North Korea attacked South Korea, now they've declared total war on each other. Say bye to everyone you know.
-
just what has happened?
-
from what i read so far north korea attacked an island on a disputed border. i didn't see any news articles mentioning an official declaration of war though!

South korea said they were going to retaliate , WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL COME OF THAT?
-
they're not shooting anymore
south korea was doing some exercises that the north threatened them not to do.... but since the north always makes threats like that the south did the exercise anyway and got shot at
-
South korea said they were going to retaliate , WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL COME OF THAT?
yeah but that's not the same as WAR, comprehendo?

some say its already going on ...in ME....u cant call its wrong because 50 nations are involved in that WAR theatre.........whatever i think ME is the stage for WW3...but u will find some battles here n there...like KOREAS....India-PAK...u dont want to miss that ...dont u......plenty of people and NUKES

goddammit can't you just let mince have his ww3 fantasy

You mean to tell me that North Korea had the audacity to attack South Korean territory? Just wait til the battle-hardened Starcraft tacticians enter into the fray; they're going to overwhelm the North Koreans with their Zerg rushes and carefully employed war strategies.

Dietcoke your adult and well informed comments piss me off

This is nothing new

Can't we just pretend we're doomed for a day?
-

Can't we just pretend we're doomed for a day?
Everyday I exist there will always will be that day.

Meh, North Korea. They are just a crazy poverty stricken country With a couple of cobbled together nukes they only MIGHT be insane enough to use and if they do they would likely get wiped off the map.
China on the other hand... China basically has us(U.S.) by the balls economically... if country's economies had balls...
Unless I'm mistaken. My opinion admittedly is pieced together from bits from internet news.

Tsh. Go tell the media, dude, not us. They're the ones who keep nuancing everything to death. :fogetbackflip:

If it's not hurting our economy or national security, it's not considered war. Don't you people get it yet?
-
NK has been ogling that spot for years. It's funny, because before (and after) they allegedly fired torpedoes at an SK warship awhile ago, they were opting for peace talks with SK. I guess it just goes to show you that NK really isn't to be trusted, and it's important to be wary of them now that they've created around 2000 Low-Enrichment-Centrifuges (typically used for enriching nuclear material for civilian use), which can easily be converted to create nukes.
Anyway, I don't think this is a WWI scenario, where this explodes into an ally-axis frenzy. China is economically partnered with SK, and is a fly swatter looming over NK imo; they're largely on our side on this issue. The only real danger point is Iran, which provides NK with nuclear material iirc. I'm looking on aljazeera.com (excellent news source for the middle eastern world if you're not into the usual cnn and bbc stuff) to see what Iran might do. Now...if for some God-awful reason, China invades Taiwan...nah, they wouldn't do that. They haven't gotten off their export dependency on us (it's interesting to note that they're trying to, btw...)

World war 3 will kick off when someone assassinates that band Franz Ferdinand.

NK has the largest army in the world or something
-
Still smaller than China's.
But yeah, NK army is fairly big. Joining the military there is compulsory, so all their citizens are pretty much soldiers.
-
I can't imagine they are very well equipped or taken care of.
-
Sorry Warpped, but they are actually pretty Well equipped. Plus they gots Nukes in their pocket..
I dunno about you but I think a Nuke in your court, that's pretty Well Equipped in my books..
-

Not much is known about how much they spend on their military. We DO know how much their economy sucks, so it's likely that they wouldn't be able to sustain their massive military for very long (kinda like Russia in WWII..) Still, that doesn't mean that they *can't* afford it. Did you know they boast a literacy rate of 99 percent (according to the CIA world factbook[1])? There's a lot of brainpower there, misled as it is. I bet they can erect a fairly strong military industrial complex if provoked to.
You know what NK reminds me of? Krikkit, from Hitch Hiker's Guide.

North Korea is Best Korea. Say hello to your new overlord Jim Kong.

i really like how most of the results for KOREA on google news are about the economic impact of these events rather than the events themselves. nobody really cares about korea anyway(bad football players; too short to defend goals) so the big question is ARE THE NUMBERS GOING DOWN?!?!?
i am glad the english-speaking world has their priorities in order
must find companies that specialize in CONCENTRATION CAMP supplies and invest all my money in them. i will be worth millions!!!!

i noticed this too, i was trying to find out what happened since this topic didn't give details and all i kept seeing was financial stuff and headlines about how various countries did not approve of north korea. took me a bit too long to actually find one that said "oh btw this happened"
-
Finaly I get to kill som Koreans :fogetangry:
-
Get out.
-
team america is commin true.,..
-
I'm in South Korea right now, and war has not been declared, I can assure you.
This isn't the first time North Korea has done something to piss off SK and USA since the armistice. This kind of crap has happened several times before.
-
Dude you're in SK now? That's cool.
Quick question. Is it true that they're ultra-conservative (other than subsidizing LG, Sanyo, and those two other companies).

Um, like the US, there are various beliefs in Korea. Not everyone is one thing or another. I haven't really had much time to spend with Koreans, since I've been working on helicopters, as well as drinking my ass off every night.
But from what I have seen, Koreans are much more friendly toward Americans than people in other countries. I don't feel like I'm going to get mugged/raped when I walk down a dark street alone.
Also they are really, really, really, really into Starcraft. There are ads for the game everywhere. Korean Starcraft love is not a stereotype.
And you can get squid or shrimp at any restaurant ever.

are you talking socially or politically conservative? Socially, yes Koreans are a bit conservative, you basically have to talk to anyone older than you in a completely different (more respectful)way. It's also not considered normal or OK to be openly homosexual in Korea. Politically, you kinda have to understand that the term "conservative" means different things in different places and lol if you think corporate subsidies somehow fall outside of the realm of being "conservative".

Yeah, the respect for elders is HUGE here. For a while, KATUSAs (Korean soldiers working for the US Army) kept bowing to me whenever I walked by. I thought they were respecting me because I'm a specialist (which didn't make any sense), but it turned out they were doing it because I'm older than them. I'm not really around KATUSAs anymore, but when I am, they give me a lot of respect.
