(will i be able to get a better paying job relative to what id make if i didnt have it?) i have no idea where i should be applying that i couldn't when i didn't have any degree. sorry if thats confusing im kinda high
BASICALLY: i just got my aa where should i be appyling at thx dogs

I dunno, you might be looked upon favorably for like a clerical position or low level government jobs. You're basically in the same boat as someone entering their junior year in college, no major no focus etc so internship opportunities are pretty limited.
So yeah, you're not any better off than had you just worked full time those two years. If your goal is a degree in international studies then I think you should start volunteering as much as you can. Get involved with something relating to helping/providing resources to immigrants and refugees.
If you got bills to pay, I dunno what to tell you... go talk to the people at the career/job services dept at the school you graduated from, they might get you in with a temp agency or something.
-
wow please dont smoke crack before making a topic
-
Stop getting high if you are job hunting. Getting a job offer retracted due to pissing dirty on a UA is horrible.
-
I am sort of in a similar boat. I am using my college marks to help me get into university though (my high school marks were absolutely terrible). In terms of jobs... hmm. It might help put you ahead of other applicants for any sort of general job, but in terms of specifics you're pretty limited unless you have some other employable skills.
-
come to the netherlands you can build html forms for me (as an unpaid intern though)

i have been getting by with awful paying jobs/no hours because i get social security money every month as long as i'm in school full time and under 24 (rip dad..). unfortunately when i transfer i am gonna have to get an apartment so i was hoping to actually be able to find something better than HIGH SCHOOL ENTRY LEVEL jobs. i knew AA's were virtually worthless but...theyve gotta be good for something :'(

You could start selling weed, I imagine that shouldn't be too hard to do on a college campus. I lived with a dude who waited tables and did that, he constantly had wads of cash all the time.
-
hahaha man how do you start selling weed in a totally new city? like i don't really know anyone who lives there except my girlfriend.
-
Does your girlfriend smoke a lot of weed?
-
hahaha no she is not able to at the moment but if she wasn't being randomly drug tested yes.
-
Meet people at school and find out if they smoke. If you can get ahold of some weight like a couple ounces then you can break it down to dubs and eighths and you can get rid of it all in in like a day or two. You can make about of 100 bucks per oz if you're buying at 250 and selling eighths for 40-45
-
all you really need to do is find a couple of people that you know will smoke and keep buying from you and from there you'll prolly end up selling to their friends and shit.
who the fuck buys an eighth at 40$
that is insane

FUN FACT
some kids that went to my school are from the east coast and are driving back for the summer. a couple bought like one or two ounces and are driving them back to boston area... you can buy 10 dollar grams in denver, drive to boston, and sell them for about 25$ a gram, or about 85$ for an eighth. that is over doubling your profit! and apparently it will sell like hot cakes if it is true chronic.
east coast weed is whack. back on on topic HA

its cool how you guys think getting an education matters anymore. not in this economy !

Higher education and postgraduate study is literally your only hope in this and the near future's economy
-
yeah what the fuck are you talking about? a BA degree is definitely still a worthy investment. only certain postgrad degrees are worthwhile though some are a waste at least if we are talking in terms of salary.
never really a waste in terms of education though

well an eighth is roughly three and a half grams, and if you're working with decent product then that's pretty normal considering people are buying the same strains out of dispensaries* for more like 50 an eighth
*in the civilized world

unless you move to a BRIC country.

actually I do see myself going back to school at some point. or let's put it this way: I don't think I'll be a programmer all my life. I somehow just don't think I have the tenacity for that. I'm interested in too many other things.
any of you guys drop out of college and later decided to revert that decision?
-
I don't agree
I've never gone to college and I don't think that I will in the near future and I'm doing really good for someone my age and when I get my license I'll be doing even better. I'll be making as much as someone with a degree in the same field with no starting college debt.
In other words I be makin money to get time to take classes to be makin' even more money. Gonna retire when I hit fourty if it goes good.

Please explain that dada, I'm in a bric country

ironically i got hired yesterday as a delivery driver at dominoes. glad my newfound college degree is really elevating me to higherp laces. on the otherhand sellin weed would be ez as a delivery driver 8-)

not being able to get a job as a delivery driver is the only reason i ever wish I could drive. it would be good. you'd be on your own most of the time and you could listen to music, audiobooks, anything audio at all since it's your car.
i just got a job today flipping burgers. it's a stinker, but i am desperate for cash and it's only a temporary thing for a month with an option of two so i think i can hold out! i really don't like working alongside people, though. like i sometimes try to look at it in a positive way like maybe i'll meet my new best buddy in this unlikely place? but things don't work out like that. it sucks having people say horrible things, act like assholes or just kind of plain old not really get along with you cos you are such different people. pffrrrrrr...it'll be cool to be a student again in september.
-
yeah thats what I did for awhile at hungry howies and it was kind of fun I guess.
the pay sucked and my boss was a cunt and everything else about it was miserable but I stayed stoned most of the time and got to listen to some rad tunes while I drove around and just chilled most the time. Make sure you get a gps if you can get the extra cash, its really helpful and can help you get those deliveries in fast.
And yeah if you deliver quick and pick some orders close to where you deal you could charge a little extra and drop your product off while you're workin'. My last weed dude did it while he delivered and was pretty successful about it.

