Blacked out my keycaps on my old Dell to prepare for my blank keyboard I just ordered. It takes a bit of getting use to. I'll post some pictures of my other computers later.

I have that M-Audio Axiom on my desk at home. I don't really have a boastable living area giving all my stuff is split between two houses.

I want one of those keyboards from http://pckeyboard.com/ (http://pckeyboard.com/). Probably the Customizer 104/105 (I need that extra key in between Ctrl and Alt since I use a Mac). Unfortunately that one doesn't come in white. What sort of keys does the Das Keyboard use? I see here it says "clicky tactile", is that the same as buckling spring?
edit: just went to youtube to check and it doesn't sound like one anyway.

Das Keyboard uses Cherry MX Blues. They are tactile and clicky like buckling springs but they definitely do not feel the same. Buckling springs are still the switch of choice for many typers because they click exactly when they actuate and after the tactile bump, they become more firm but don't bottom out, but the actuation force is about 40% less on the blues.
Someone on Overclock published a pretty in depth guide a while back on keyboard switches if you are interested.

Holy shit, you have Monitor Audio speakers. I have the full size versions of those for my stereo, the RX8s.

-
Awesome dude. The RXs are awesome, even the shelf speakers pack a lot in them and produce wonderful bass. I also listened to RX8s sometime ago in a store and they sounded amazing, good choice!

I was thinking of the 2.000.000 key terminal emulator...
But I think I'll get the black Customizer 104 and then remove all buttons and spray paint them black :)

That team rocket wallpaper is awesome.

here's a link (http://secxtanx.com/dump/trwall.jpg). the art in the center is from someone on deviantart but it was originally on a really awful greenish background (like deviantart's theme but they put the color in themselves) so i edited it to make it a better wallpaper
edit: this was the original http://aadmm.deviantart.com/art/Team-Rocket-s-Motto-172552633?q=favby%3Aadn25%2F40386702&qo=15 i love this idea

The only thing I don't like about my computer:
This fucker lights up my entire room. I have to put things on top of it to sleep at night.

I can tell you how to stop that from lighting up if you want, ask me on IRC if you want me to walk you through it.
-
1. Turn off plug at wall.
-
there's likely a plug on the motherboard labeled PWR LED, unhook it. It's probably better to just not leave your desktop running all night though.

My Desktop is left on 99% the time. I got no qualms with doing so.. Post a pic soon. I got a few Desktop Pals I can show you to!
-
do you at least make it go into hibernate/sleep? Seems like a silly waste of electricity IMO
-
i don't download as much shit as i used to but i used to always keep my computer on because i'd be torrenting things and my internet was shit rural kentucky internet so it took quite a while.
but mine does go to sleep nowadays so i guess it doesn't matter really
-
most people who leave their computers on 24/7 have no good reason to and just want to play at sysadminz
-
i leave my pc on 24/7 and the only reason is that i'm lazy.
anyway

Smooooooth
-
To answer some of the previous questions, I leave my PC on overnight for torrenting. There is a bandwidth limit on torrent transfers during the day that gets lifted at 2:00am-7:00am, so I leave my PC on for prime downloading time!
-
I also tend to leave my laptop on for torrenting purposes, but also sometimes its just because i am too damn lazy to close it when I go to bed. Also sometimes I leave it on to play through a short playlist of music to help me fall asleep. it doesn't really follow a pattern, more just dependant on what exactly I feel like doing before I go to bed.

I'm surprised none of you suckers got dual screens.
-
I do. Just not here, too much to transport at the end of term.

Dual screens are for the poor. Us elite use dual computers. 8-)

why would you be surprised about something like that? I don't think I've ever looked at someone's desk and been like "damn dogg, why you rollin' all single-screened?"

Because surely at least one of these nerds wants to play WoW on one screen while reading WoW forums on the other -.- (is WoW even the go-to game nowadays??? Should I be making fun of like League of Legends or something more???)
I would probably have dual screens by now if I didn't have a laptop. With both on the same desk I don't really have a reason for dual screens.

ugh
-
Fuck that's messy.
-
You know what they say, a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind. :P
-
I like how the mess is entirely paper, at least its a fairly productive (I assume) mess.
-
OK people, show's over. Run along now . . .

the lopsided corkboard really makes it for me

I think he means the Mac Mini. And yes it does look like a biscuit tin.

Don't joke he hid this in the corner so he can keep porn up 24/7 without anyone knowing.

Don't spill your drink on that graphics tablet now. That's an accident waiting to happen.
This has been a Salt World Saftey Bureau message brought to you by the Ministry of Water Damage.
-
Truth be told I spilled a beer all over it about a year back. But I was quick with a towel so it still works :D

Of course :D It's also the only place my computer can actually go in the house.

As someone who currently has 4 computers set up on 3 desks in a 35 sq.m house, I call bs on that.

Well yeah. What I said most certainly was an exaggeration. It's the only place it can go without pissing the rest of my family members off while I'm living at home for the next three months.

Ah yes, that's a consideration too.

I would be more pissed about the cable running across the hallway!

That's actually the vacuum cleaner cable, someone must have left it there. All of my computer cables and jacks are in the alcove.
-
if you've got 35 square miles of housing i think you've got a little room to spare
-
I really need to get a graphics tablet, i'ts hard to sculpt with a mouse, doable but hard.
-
Yes, I am kinda necroposting, but who cares :/
I kind of gave up on using a laptop and got a small (ish) tower.
Intel core i5 2.8Ghz quad core (up from a 1.66Ghz Core 2 Duo).
6GiB DDR3 RAM (up from 2GiB DDR2 RAM).
1TiB HDD (up from 250GiB).
More card readers than I'll ever use ._.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (I used to use Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit).
Nvidia GeForce GT 420 1GiB (up from a GeForce FX something mobile chip with 128MiB of dedicated and 128MiB of shared RAM).. Not brilliant, I know, but I'll upgrade it I start playing newer PC games.
It would have the same problem as HybridZero's, as although the light on the button is smaller, it has a glowing logo on the front and nice looking glowing lines that fade off towards the back and bottom of the case, but thankfully, they thought of putting a button on the top to turn the lighting off.
I keep my camera and iPhone (3G :[ ) ][/ )]http://i55.tinypic.com/ng6glz.jpg[/img]
The 32in widescreen HDTV I'm using as a monitor at the moment.
Also home to my Wii, 360S and a crappy Sony P90 or whatever that I use as an alarm clock because it's horrible resistive screen hardly works, meaning that by the time I get it to shut up, I'm usually wide awake.
Just out of shot is my old 360, which sadly died not long after the 360S came out, but which was always on it's last legs (fixed 3 times).
