Hi there!
I'm working on the VGMDS 2 project, and a new, official forum has just been opened!
-> VGMDS.COM (http://VGMDS.COM) (finally)
This version aimed to work on the most common platforms:
- PC (mainly)
- Mac
- Wii
- Xbox 360
- Nintendo DS (low resources)
- PSP
- And maybe other versions...
And will be collaborative, so I mean that users will be able to
create their project together, through the internet. Several people developping
the same project in the same time Wink!
Of course, multiplayer is OK.
The programmation method is new, and will prevent a maximum of bugs,
so I want that each functionnality working will work 100% bug-free.
I'm programming a demo, that I'll release to a few beta-testers to improve the project!
-
Is it going to be free?
-
Probably.
-
Do you have screenshots?
-
The current alpha version is a little too ugly to show screenshots, but I'm working on the interface so in a few day I'll release them, and maybe a video demonstration "mapping together through internet" :).
-
So right now...it's just a forum?
-
No, there is an alpha-version, and a beta test will come out in some days.
The forum is already in place because I'll release the beta test before November,
and I want all suggestions of the VGMDS Communauty (VGMC forums).
I'm currently working on the graphic part, so I released the first screenshot of the program today:

At this time, the collaborative map-making works perfectly,
I hope I can diffuse a video of demonstration soon.
-
That is the worst user interface I have ever seen. But the concept is pretty cool. I like the idea of collaborative game making.

Globoeil just recently contacted me again. I had previously shown him these mock-ups for the DS version:

I am not responsible for the interface in that alpha PC build screenshot... looks like he needs my help :)

The laser lights going on in the background look kind of cheesy. The rest of your UI looks one hell of a lot better than the other one, though.
-
I think I will made a new interface for the beta test, I agree with you, the one I made was crappy.
Today, an alpha closed-test was made:
3 clients (2 Windows XP, 1 Windows Vista 64) mapping on the same map together,
it worked perfectly :)!
-
I've juste made a new skin for the interface, the old wasn't so good...
Mapping system works correctly, so the closed beta time is approaching.
I'll post some videos of collaborative mapping in a few days I think.

The fonts in those screenshots are pretty readable, but I'm sure you could pick another font that's even readabler.

I've made a few videos to demonstate how VGMDS2 works.
The collaborative feature is the main thing to show.
Official videos are on dailymotion:
The first video shows me and TheDuke creating a map togoether :).

TheDuke side: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xaw53y_vgmds2-collaborative-mapping-1-thed_tech
The second video show always me and TheDuke creating a map but with Zelda 3 chipset, the same used some years ago to demonstrate the Zelda level with VGMDS 0.9x.
