Title: OLD RECORDS TOPIC
Post by: Mope on December 12, 2013, 01:59:37 am
So, my mom has had a bunch of weathered and possibly water damaged records she found in a trailer which was on some land my parents bought years back, it looks like around thirty of them and I'm going to attempt cleaning them and selling them. I'm not sure whats what yet but before I got started I wanted to ask around and see if anyone here knew anything about old records. What they might be worth without the casing and a safe way to clean mold and dust off of them without damaging them.

Haven't gotten a chance to open them up and see what they are yet but she told me that they were "hippy shit" and the guy that owned them is much older, I'm assuming they're 60s and 70s woodstock era rock recordings. I love that brand of music anyways and am pretty sure I can tell which artists would be worth something but I'd imagine old records period would be worth a little bit. My girlfriend is prolly gonna try to sell them on varagesale but if they're worth a pretty penny I might try to take them to a specialty store or pawn shop. I've got an old record player and am gonna try to play some of them to make sure they work (if it works) but I just wanted to check and see if this is even worth the time or if anyone here is even interested in that sort of stuff.

I'm gonna look through them now, I'll list any of the ones I recognize but I'm pretty sure all of the coverart is too damaged to tell what it might have been. Shit, I might have to play them to figure out what they are.

So far I've found 1974 rush and 1977 aerosmith and I'm assuming they're their first or very early albums and those two are alot better off than I thought. Cover a little damaged but still eligible. I'll just keep updating this post with what I find I reckon and I'll post a comprehensive list and pics when I get a chance.

- Traffic
- Cheech and chong
- Peter Frampton

all of these are around 1974 as far as I know

- Styx
- JIMI MOTHERFUCKIN HENDRIX

Ok, I gave my dad some and I'm gonna photograph what I got left. If anyone wants them and is willing to pay shipping and handling then lemme know. Merry christmas motherfuckers.

Sorry if the pics are a little blurry or upside down. Dumbass ipod and my hands shake a little bit. If you need clarification on a record or artist title or what songs they consist off just ask and I'll post it. If you'd like a clearer picture I'll try to get you one. Some of the covers got a little damaged though so some stuff might not be legible. Everything is written on the records themselves though.

famous ghost stories looks really cool!  I might want a copy of that, except I need to check if any of my friends have a record player.
