorse, he's really good too and usually does collabs with artists like iggy pop and vic chesnutt. i only have the album 'dark night of the soul' right now but you should check it out and see if you like it

I'm into washed out electro surf stuff.
A la Neon Indian, Washed Out, Memory Cassette, and to a lesser extent, Teengirl Fantasy.
Teengirl Fantasy is SO GREAT

who knew animal collective is probably the least eclectic of your music tastes
-
it wasn't a joke. they won't hit everything and you shouldn't read any of the reviews because they're all written by dumb people, but aside from that it's a pretty decent source if you're interested in this stuff. I mean when I clicked the link the front page article was about NMH so
aslso DJ Soup is shepperd idk if that means anything to you
-
i knew that but i don't know why it's relevant

I'm not really getting your point here.
AC is one of the most eclectic bands out there.
also about the Neon Indian and co.
They sort of hint what my next album will be like
-
i don't really want to make a new topic but i feel like this is more of a casual place ot talk about music so it can be that now okay.
have you guys heard of pissed jeans? i just got their 2009 album king of jeans and its excellent. a really sludgy heavy sound (though not as noisy as their previous record, it seems). really reminds me of jesus lizard, butthole surfers and the melvins
