So I've been really wanting to get a new gen console. But I don't have that much money. So I'm thinking of selling my (PS2 Phat model) with like 30 games (I have like 38 all together but I want to keep em) to cash converters/or you can recommend me some other store. How much would I get towards getting a PS3 how much would I end up having to pay?
I really need a PS3 for these awesome looking rpg's coming out:
White KNight Chronicles
Lost Odyssey
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII versus
Kingdom Hearts III
Dragon Ball Z game
Final Fantasy XIV
the Ratchet and Clank games
(The list goes on.)
By the Way I'm in Australia if that makes a difference.

The only real answer to this question is "depends", sorry. Depends on which games, depends on how you sell them, depends on whether or not they sell, there is no solid answer for you sorry.
-
I'll be honest with you and say you will get very little! I'd say keep them and save up money, the amount of money you get from selling all of those games won't nearly be enough for you to buy a next gen console! You got a good collection of PS2 games I would keep them. Selling PS2 games these you would get something like 50 cents to 1 dollar I have tried selling mine but I decided to keep them instead, they are worth more to me than a freaking $0.50 that some shops offer.

put it like this youd probably get 5 bux for each game so far thats 150 and like another 30 for the console so pretty much 180 so another 120 for a 360 arcade console or like another 200 for a ps3

Yeah okay dude, you're in Australia. I'm gonna be honest, shops down here give you shit all for PS2 games, that's why you see them selling for like 10 bucks a piece. Considering the amount they give you in proportion, it ain't worth it - even Cash Converters would be a stretch. Try selling on eBay or something, people tend to buy stuff for a reasonable price there (well, more reasonable than your local EB)?
Also Lost Odyssey is 360 only!

Damn! that sucks looks like I won't have a next gen console for awhile I'll still probably try trading it in if I get at least $200 (yeah I know thats stretching it ALOT!)I'll just do it and save the money til I have enough.
You sure Lost Odysseys only on xbox 360 oh well you can replace that with Disgaea 3 anyways.
 This is what I'm doing now I'm sad.
EDIT:By the way I'm not completely cheap I still have a DS and a PSP to enjoy.

I just realized you're Australian so idk if you were talking in Australian dollars or USD throughout this post, but my answer is using USD so figure it out:
Trading it in you are not going to get anywhere NEAR $200, don't bother doing this. Even through ebay we're talking more like $150 at most. And that's assuming you're selling them all in one big bundle, you're likely to get way less if you sell them individually because you'd be taking into account that most titles aren't going to sell for a lot, whereas when you sell them together people are a lot more likely to accept having titles they don't really care about in there.
And like I said, the actual correct answer is 'it depends', this is just if things go RIGHT for you. I wouldn't assume any sort of price, if you're going to sell these things then go in expecting to be disappointed.
Also Lost Odyssey was published by Microsoft so yeah I wouldn't be expecting a PS3 port any time soon.

When I picked up my 360, I traded in my PS2, my Xbox and all the games I had for both (about 20 of the "must-haves"). I got about $60 for all of it. This was over a year ago. You're not going to get anywhere near $200. Sorry, trading is a great way to save money from game to game, but when you're looking at bigger purchases you have to weigh your options.
Are you EVER going to play any of those PS2 games ever again? If you're not, then just trade them regardless of what you get. It'll be better then them sitting around doing nothing. As far as I know the PS3s are no longer backwards compatible, so you'll need to keep your PS2 to play them. Just some things to keep in mind.
All I have to say is the PS3 is definitely worth the $299 (in Canada) now. Great exclusives like Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, Infamous and Ratchet & Clank definitely make this system worth it. Used to be a 360 guy, but I'm slowly favouring the PS3.
Good luck!

no way man if you aren't going to get shit for them hang onto them, just because you don't want to play them now doesn't mean you won't want to play them a year from now. unless a game was REALLY AWFUL (in which case you probably would have already traded it in) then you can't tell whether or not you'll never want to replay it, unless you can sell it for at least a COUPLE of dollars then keep it.
