Title: Hip-hop/rap instrumentals
Post by: goldenratio on October 10, 2009, 11:46:14 pm
So hey are there any like hip-hop or rap instrumentalists, or some kind of album that's like rap beats without lyrics or whatever?

The only real artist I know is alias from anticon. I love his shit, but it doesn't need to be like alias I suppose. And I don't mean trip-hop or stuff like DJ Shadow or anything. Really just like hip-hip or rap beats, not necessarily famous ones but like does DJ MANNY or whoever that one guy who does like every hip hop beat ever has like albums of his own without lyrics over it?

pls halp ;)

I don't know if you've already checked it out but Jdilla did alot of instrumental beat albums and he's done some pretty sick ass beats (like soweto with heiroglyphics) steel likes him alot and he's admittedly really good so check that out for starters

really most big rap acts release albums of just instrumentals, and if not they are often leaked. just do a search for LIL WAYNE INSTRUMENTALS or whatever and youll find em

The hiphop instrumentals I like the most are the ones that RJD2 does. Especially this one he did for MF Doom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR8r1ULhVEM
He also does albums kind of like Alias does with just instrumentals that are not really built to rap over. Deadringer is a pretty good one of those but you probably already listened to it.

Actually, I mentioned MF Doom before, he sometimes makes instrumentals for himself. He releases them on albums called 'Special Herbs' under the name Metal Fingers. There's like ten of these or something. Some of the instrumentals on them are awesome and others are boring.

Also EL-P put out the instrumentals he did for Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein. He is one thousand million times better as producing than he is at rapping/writing and Cannibal Ox rules so I highly recommend looking into that if you didn't already.

Hope some of this was what you were looking for.
