Has anyone else heard of this fine Diablo clone? (Made by the same people, in fact!) You can buy it on Steam for a mere $20 last time I checked.
For those that have it: I've been having a problem recently: The monsters in the Shadow Vault are normally supposed to be around the same level as your character, but in my game they are only going up level per floor, as in the main dungeon. I've asked about this problem on several other forums and no one has given me a solution to this.

it's fucking dumb
-
Just what is fucking dumb?
I mean, besides yourself, of course.
-
torchlight is a fucking stupid game
-
your f**ucking dumb.
everything is dumb.
EVERYTHING IS STUPID AND I HATE IT ALL.
-
And what does this have to do with Torchlight? Or would you rather post insults not directed at anyone in particular that will just get modded?
-
I really want to post on here about Torchlight but I'm not sure how to. Can anybody help me? Where can I upload my posts?

So what's your favorite class? Destroyer, Alchemist, or Vanquisher? I've played through the game once with each of them. I think I may like the Vanquisher for the effectiveness of Explosive Shot.

isn't torchlight some series on WB
-
Don't worry about everyone else, they are just playing around.
Anyway, I only played through the game as an Alchemist (twice), first time using mainly destruction spells (and focusing on the lightning bolt spell, which was insane at higher levels).
The second playthrough I went an all minion build, and the first 10 to 20 levels were pretty tough, but once I had 5 imps, both golems, my pet, and then three spells that could summon, plus a heal all spell, I was basically invincible.
Also, I don't know if that is a glitch or not with the shadow vault. I believe you have to beat the last boss for the floors to take into account your actual level. It has been awhile (6 months), so I can't remember all that clearly though, I could be completely wrong.

Maybe? Are you thinking of torchwood? But that's a british show, so maybe not.

Don't listen to this! By not working this game is saving you from the misery and boredom that is torchlight.

looks like WoW
as in "WOW this game looks AMAZING!!"
-
When I played through as an Alchemist I specialized in minions and Ember Lance, a spell which was quite effective for both single targets and large swarms. However, keeping track of your pet, two golems, and six imps was a pain, and I struggled to beat the final boss with this kind of setup, dying about a dozen times before he finally went down.
I'd like to play more games like this one. The only one I've played that was similar to this was Alien Syndrome on the Wii and PSP.

I would like to send my regards to The Penguin for not being a complete and utter fuckwit when I'm trying to carry on a meaningful conversation.

I just started playing... ever try to do vary hard mode with hardcore mode activated my god it's hard... and mind you starting with nothing.
Better yet try doing this with these rules. http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12587

I'm glad someone else has some sense too.
I should try that eventually. And I'll probably be done with Torchlight if I ever do complete that challenge.
-
Also on another note they are making an MMO out of this.

If you like Diablo clones, then Diablo 3 is coming out in the next year or so, and the Dungeon Siege series (albeit a bit old) are also pretty good.
Roman, the meaning of Torchlife... begins with discussion of the metaphysical world that we live in. You see, by guiding our spirits to the edge of reality, we can find our special "torch" and begin anew with a new life. I feel like we all have a special connection to one another that will never be dissipated unless the world comes crashing upon itself.

If you like grinding, here's some more grind to grind until the next grind comes out for you to grind with.
-
They're not about grinding, they're about finding the best random loot and killing lots of monsters in real-time with your mad skills!
-
which is pretty much the exact definition of grinding

clicking is a skill now?

apparently it is

seriously though dada that vid makes me want to watch those crazy starcraft tournaments is there some website that streams them or something??? tell me about this shit i want to see it now. when do they do these and where do i watch them
-
Torchlight isn't very grind-heavy, especially compared to most MMOs. I can gain one or two levels easily by clearing out a single floor. You would know this if you actually played the game.
Of course, EVERY RPG ever made by definition has level grinding.

no they don't :|
in fact a good rpg shouldn't have level grinding at all, that's why there are so few good rpgs :fogetlaugh:

most of that stuff is on youtube. a couple of my friends are pretty competitive about starcraft so i've seen a couple tournament rounds and the korean announcers are even crazier than like spanish futbol announcers.

i have about a level 20-some character in torchlight and every second i was playing that game i was grinding for loot. the story is essentially nonexistent.
edit: also torchlight isn't an mmo its a diablo clone

i really wanna know if there's a place that streams this stuff live though. if i can't be bothered to watch world cup matches that i missed, i certainly am not gonna go back and watch starcraft matches.

There making an MMO and useing the concept of Torchlight hence Torchlight MMORPG.
what's the difference
Agreed there almost the same they both take starcraft to the next Level.
-
The story in Torchlight is "almost nonexistant" because no one bothers to read the story in Diablo and Diablo-esque games in the first place, so why should they even bother?

Their APM isn't exactly impressive when all they're doing is selecting units over and over again or clicking the same location 20 different times in slightly different places.

I think they linked building to numbers and they where building really fast with vary little effort witch was impressive.

that's exactly what they're doing. and in higher level comptetitive games it would almost require the player to be omnipotent and be present everywhere wherever any of his units are on the map - every second. that's hardcore micromanagement.
