I'm glad this project has already reached its goal, I'd never heard of any of these games before (Theresa Duncan's Chop Suey, Smarty and Zero Zero) but they look like 100% the stuff of wide-eyed denzquix dreams, the digital preservation/online emulation nerd-shit side to it is exciting to me too:

Idk if this is in the scope of this topic or not but I am really obsessed with this era of computing, I buy tons of old software from thrift stores. 99% of this stuff is going to be completely gone when the discs are gone because I don't know if anyone is archiving like...weird old house design software or whatever. House design software is the best though because you get these weird attempts at photorealistic 3D graphics that are actually just flat graphics thrown into a 3D plane, so everything ends up looking like it's from Guardian War for the 3DO. I got some software a while back that had a bunch of ads for their other software and the ads ended up being the best part of it, I uploaded them all here (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL27Vf9GKonmIUDkmxEb_Dew-gfeMneQI0). There was even a trailer for a game called The Umbra Conspiracy, which I'm still not sure if it ever even came out:

I'm gettin dangeorusly close to just talkin about FMV games here so I'd better stop before I pass that point of no return aaaaaa
e: I will say tho that in reference to old games For Girls(tm) I am still desperately trying to get my hands on a copy of McKenzie & Co

archive.org's definitely been getting into it, there's over 2000 CD-ROM images in this collection: https://archive.org/details/cdbbsarchive (https://archive.org/details/cdbbsarchive)
textfiles.org has a load of old miscellaneous CD-ROMs up too: http://cd.textfiles.com/directory.html (http://cd.textfiles.com/directory.html)
i really wanna try that 3D house designer now...

i checked with Jason Scott about this on Twitter (he's a major architect behind archive.org's move into software preservation projects (http://blog.archive.org/author/jasonscott/)) and he said anyone who signs up at archive.org is welcome to upload CD-ROM rips to the Archive too (i checked because the upload form only mentions audio, video and books, it doesn't mention software yet)
edit: just went through the process for this, as a test, added a CD-ROM collection of fan-made Worms levels to "Community Software": https://archive.org/details/OhYesMoreWorms1996 (https://archive.org/details/OhYesMoreWorms1996)

Oh damn when I get back to the US I'll archive my stuff then! So far I've not had any luck finding weird old non-game software here in Japan but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

i was in a thrift store in virginia a few weeks ago and I found this "make your own 3D video games" kit in the multimedia aisle, all the text was in that exaggerated red orange word art style and there was a picture of a generic space marine holding a generic space rifle on the cover. one of the tag lines was "Make your own action packed games with the same tools used to make Quake" or something like that. i wish i had bought it now, but it was missing the manuals and one of the cds, and I didn't have much money either way.

update to the first post: the online emulation project for Theresa Duncan CDs is done, and there was a game jam for new games inspired by it (just finished yesterday): http://itch.io/jam/femicom-game-jam-1 (http://itch.io/jam/femicom-game-jam-1)

this one was co-produced by IBM and they really want you to know. the first thing you see when you launch it is a giant fullscreen IBM logo
also it comes with a help file that includes instructions for adults on how to react when children make things

Small child, I find your use of different textures intriguing. Tell me more about the tools you used in Craoyla Brand Software Paint n Play Pony(tm) to create these zigzags, they're truly splendid.