which country do you live in?
what I meant was that it's interesting how bric countries are set to undergo radical transitions in the coming decades that will impact western countries. the main reason why they're currently experiencing so much economic growth is because it's easier to exploit (mostly poor and unskilled) laborers there, but at the same time more and more people are gaining access to educational facilities. then there's the fact that cultural barriers, such as women joining the workforce, will make a big difference in the long run if they can be overcome.
right now it's mostly unskilled labor that's being exported to these countries, but that will change as they become more developed. which isn't good for westerners, since it means the level of education you need to have to be able to easily find work will rise.

ps given that this is a dietcoke help topic, maybe he can answer this question for me.
what on earth is going on in thailand right now? I'm getting conflicting information about the government crackdown on the red shirt movement. you've probably seen the debate on today's Democracy Now, and it's interesting how Philip Cunningham notes that the media that's being propagated by the movement seems to resemble fake grassroots while on the other hand people are fighting against an undemocratic election and are being shot in the streets. while both he and Ungpakorn agreed that the government has to immediately stop their use of violence, I'm in doubt as to what I should believe (though Cunningham's claim is one that's very hard for someone like me to verify, especially because I'm not familiar with the usual level of rhetoric in thailand).
the reason why I went and wrote this is because I just saw the most horrifying video (not going to link to it) of a red shirt getting shot by a sniper. it's absolutely crazy and it's difficult for me to get a grip on this.
the use of fake grassroots for a power struggle is not an impossible scenario by far, especially in a politically unstable country such as thailand, but it seems so absurd to me that such a large number of people are dying in the street for this.

it's basically an intra-bourgeoisie conflict over breaking up the coup-government and forming a regular liberal democratic government. I think Cunningham is really overdoing it with calling the red shirt movement fascist, that just strikes me as a pretty dishonest and lazy assessment. It's a genuine populist movement that is fighting for legitimate elections, however misguided in their support for some billionaire politician.

I don't want dietcoke to talk about proletariat and armchair feminism
I'm currently studying architecture but for the most part of the day I'm an internet shut in (my classes take place during the night). I think I could architect things mechanically which is why I decided to study it but I don't like it how everyone else is idealistic and reads a lot of books on the subject and I don't really care about it. I don't care about le corbusier. I think people who spot the golden ratio in things are obsessive compulsive. I'll probably end up like my dad in a job I don't really like just for the money. I'm constantly apathetic and I never go to the parties people invite me to (I wish I could have fun doing that but it's too much of a chore).
I wish I could make movies, I envy you (jamie) and psyburn for that (but psyburn only cares about buying camera accessories so I don't envy him that much). I wish I could make decent music. I wish I could make proper games and get rich doing that. I wish I could make a proper comic book. I wish I had someone who liked me romantically.
I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just keep staying home all day long doing nothing but browsing the internet. I think I'll just end up dying before doing anything I actually want to do. But there is still hope.....

Lol did I hit a nerve or something

I thought you were married dietcoke
I feel pretty much the exact same way. There are some things that I want to do, that I know I'm more than capable of doing but I don't have the time to learn and act and when I finally get time I'm too fucking tired to do anything. I'm hoping I can change that but I don't know.
I am also a shut in most of the time but thats mostly because I fucking hate the people that live near me and certain kinds of people in general and if I do run into someone I like and would like to hang with they either live nowhere near me or have left.
-
I wrote that post by the way
-
I guess hate is a strong word but mostly I find that the folks left in my area are degenerates that make me sick to my fucking stomach.
the epitamy of the hedonistic and impulsive behavior you'd find commonplace in a goddamn dog. I mean fuck I thought I had a problem controlling myself at times but apparently not, maybe I'm just too closeted being cast out to sea all of the time but sometimes I feel like a fucking protestant when I go to a party at home.
-
Is that a copy pasted post?
Speaking of dogs and impulsiveness read about moscow metro dogs, I think the first time I heard of them was when lars travelled to russia and it's pretty amazing the way they invent their own societies

I was thinking about this last night and figured it was probably the other way around as what Cunningham was saying. That it isn't Shinawatra who engineered it from the beginning, but that he's simply riding the wave and trying to consolidate some of his support. What's going on there right now is pretty horrible and I somehow don't think the red shirts are going to get their way anytime soon.
