Title: Rm2k midi problem, fixable?
Post by: Daniel3579 on December 30, 2009, 09:55:07 pm
Yeah, I'm sure you all know about the problem that Rm2k has with midis, where it sometimes plays the midi differently (or most of the time with some midis).  Is there any way to fix this by replacing the harmony.dll or something of the sort? Thanks in advance.

...Can you clarify what you mean by "plays the midi differently"? How so? Is it distorted, muffled, etc.

I think it means that sometimes midis don't sound the same in rm2k, don't know how to fix it, it's really annoying when you have a nice midi and rm2k plays it with only piano tracks :/

Make sure to save your MIDI file as format 1 and not format 0?

Try exporting your midis (if you are) from a different program.

You may have two software synths (if you're using a sound card).

Try restarting the game! :P Also try resetting your midi synth- I have a midi I found somewhere that automatically resets the mapper when played- originally for GM but seems to work on my GS as well.  If you're playing someone else's game, play it in your  media player. If it's a game you're making,  add it to the resources and have it play at times when you have no music as the midi has no sound itself and is only a few seconds long.  I don't remember where I got it, but I maybe be to share it with you.
