If you really want to know how to look emo just do an image search for "hot emo guy" or something. But yeah, why do you need to do this, exactly?

I was wearing a black dress shirt with a red tie, and my hair had grown back from a clipper job almost a year earlier into a half devil-lock/emo-curl. When my best friend came out to one of our shows, he took me aside and in all seriousness grabbed my shoulders and shouted "STOP LISTENING TO AFI!!!!" at me.

which is pretty much what green day is trying to look like

me and my mom had a conversation last weekend about how green day has not aged gracefully, they are pretty close to being in their 40s trying to look like 18 year olds
