I've talked about this before, but I want to discuss the possibility of bringing back the old GamingW website, or at least a new website for GamingW. I think there are a number of advantages to this, but I'll also acknowledge some cons as well.
Pro
- Will create a new hub for our community to post news, resources and promote games. Even if we use itch.io for hosting the games themselves, GamingW could be used as a way to link these games in one place and make them more easily accessible and also to promote them.
- The website can attract new members, or members from RPGMaker.net. I doubt GamingW.net will ever be as big as it was during it's prime, but any growth is good.
- With RPGmaker.net down for the count GamingW.net can essentially fill the gap. As it stands I don't think there is an equivalent RPGMaker website anymore.
- We can link people's Twitch accounts to show when they're streaming, as well as the forums and GW music all in one place.
Con
- It will be a lot of work, especially to get it up to modern web standards.
- More attention isn't always a good thing, especially if it attracts undesirables. Even barring this the larger a community becomes the more difficult it gets to manage.
- The work might not necessarily pay off.
What are your opinions on the matter?

Dos already said on Discord. Theres a minimal version coming soon!

I don't think it needs to be anything fancy. At this point even just vanilla html/js/css in some GH page is better just to have something to look at from time to time.

I know dos talked about it before, I mostly wanted to see everyone's opinions and ideas on the matter without acting like the webpage was guaranteed to happen before it launches.
I agree, hero. A simpler webpage would probably be best, not so different from the original webpage albeit updated to modern web standards and maybe mobile friendly. While adding in extra stuff like GW radio and streaming stuff would be cool, the main thing I wish for would be a good place to showcase game projects, resources and community news.

I don’t know if it’s actually possible for GW to have a mainsite. I think there’s a wizard’s curse that was placed on it.
In seriousness, I’d be up for trying to make a website but I think we need to know what kind of audience we want to appeal to. Indie devs? Creative types? Weirdos?
Also it would be a good idea to know what exact features we want to have.

Personally I think it's best to start small. The main focus I think should be RPGMaker, Godot and Game Maker stuff. Rather than hosting the games on the site just create pages which links to the games on Steam, itch.io, etc. That would allow games to have pages of their own where people can upload screenshots and promote their games without necessarily having to be hosted on the website. Other than that it can be used to host tutorials, news and some resources ie: RPGMaker tilesets. Basically kind of like the way the original website was at first, and over time new features can be implemented. As for who the website should be made for? I think primarily RPGMaker users and indie developers.
