Title: Photoshop 8-bit makeover
Post by: phimseto on October 01, 2009, 07:31:59 pm
So here's a question.  I have a nice copy of photoshop and was wondering if it was possible to use it to give pictures and photographs some kind of makeover so they look vaguely 8-bit-ish?   Obviously, it doesn't have to be an exact look, but for those of you who had the program (and I'm not really versed in its advanced features), how would you go about achieving that kind of result?

Thanks in advance!

This: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/174736/photoshop_tutorial_how_to_pixelate.html?cat=15 is probably what you're looking for. Basically, the Pixelate filter will do what you want.

pixelate + saturate. it is the key to success.

in fact if you can find a palette for a classic NES game you could recolour it to look more 'authentic'
