Title: What is this book
Post by: hero_bash on November 13, 2012, 07:40:56 am
SO I read this a long time ago but never got to dfinish it. It's about a dog who was owned by a wealthy person but then something happened and he ended up in the streets or the wild where he learned the brutal ways of the other dogs.

Jack London's Call of the Wild?  It was one of my favorite books when I was a kid.

It's either that or Raine Dog.

Possibly the thing that disturbs me most about that comic is not the dog/child sex story but the fact that someone decided to put his/her full name on there.

The way you say that, it makes it sound like if it was not at all a comic about a dog/child sex story, you would still find it equally disturbing that someone decided to put his/her full name on there.

Like if it really, REALLY was the one thing that disturbed you the most about that comic, then any other thing that also disturbed you about that comic should be completely irrelevant to the context of that one thing you found the most disturbing out of all disturbing things about that comic.

The one thing I found most disturbing about that comic was that in the context of a universe where dogs are 100% capable of enunciating the human language, that the dog is more capable of giving actual consent than the child.

That would be an incorrect conclusion.

No. Hence "the most".  It's one of the things that disturbs me. I never said or implied any of those other things are irrelevant or unimportant, just that one in particular is the most disturbing. There's plenty of people making stuff like this, but it takes a whole other level of insanity to put your full name on a work like this as if it's perfectly okay for the general public to know your fascination with dog/child sex stories.

You know what the funniest thing is? You really didn't need to explain anything. It only took the very slightest of nudges to cause you to create that need entirely on your own, and thus you provided a very good explanation entirely on your own initiative.

That comic does raise an absurd number of questions all on it's own though. If there is a person at the helm of it willing to actually attach their own name to that work, I sincerely fear those questions could very well have already been answered. (except maybe the question of whether or not that person actually fears being the subject of copyright infringement if they had not put their name on that work)

She is naive enough to not think she'll be ostracized for it. Should have kept the weird shit quiet.

I would like to say the hidden meaning has something to do with any angel being way more important than any person regardless of the context, but I am almost certain that the person giving up his virgin daughters had absolutely no idea the two super-sexy dudes he was hosting were angels at all.

Like he was just looking for any excuse to give up his daughters to just about any mob, despite not really needing an excuse to do any such thing whatsoever. I doubt they were even real virgins, he just keeps calling them that on a regular basis in order to make them more desirable to marauding sex-crazed mobs. In short, he's a chronic people-pleaser, and two virgin daughters can please a hell of a lot of people apparently.

The point of Lot is that you are scum and we can ruin your life any time we want, but if you give us what we want, you'll be fine, even if it seems like you won't be. Sacrifice all your possessions for us. Accept your inferiority, or tell yourself it's for love.

His daughters were supposed to be evil & untrustworthy & gross. Their fictional sons were the progenitors of neighboring nations that Israel fought with a lot, and those guys were all shifty inbred bastards. Funny bigots

i liked how Job ended originally. cos the happy ending was added way later, right after where the original text ends - originally it was about god telling job his fucking place (after the hella' misfortunes), goddamn!!!

I like the South Park enactment of the story of Job the best, basically because throughout the entire tale Job accepts everything that is coming to him without a single complaint, and ends up living the rest of his life in terrible pain and misery while knowing and never questioning his place the entire time, right before God says to Satan: "See? SEE?! Job still worships me!"

God sure showed HIM. I just really wish that the story didn't end there though, like Satan notices this pattern and he then replies "Well okay, Job is genuinely super-devout for you, but he is just one guy who just so happens to be exceptionally devout. What about this OTHER guy who ALSO worships you and you ALSO shower with all these other blessings? I bet HE wouldn't be so keen on praising your name if you took away everything HE ever cared about and struck HIM with all these afflictions."
