Oh. Alright, the idea here is that we're gonna have a collaborative playlist. We like music, we should share our music so that everyone else has more music and so we can all like music. Cool, right?

What we are going to do is have a collab Spotify playlist. To make sure everything stays varied and to keep from things getting messy, I've outlined the rules/guidelines below. The way collab playlists work on Spotify, anyone with a link to the playlist can edit that playlist. To avoid Problems, I've set up two playlists. One will be the editable one that only people who have signed up to help will have a link to. The other will be one that cannot be edited. I will copy the songs from the editable one to the non-editable one myself. This is the one that will be linked in this topic.
rules/guidelines?
There's a few guidelines to this that will help to keep the playlist fresh and whatnot. Here they are:
- 2 songs per person per week - Gotta limit this or else the playlist could get far too huge.
- 2 weeks between artists - In an effort to get some variety, if you add a song by an artist wait two weeks before you add another song by that artist.
- No joke songs - Not that you can't add songs that are funny, but don't add pure joke songs. If it's not something that someone would genuinely want to listen to as music, please don't go for it.
- Removing songs - Try not to remove songs. If you do wish to remove a song, please add another song in its place. Only remove songs you have added, not other people's songs.
At the end of each month, the playlist will be archived and a new playlist will be made. For editors, the editable playlist will simply be emptied, so you will always be using the same link to add songs. This way, we won't end up with a gigantic playlist that's impossible to sort through.

spotify cause problem/is not available in my Area/songs are in some places but not others ? ? ?
Spotify does have issues with the fact that it is not available everywhere and that some songs are available in some countries but not in others. I don't have a good solution to this. If anyone knows a better way of doing collaborative playlists let me know, but as of right now this is the easiest way. To try to help, I will be posting a full track list at the end of each month and you are welcome to seek out the music through whatever methods you prefer. If you are desperate for some new tunez, check out this music tumblr (http://readmyaudiotapes.tumblr.com) a few of us here are running.
Feel free to use this topic to discuss the playlist, what songs you do and don't like, etc.!

the free version has ads but yes it is free. it's just a music streaming service. i've got spotify premium and i don't have any regrets paying for it tho because it's so dang easy to just add music to and the premium means i can put it all on my iphone and w/e

Totally free man. I'm not allowed to pay for it (Paolo would be all WTF especially as we cancelled netflix and some other shit to CONSOLIDATE MY FINANCES), but if I could I probably would. It's not a HUGE negative using the free version however, as all I have to put up with is an advert every so often (I don't have an iphone so like I am not negatively affected by this :x). I'd definitely suggest using it!

Just an FYI for those of you I haven't seen in IRC: Thursday is the first of March. That means this playlist will be archived (still public of course! It just won't be edited any more) and a March playlist will be started. Because of this, that means that if you want songs on the February playlist, you need to add them before Thursday. This also means that you can essentially add 4 songs this week--two before Thursday and two on/after. Good work guys, I'm really happy with how this has gone so far!

I'm using the email and password I use for facebook but its not letting me in. wtf. That is what it's telling me to do, only it says 'username' instead of email, so I figured maybe my name? Nope that didn't work either. What is my dumbass doing wrong?

Did you actually register a spotify account? I think even if they're connected the two are separate. If you did, then that's the login info you should be using, not your facebook info.

yeah if it wasn't for this i wouldn't even be using it. besides having to link to facebook it's buggy as hell otherwise. i was listening to an album straight through, and then two commercials came up, and when they were done, it didn't play the next track in the album, it skipped two of the album tracks (as if i'd already played them) and played the one after that.

Yeah, the whole album is pretty rad. I figured everyone already knew Knight Baggy so I thought I'd add PingPong since it's my second favorite. Dragster 5k is incredibly good too. The whole album is great.

Basically when I'm back at my computer I'll PM you a link to the editable playlist. It's a private playlist that anyone with the link can edit, so keep the link to yourself. You add stuff to that one based on the rules in the OP (so read those). The edit playlist is the same every month (I wipe it after the month ends), and songs are manually moved from the edit playlist to the public noneditable ones in the OP by me. That's about all there is to it!

for the last week of September, i added two songs from Amanda Palmer's new "Theatre Is Evil" album. i'm so pumped to see her live in November~ :D
