Title: Film & TV Forum Rules
Post by: local_dunce on September 10, 2006, 08:43:48 pm
Welcome to the Film and Television Forum. Discussing Film can be a delicate subject because you really don't want to go and ruin a film for someone who hasn't seen it by coming in here and saying "HEY GUYS I JUST WATCHED THE FINAL FANTASY 7 MOVIE AERIS DIES" because it ruins the film for everyone who hasn't seen it. For that reason we have to lay down a few rules and most importantly, first I must direct you to the general forum rules. If you don't know them you should at least check them out. "I haven't read them" isn't an excuse and you should have no problem finding them because I am giving you the link right here:

GW Forum Rules (http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=52127.0)

While posting in the Film Media forum we expect you to use common courtesy and follow the same conduct you would in any other parts of the forum.
Spoiler tags are of utmost important. If you don't know them then check the code here:

Quote
Spoiler tag (dark blue background, mouse over to read):
[spoiler] spoiler text here [/spoiler]
Example:

Hide tag (replaces with a link, click to open and see what's inside!):
[hide] hidden stuff here [/hide]
Example:
You can also replace the "Spoiler" text:
[hide=Type what you want it to say here] hidden stuff here [/hide]
Example:
Hide tags can hold both text and pictures!

Thanks.

Now to discuss what this forum is really about. Film Media. This covers more than movies some of you may be surprised to know. Yeah...There is a whole world out there of independant movie makers, guys with cameras in their back gardens and sitting in front of computer screens trying to edit a callout onto a porn flick. Some of you yourselves may work in independant theater or damn, maybe you just took part in a school play and wanted to show us the recording your family took from the back row where the fat guy stands up in front and someone sneezes really loud.

Go for it.

By self made movie I assume you mean something along the lines of a scripted piece of work that you and some buddies threw together while drunk or something. It's fine for you to upload and post it and we can all comment on the camera work, scripting and editing. That's all great just don't break copyright or anything (but how could you.)

If you want MORE SPECIFIC GUIDELINES ask me a more specific question.

That's cool, this forum could yield some real awesome topics. I can also talk about how I think Kurt Russell is so cool, more often.  :sly:

Hey, I know most of the topics I posted already had a topic in general, but all of those topics were a few months old. And since none of the films have been released yet, I figure people are still talking about them and are interested.

I cannot stress enough the usage of spoiler tags. So much that I haven't even stressed it before. But seriously. Use them please!

and please a review rating system okay

Woah, where the hell did this forum appear from. Amazingly timed, since I'm doing a course in Media/Film Production, so I'll be working behind the cameras, writing scripts and eventually creating a short film. Fun times.

Also, congrats Bunnymilk.

Thank you, Also be sure to post that when you've finished.

And I am leaving this topic open for everyone to say "Hey Cool, Film Forum." but also to say "HEY YOU FORGOT TO ADD THIS RULE DO IT NOW." And then I will.

Just wanted to say, to help people in using spoiler tags correctly perhaps show the code for them (the tags are not in the clickable things in the Reply form after all):

Spoiler tag (dark blue background, mouse over to read):
[spoiler] spoiler text here [/spoiler]
Example:

Hide tag (replaces with a link, click to open and see what's inside!):
[hide] hidden stuff here [/hide]
Example:
You can also replace the "Spoiler" text:
[hide=Type what you want it to say here] hidden stuff here [/hide]
Example:
Hide tags can hold both text and pictures!

That comics and anime is more art than films obviously.

I merely moved it to potentially increase traffic to it and let others know about it, so far it has so I plan to keep it up here for a bit longer

Yeah, I agree. It should be put back in the art section.

also why is ANIME under the arts tag and MOVIES aren't in new topic creation.

since the rest of the tags are more or less CREATING the chances of someone making an anime is pretty low compared to a movie.

just an aside while we movin shit.

I don't care where it is but people just stop moving it the fuck around, first it is an art, then it is general, then it's in arts again. Just leave it alone :(

bup who was that wonderful yuan shu...

also I was just thinking you should clarify spoiler rules that if the episode/movie in question has come out you don't need to spoil it, but if it's a leak or something before the release you should.

idk if these are the rules you want tho but fuck SPOIL EVERYTHING TO BE SAFE.

just spoil everything, man.  a lot of people still haven't seen stuff even after it's come out so i dont think you should be posting about an ep a day or two after it comes out without spoilers.  it takes like two seconds!

just because an episode is released in the US doesn't mean it's released everywhere. LOST/Heroes/House/Dexter the shows that people TALK ABOUT come out in the US long before they come out over here in the UK so I can't read them because you guys spoil it all for me.
