BEER!!!
Until a couple of years ago, the only beer I ever drank was the occasional Sam Adams or Heineken. Then my roommate gradually introduced me to some different beers like Harpoon IPA and Magic Hat #9. When I turned 21, I discovered this sweet local bar/restaurant called Sunset Grill & Tap (http://www.allstonsfinest.com/) that has >110 beers on tap. Ever since then, I've been fascinated with trying new beers.
Personally, I love IPA's and Double IPA's. My absolute favorite beer is Dogfish Head 90 Minute (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10099/2093). It's got this faint grapefruit aroma and faint citrusy aftertaste that gives me an orgasm and a half...
For IPA's, I also like Bear Republic Racer 5 (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/610/2751) and, more recently, Legunitas Maximus (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/220/1372).
Other beers I've enjoyed: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/140/276), Allagash White (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4/59), Magic Hat #9 (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/96/299), Whale's Tale Pale Ale (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/261/1439)
I've tried a few porters and stouts and here and there but I'm not really a big fan of darker beers. Yeti Imperial Stout (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/158/12013) was pretty good, as was Founder's Breakfast Stout (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/style/157) but they're not beers I could drink regularly. Any recommendations would be nice!
Talk about your favorite beer here! What are you favorite/least favorite styles of beer?

i am a poor man (also 20, but my girlfriend is 21 so w/e) so i stick with PBR. for the money it's da best beer around imo. being under 21 has kinda limited my BEER TASTIN' abilities though
-
also michelob ultra rules
-
leffe dubbel (http://media.beeroverip.org/beers/leffe-brune-2.jpg)
-
I am unsure if I have access to all the different types of beers you guys have overseas and shit, but since I turned 18 I've been to a couple of pubs/bars/whatever and I'm partial to Corona mostly. Though if anyone decides to come to New Zealand and wants to try New Zealand beers, try Radler, it's fucking great.

I had this the other day and it was pretty nice as a novelty to the other ales I was drinking. taste like banana (why it's called banana BREAD beer not just banana beer idk)
-
I'm more of a wine cooler guy (pussy). But I do like my Heineken. I honestly haven't dabble all that much into beers though, so I'm sure I'm missing out on all the fancy stuff, although given my general lack of interest in most beer, I am not particularly concerned about it at this time.
-
The best beer I've ever had was a nameless honey beer in a basement pub in Tallinn, Estonia.
-
Favorite beer is Mac & Jacks African amber. Its a heavy and strong beer without being too dark and thick.
There's also another beer i really like called Mothership Wit organic wheat beer which is a little lighter with a hint of citrus in it

I like beer just fine but I am too afraid of becoming a Beer Guy to care that much. I have a bottle of beer like once a week or less, and I'm usually trying different kinds so I don't really have a favorite. the exception is oktoberfest when I favor franziskaner weissbier
if I'm just out drinking I prefer yuengling lager or pbr
-
I like Guinness in bars (i tried canned guinness once it was terrible idk if it's really bad but this is my sole level of beer snobbery dont take it from me) and whatever's cheapest for home (usually number one Bass or this Brazilian beer called Brahma which is nice if a little sweet). I haven't found a least favorite but I remember drinking a pint of either heineken or budweiser or carlsberg or some other big lager and it smelt just like dried blood and made me feel gross so I try to steer clear of them in general.
-
Huge fan of Chimay Blue (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/215/2512), but Sam Adams (and PBR if reallly on a budget) is the ace in the hole. Can't stand a lot of american pilsners. Haven't found anything else remarkable, sadly. Grolsch was fun only in name
-
Guinness makes me have asthma. It happened to my friend after we moved to another pub he got his inhaler out and I was like hey can I borrow that.
On May 28th when I am free of learning I am going to get me a nice bunch of Cains Ales. They're made in Liverpool and they're pretty awesome. The Double Bock is pretty strong ~8% but it's pretty fantastic too.
Out of the mainstream football sponsor style beers I think my fave is Peroni though I did go through a Heineken phase.
I shouldn't be posting. Especially about my main weakness!
p.s. Mark that ale looks fiiiiine.
-
ASE you are clearly viewing this topic. Ban me until May 28th you willy chuffer.

yeah love this too. pretty much all Belgian beer is great.
Grolsch was fun only in name
Grolsch and Heineken are only and so. Hertog Jan (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/Hertog_jan.JPG) is the best Dutch beer.
Then again, I'd drink it just because opening up the bottle (http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/2007/09/grolsch.jpg) is fun.
-
I love beer. Most beers I've tried are mexican of course, but I can safely say that dutch, belgian and german beers are incredible. The list is so big, so I'll just put my favorite one here:

what kind of Dutch beers do you like? I've never been too keen on them myself aside from a couple that are good. the rest isn't bad by any standards but they seem boring to me somehow. I prefer German beer for the light stuff and Belgian beer for the stronger and darker. but I don't know, maybe this is because foreign stuff is naturally more interesting to me and I'm not being entirely fair.

