so pretty much all i do is work and go to school. almost all of my money goes towards car insurance, gas or is being saved for next semesters tuition. i have a little lee way and sometimes i'll buy a handle or an eighth of weed or something, but generally i don't get to spend money on myself, but i have about $50 in change that i figured i might as well just blow on something fun, so the question is: what can you get for $50 bucks that is worth buying. or even if it costs more. basically what i'm trying to do here is ask you guys about cool things that are actually worth buying. i almost never buy anything besides drugs, food, gas and books, and most shit available for purchase seems pretty terrible, but i feel like there has to be cool worthwhile products out there somewhere, so i figured i'd see if any one had any recommendations.

well, you can get movies, tv and music for free, you can get most games for free. you can get books for free but it kind of stinks so i buy books when i'm getting them. the only things i spend money on are pretty big things, since i cut out alot of daily entertainment expenses. if i had 50 dollars realistically i would spend it on getting drunk and maybe going to the movies or just let it drain away buying snacks when i am out, but if i had a reason i'd probably just leave it there as best i could and buy a flight somewhere when i got a bit more money. or if i was in need of some kind of investment thing, like a musical instrument or something, then i'd put it towards that.
i think the assumption that there has to be some cool products out there is a bogus one. most things are a total waste of money. i try not to get hung up on it but i still get angry sometimes at how much i am paying for everything. yeah. don't spend that money right now. just keep it and keep it for something cool. seeking out something to spend money on is probably a stupid thing to do.
-
wow, that is actually a really cool idea, mince. have you tried it? do you know if the whole organization is actually legit? i mean they have to make money somewhere, im just wondering what the catch is? i'm probably gonna look into this more, but i was just wondering if you had any insights before i go wading through a bunch of internet search results.
also, jamie, i agree with everything you said. and I thought about saving my money for a new laptop. i just get so annoyed with the monotony of constantly saving every penny i earn, but at the same time i hate the wasteful bullshit consumerism that drives the united states (where i live). but i dont think the idea that someone somewhere is creating something worth my money is a naive one. there has to be a decent company somewhere creating a quality product.

So wait you send money to these guys and they repay it with interest if they don't die or be fucking losers and run off with it.
-
They repay it without interest

They repay it without interest
Sort of thinking about it. i got 1000$ to burn in my bank and why not gamble it all on people that I don't know and I have to pick out by looks, testimonies and facial expressions sounds like awesome way for me to do it but I might just wait for a bit maybe around December.
Like this profile http://www.kiva.org/lend/234599 I would give her the money because she seems to be on the level and hell she is not asking for much.

Kiva isn't as nice as it seems. Sure YOU don't get the interest, but the person borrowing the money is taking a loan out from a financial institution that collects the interest. You're basically securing someone's high-interest loan, not directly loaning it.
If you want to really do something nice with the money donate it to a good charity like doctors without borders or local charities in whatever country you care about. People in Pakistan need some help, look into that.

50 tacos for $50
-
buy 50 bucks worth of books
-
I thought marketing teams creating needs for consumers that they could then fill with their products was kinda backwards, but this is getting really absurd.
-
drugs buy drugs drugs are always worth it spend all your money on drugs
-
don't buy anything.
seriously if you have to ask us what to spend your money on then there's nothing you're interested in having right now. save it up until you have enough for something you want and also ACTUALLY want something
-
yeah dude just save it up! you never know when you might see something you actually really want (or need!) and having a bit of extra cash on hand in case of emergencies is always a good thing.
-
What Vellfire and Ryan said. Or spend it on some personal luxury like eat in a good restaurant a couple of times or go to a massage.
-
$50 won't buy you a couple of meals in a good restaurant or a massage. maybe you could use it to buy back your soul
-
Take a minute to consider which sites/things/blogs/programs you use that you can donate to but haven't. Actually I want to donate to Democracy Now but I can't since its Paypal button is broken and I don't want to use my credit card.
-
if you're in school you should just save it, especially if you dont know what you want to spend it on. Personally id have it for going out money.

Would say quality food and books but those things are on your list. That's really most of what I buy nowadays.
