Demikids, it's a Shin Megami Tensei game. It was pretty cool imho but I think I got to a point where I had no clue how to continue. I think that was because I didn't pay attention to the cutscenes though.
It's for the GBA, and it comes in a like LIGHT and DARK version so it's just like pokemon

Why do people call it the GCN? What's the N stand for in this context?

nintendo

that's the official western abbreviation for reasons nobody understands.  in japan it's the ngc.  but yeah it's officially the gcn here.

also if you're into breeding games, you might see if any local arcades (truck stops??? i've heard of this before but never actually seen it) have derby owner's club.

DQ Monsters: Joker is the only dragon quest game I've ever heard of that plays like that. It came out way before Monster Rancher DS, but for some reason it is really hard for me to come across a copy in any sort of store. I certainly want to get it if I could find it, but not badly enough to actually order it off the internet.

Trackmania is also on the DS now. I'm sure you already know about trackmania since you are asking about customizable racing games.

wait, what do either of these two things have to do with each other?

Is this really the time to argue semantics? I'm just mad about not being able to find it, and that's probably why I put it that way.

I think you can forgive me for not being 100% logical in how I decide to phrase my sentences, but you really don't have to if you don't want to.

i don't know what you're getting so dang defensive about it just sounded like you were saying that you couldn't find the game you wanted because of monster rancher ds, which makes zero sense whatsoever and i wanted to know why you thought the two were related.  i wasn't trying to pick on SENTENCE STRUCTURE i thought you were making a point about one affecting the other and i wanted to know how.

monster rancher is pretty fantastic.  the gba ones are pretty close to the original psx ones, moreso than the ps2 ones really.  i played a few minutes of one of the ps2 ones and it was pretty bad.  so yeah, either play the gba ones or the psx ones (monster rancher 2 for the psx is my favorite).

i played a few minutes of a monster rancher ds rom in korean (for some reason this was easier to find than japanese??? weird).  you generate monsters in a couple different ways but the one i remember the most is you can draw something and it'll use that to determine what you get, p. cool.  i mostly just spent my time generating monsters then i quit playing it since i couldn't read anything, so can't really comment on anything besides that.

Ah right, well I was being over the top too defensive about it. I should have just explained what I was thinking like I originally planned. I reckon the connection was just in my mind in the sense that if I actually did see a copy Monster Rancher DS in a store, I wouldn't want to buy it. And then be reminded about the fact that I still can't find a copy Dragon Quest Monsters anywhere. I should hold that against the store, but in truth I'd probably hold it against the Monster Ranchers series itself because I am not the sort that ever got into playing Monster Rancher games.

Although the truth is that I haven't seen either title in a store as of yet, so the connection I was intending to make wasn't really there. I was reluctant to explain it because my explanation makes even less sense than what I originally said.

I...don't even see why you would blame monster rancher for this at all.  I would blame Pokemon if anything (but really all you can blame is POOR SALES let's be honest), Monster Rancher has sort of become slightly OBSCURE over time it's hardly responsible for anything like that.

So really I don't get it, you're just mad at Monster Rancher for no real reason?

That's why I didn't want to explain it.

I'm done explaining things. (at least in this instance)
