Now we can stop using the pirate version and get the official release and sell our RPG Maker 2003 games guys.  :incredible:

The official release fixes numerous bugs that the pirate version has, including having a working installer creator, the games contain the fonts already on start, no longer reliant on DirectDraw and a helpfile that works on systems newer than XP!.  :pope:

On Steam, 2003 is half-off for the next several days. VX Ace is also going for $15... tempting...

EDIT: sale over.

About the new 2k3: The resolution fix is not perfect, but has the proper 320x240-multiples AR so looks crisp. Hex-editing the string tables and other shit still works. There's some weird compatibility stuff I've encountered and might have to rebuild a few parts of the games for, but otherwise, it's great.

Well, better late than never I guess, having much less limitations however makes it very tempting to get since I still use RPG Maker 2003 to make a lot of my projects.

Yes, as long as you own the rights to all the resources or they have license to be used commercially.

Considering how wild west style RPG Making used to be, I wouldn't use any of the older resources as they have no clear TOS unless they were specifically done for you or by you.

Maybe.

They did release RPG Maker 2000 too.

Does anyone know if you can use the Rm2k resources in Rm2k3 if you bought both versions?

Yup, if I recall, most resources transfer over just fine (I remember somethings didn't and I can't remember what). You'll have to redo the map physics and whatnot manually but that just goes without saying.

Yeah but I mean more like is it legal. I thought I read somewhere that you can't use resources from any RPG Maker in another engine.

legal smeagol. I'd be surprised if they came after you because you ripped Alex out of the tutorial game in 2k and resurrected his blue-haired ass in 2k3. I guess I wouldn't put the game up on steam with ripped gfx with an intent to sell, but if your game's -that- ready then it's time to commission some artists to make it look good.
