Hey everyone, I know I'm late to the party and all that but I think I'm gonna get a PS3 here when I get my tax refund. We have a 360 in the house, so its kinda nice to round out the collection and open both libraries. The one and only reason I'm really getting a PS3 is for The Last Guardian, and they are also re-releasing Ico and Shadow for the PS3 as well. As stupid as it may sound those 3 games are honestly worth the ps3 to me. Basically my point is that I'm definitely getting a ps3, probably in a week or less.
So, I haven't really been in the loop as far as ps3 games though, so I was wondering if you have a few suggestions for really breakthrough, shining games on the ps3. I have Uncharted 2 on my list of "definitely". I think i'm also going to pick up FFXIII because I like the style, and I really enjoyed XII so I'm just hoping there's a good big-boy story and great voice acting again. If you've play 13 and there is a shitty story and/or crappy voice acting I might skip it, but I can get it for like 20 bucks so, it's reasonable.
I was also thinking of getting the Prince of Persia game, not the Forgotten Sands crapfest but the other one. Any reasons why I totally shouldn't?
Any other recommendations for great games that I haven't heard about?

i'm probably going to get a ps3 soon too! MGS4 will be a definite purchase and i might check out modnation racers but other than that i am looking for game recommendations too.

LittleBigPlanet was lots of fun. I don't have a PS3 myself, but I really enjoyed playing LBP with a buddy at his house. I've yet to try out LBP2 yet, but I hear it's even better. Those are two places to start!

oh, MGS4 duh that's a good one too. I just bought MG 1, 2 and 3 for like 25 bucks. And geodude make sure Uncharted 2 is on your list, it's reportedly one of the best and most fun single player and multiplayer games.
LBP looks cool, and modnation racers is made by the same people I think? They both are probably on my "secondary" list of games I'll get after a while.

Grab Heavy Rain for sure. Also if you don't have it for the 360 (or PC???) grab Fallout: New Vegas.

FFXIII is like a nose diving piece of shit that is going to hit you in the head and kill you... I will recommend Ratchet and Clank Future A Crack in Time, Valkyria Chronicles... Don't waste your time with LBP because LBP2 is like a more improved version of the game so pick up number 2.

Oh yeah I heard good things about Ratchet and Clank, always love a good platformer. Is that the same company that made Jak and Daxter? Those were awesome.
I've seen Fallout 3 and New Vegas and, well I like Fallout in theory but I do not think I would enjoy the game. I've seen it played for hours on end, and that was about all I could stand. Good suggestion but personally I don't like it.
Heavy Rain looks pretty cool.
What about Dead Space 2? Can anyone recommend it?

I'm going to go ahead and recommend 3D Dot Game Heroes if you're a fan of Action RPGs and especially the old-school variety in general. Once you plop it in, you'll probably notice that it seems to be a bit of a parody of the older LoZ games(even though technically they were not RPGs besides the second in the series), but it's actually a lot of fun. Do you like FPSs? If so, go ahead and pick up the Resistance series and Killzone 2. If you are a fan of compilations and were never into the Genesis scene much, then pick up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. It has around 40-50 various titles and can easily be bought for like, no more than $15 new and is an excellent deal. In fact, even if you have played a lot of the titles in the compilation, I'd still say get it. Woo I can't think of anything else, are there any specific types of games that you don't think you'd enjoy?

The only types of games that I would say i probably would just not enjoy are sports games (although if one was super fun, like FIFA 2010 i think? i would give it a shot) and a lot of FPS games. My roommate plays call of duty and it's a cool game, I like it in principle, but I mostly suck at FPS on the console, so my only requirement for FPS games is that they have a good single player, because I won't play the multiplayer. XIII was an awesome FPS because it had a really fun single-player, and I could ignore multiplayer without missing anything.
I remember seeing 3d Dot Heroes but I had no idea it was on the ps3!!!! That game is definitely on my must-have list, thanks for reminding me!!! Actually I just checked out the wiki page and its a ps3 exclusive; I think I saw it but was so disappointed I totally blocked it from memory. I'm definitely getting that!!
I appreciate all the suggestions and I hope anyone else looking for a PS3 does as well. Thanks again guys!

yeah def. get FIFA11. my friends found it very accessible and they aren't football fans at all.

Yeah I like soccer/football and I've heard nothing but good things about that FIFA game. I don't think I'll pick it up immediately but it's definitely on my list of games to get eventually.

I tried to make Jeremy Clarkson using the GameFace thing but he came out looking like some sort of leper. Then for ages I had this leper Jeremy as my little avatar at the bottom of the screen because once you make a GameFace it's hard as heck to get rid of that li'l avatar.
I tried to make Arino too but he came out with really dark looking eyes. The Arino I made by hand in PES came out really good but it's not easy to make proper looking asians in FIFA.

hey guys, i got my ps3 yesterday. i love it.
I only have Uncharted 2, Just Cause 2, and FFXIII right now. I plan on getting Bulletstorm when it's realeased, and I will gradually be getting all/most of the games mentioned here over time.
My ID is ride_spirals if you wanna play something sometime. I heard that Uncharted 2 MP is amazing but I'm still new at the game so I will probably suck at it. I love the game though, it's one of the best I've played in a long time.
