The Adventures of Ricky Vanhorn

This game is a telling of actual happening and events in the life of real life person Richard Vanhorn.

Prologue

It is the year 1987 in the glorious town of Rocklin, the town of which the greatest kings are born. A crimson howl cascades the night as mystifying rain suffocates the air. "HES COMING!!", yells a voice as cracks of lightning overplay the sound of blood doping to the floor. "PUSH DAMN YOU! PUSH!!", yells a man in a white and blue outfit uniform with a twinkle of cheer in his eye that he hasn't felt since he was twelve and his neighbor invited him over for tea and lollipops in his basement. A long silence fills the room, just as a fear enters the man's soul of what may have been desecrated this day the room awakes with a loud cry of a child blossoming of golden incandescence and onyx sunglasses. The man grips the child upon his bosom and yells to the heavens. "This child is not born of man, but of the gods"

How do I interact with objects?
I've tried pressing every key, but I can't even make Ricky go to bed, which I assume is what he's supposed to do.

You should list what all the controls are in some readme file.

A lot of the text is misaligned, so words get split with the 1st part at the end of one line & the 2nd part at the start of the next line.
And occasionally, the 2nd part of a word/sentence that's been split isn't shown at all.

Turn down the volume of the background music & turn up the volume of the voice acting. Right now, the music is too loud & the voice is too quiet. Balance them out better.

You should mark where entrances/exits are (like how they were marked in FF7) to make it easy to see/find them.

Also, if you can disable the Windows key, then please do it as pressing it causes the game to stop functioning properly.

Oh, and I had to run the game with MicroSoft's AppLocale program to get it to work properly on my WinXP machine.

AppLocale is for Win2003 & XP only, so Vista & Win7 users will have to use some other method to set their comps to be compatible with Japanese programs:

There is no interaction key, everything is interacted with by touching or walking over it, in your case walking on the right side of the bed should get you where you need to go

This is due to the game creation process called "winging it" while most of it has been fixed in later dialogs the others could not without having to completely redo scenes from scratch also some things are said in voice but are not in the captions so take that into play as well

You may want to check your sound settings to see if your "synth" setting is higher than your "wave" setting because all vocals were boosted from their originals due to this issue.

Im not sure why you need AppLocale to get it to work, it runs fine and dandy on my xp machine.

I had my wav & synth levels evenly set, but I'll try changing them until I get the right balance.

I pressed the Windows key so that I could click on the sound icon to increase the volume and when I tried to resume the game I couldn't.

What I meant is that you should add a blinking arrow over every exit/entrance to mark it so that it's easy to spot.

And I got it to work without AppLocale, but the first time I tried it I got an error about D3D & some gibberish which I assume are supposed to be Japanese characters.

That has to do with direct 3d seeing this engine uses direct x 7 it causes legacy issues when running with direct X 10 or 11 and such thus needing to run it in compatibility mode in vista or 7

Also when you alt tab or the window is minimized sometimes it will crash the game but most of the time it will just take a min or 2 for the game to redraw back on the screen when activating again.