The ones I've tried are from the most common brands Amstel, Grolsch and Heineken. I like regular Heinekens. Everyone told me that Amstels where terrible but I liked them a lot. In The Hague I had a chance to try many Grolsch varieties, premium blonde rocks. :D
-
I drink Keystone Light, because I am poor. Keystone Light is freaking pisswater, but I can get 30 of them for 13 bucks so haha screw better beers
-
I'm poor as fuck too, but I just can't drink Keystone or Natty Ice ... I physically have to PUSH myself to finish a single can, let alone 2. I am one of those dudes who goes for the solo cups and pours himself a mixed drink instead of grabbing a can of keystone like every other dude in the room.
-
Yuengling is my beer of choice too pretty much. I like it because its pretty strong but a lighter lager so you can still drink alot of it pretty quick and not come off as a bud light beer pong-aholic
I'll drink pretty much anything though but I don't like to drink too much because its makes me feel bloated and stupid
I don't experiment with different beers anymore, the last time I did it I bought some coffee beer without looking at the label and it tasted like shit and is probably still sitting in my fridge after three months.

I'm drinking this right now and i'm really enjoying it (borat voice)

This. Also Lionshead, its a pilsner, also from PA, and its pretty cheap but still flavorful. I also like PBR and Blue Moon.

Let me know next time you're in the neighborhood, I'll alert the gang and we'll go do some drinkin together :)

Some of my favorite beers:
Leffe Brune (aka Leffe Dubbel)
Paulaner Salvator
Malheur 8/10/12
Rochefort 6/8/10
Hoegaarden

Has anyone tried Tactical Nuclear Penguin (http://brewdog.com/tactical_nuclear_penguin.php) yet? Supposedly the strongest beer in the world brewed by genuine Scotsmen.
Also I prefer Heineken when I'm at home relaxing. At the bar it depends on how adventurous I'm feeling and how much money I have.
-
almost anyone from this area of PA is gonna prefer yuengling lager. lagers lagers lagers lagers get some lagers`. but ihatemalus and friends are from somewhere in FL, the only other place in the country where you can get it!! not that it's a super grade-a beer but it's a good drinking beer
lionshead is alright, more of an american adjunct lager. I generally prefer yuengling but I do like the riddles/drunkenness indicators
-
Dogfish head 90 minute is definitely my favorite beer too!
Coming in at a close, but different, second, and one I haven't been able to get my hands on in a while, is crooked tree ipa by Darkhorse brewery.

I'm also fortunate enough to live right 'round Lagunitas Brewing company, so their ipa is on tap everywhere.

Best served ice cold:

A mate had it and said it was far from worth the price, but it's so expensive I doubt it ever would be.
I'm a bit of a sucker for any trappist ale, mainly because of their strength. Taste delicious and can get you tipsy off a glass. I never end up taking down names (for obvious reasons hyuk) after a while but there's an incredible beer cafe in the city here, menu n shit. I should do a trip report with pictures sometime and report back (any excuse to go there is a good one).
For every day drinking I'm really not too fussed as long as it's not a cold filtered beer. I've actually been drinking a lot more cider than beer as of late (Monteith's cider is so, so good).
-
You guys ever had zubr?
Zubr is some good stuff.
-
I'm usually more of a wine or mixed drinks person, as I'm not fond of the bitterness found in many beers. However, on a trip I remember a very good bottle of HopDevil ale. Wow!
-
leffe dubbel (http://media.beeroverip.org/beers/leffe-brune-2.jpg)
I have that glass, though I usually drink Leffe Blanc.
Also, Innis & Gunn (http://www.innisandgunn.com/) is my favourite.

Why bother with an overpriced and over powered beer like that?
If I want to drink something that strong, I'll drink spirits.
It'll only sell for the novelty factor.
-
i love beer o god its soooooo tasty
-
I had leffe once and i didnt finish it because it wasn't nice.
i know i shouldn't but i find the most drinkable beer for me is carlsberg even though its just chemicals or some shit.
i also like heineken and tuborg and becks. actually tuborg is just the best. like, the best. then becks veir.
-
I have that glass, though I usually drink Leffe Blanc.
That reminds me, I need to get one of those glasses. All I have is a coaster...
-
dada is that a redux face from faceless project?
Also you would not believe how much beer I pour out at work. as the night progresses drunk patrons buy beer and then just leave it.
-
I haven't been experimenting like I used to, but I tried a lager by Abita Saturday, which was quite nice. I'm going to have to find a place that allows you to create your own six pack because microbrews and imports are really expensive at bars, and I'm not willing to buy a whole 6 pack of something I might end up disliking.
On the regular, Yeungling is my tried and true.
-
yeah f yeah bro
also I'm gonna be home for a month this time. so plenty of time to party hardy and you might just get to meet some ex army ranger redneck I work with.
-
Werd. 12 days!
I'm going to have to go back to Four Winds when I get there because I made the best variety 6 pack ever.
-
red dog lager is an excellent balance between price and quality.
otherwise i love yuengling, newcastle, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, orange shock, dom de dieu... i like beer!
-
four winds is that grocery store where they sell sandwiches and shit right? thats cool
-
Yeah, you could drink a new beer every day for years with their collection.
-
(https://legacy.gamingw.net/etc/1300wineonline.com.au/images/barons%20lager.jpeg)
Currently onto my second one of these. Barons is an Australian brewery that has come to the forefront in the past couple of years due to a few of their beers winning a bunch of awards at beer shows. They're generally known as overrated but the lager is really, really easy to drink and has a nice bite to it. It has an almost creamy malted taste and tastes really good after it goes down.
A couple of their beers have been shit but I'm p happy with this one espesh cos I'm not the biggest lager fan.

yep! made by our resident pixel genius konix.
