this is cool. roxy music were one of those bands that i never listened to but my dad LOVED and that kind of turned me off as a kid but since getting a bit.. older i've been getting into a whole heap of stuff he used to love so maybe its about that time
also its interesting that being subjected to music as a kid from your parents can have this adverse effect which is like NO MUM YOUR MUSIC SUCKS ITS WAY OLD FUCK SPRINGSTEEN THAT GUY IS THE PITS and i know guys who just cannot listen to things like bob dylan because of repeated listenings as a kid and stuff.
probably makes no sense but whatever!!! this is a cool song thanks

My parents went to see Roxy Music in concert last week; my dad's always been mad on them. Many a car journey staring out the window listening to 'The Strand'. A bit creaky now by all accounts.
Brian Eno was the guy playing about with weird stuff in the band, and if you're looking for chilled out stuff I seriously recommend looking into him, as he helped define and popularise 'ambient' music. 'Music For Airports' is his most well known. A bit more chilled than Sonic Youth though.

yeah I figured ambient music would be good but I thought you wanted more traditional music that sounds sort of ambient

We Will Fall from Iggy & Stooges first album. I think it's right up to your alley.
Seriously though are you kidding, i don't think most of indie is that far away from this?! 90's stonery altrock chilling/ambient jams huh. uh i guess Sun Kil Moon (tonight the sky) or some jams from Modest Mouse. Om and Oxbow maybe. oh yeah, Opal's "Happy Nightmare Baby" album i think? the album where that song is. if you want shorter stints than extended jams then even Mercury Blues by Shiva Burlesque though i guess that's not close enough. FOLD ZANDURA aaaa barf i don't know if they really have those ambience songs most of the time. there's propably lot but i haven't bothered to find out.
