And Koopa = kuppa which is Japanese for the Korean rice dish, gukbap. But interestingly enough, I can't find who came up with Bowser. Every single source on Bowser just glosses right over it. Like yeah, I understand they used to fuck around with names to make them less Japanese, I know it's just outta nowhere and some consultant probably did it. But there is no information about who exactly decided he should be called that. I don't know where to find out who was working on noa's [i]Super Mario Bros.
