Title: Attempting to remember a PC strategy game from the 90s...
Post by: Corfaisus on December 16, 2009, 01:59:33 pm
Though I haven't seen this since 2000 at latest, and this game belonged to one of my old friends, I am still attempting to remember what it was called. It seemed like it was a sort of strategic war game based in medieval times that gave you control of a small army to move across the world or continent, I can't remember, to fight back monsters that inhabited it. One detail that stuck out very clearly was a way to summon fiends. I believe you were given a choice of what to summon, and then after said choice, a small scene would play of the fiend rising from the cauldron with a message underneath saying something like, "You have learned how to summon (name)." This scene would play in the same graphics that the rest of the game ran in (no CG cutscene).

I can't remember the name of the game, or even the company that might have produced it, as I only laid eyes on it once in my life.

That's definitely not populous because I got the game. It sounds like a cool game though.

It's not Dungeon keeper either for sure because that took place underground and you played the monsters in that one.

Was it a Heroes of Might and Magic game?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_of_Might_and_Magic_II maybe?

I havent actually played the older HOMM games so this is just a guess.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_of_Might_and_Magic for a list of all titles.
