Post by: the bloddy ghost on May 13, 2007, 02:39:07 am
Freeware Funfest V2

Please post the name of the game, a link, and a little bit of info on it. At the least, put the genre of game it is!
I did a bit of cleaning to make sure there were no dead links.

Please do not post commercial games, warez, RM2k games, or mods in this topic.

If you could change Icy Tower's link to this, that would be great: http://www.download.com/Icy-Tower/3000-2099_4-10500045.html?tag=lst-0-1

Lord Monarch, a real-time strategy game by the same company as Vantage Master.  This isn't my cup of tea, so I haven't played much of it.

http://www.falcom.co.jp/monarch/index_e.html

Lure of the Temptress, the freshman effort by the same team who would go on to make the unbelievably awesome Broken Sword series.

On that note, Beneath a Steel Sky (http://www.revolution.co.uk/_display.php?id=16) is also awesomeness incarnate.

Dunno how this went under the radar, but last month Command And Conquer 95 was made legally downloadable by EA.

GDI Disk (http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/c_c/GDI95.iso)

NOD Disk (http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/c_c/NOD95.iso)

Instructions for running on modern Operating Systems (http://files.ea.com/downloads/eagames/cc/tiberium/Anniversary/CCGOLD_XP_INSTALL.doc)

For those who don't know how, how to get online play to work on a modern system (http://strike-team.net/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=82)

Due to the file size, it can be a long download if your still on dial up. Either burn 'em to disk, mount 'em with Daemon Tools or whatever. Winrar can apparently rxtract files from ISO now too, so thats an option.

Even if this was known and even though its probably up on a lot more torrents now, I felt this needed to be mentioned as its kind of buried on the Command and conquer site.

I don't know if you guys were aware of this or not, but Gamespot has a compilation over fucking like 300 freeware games from 2007. A ton of them look amazing and people should probably check them out!

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25943291

P.S. A few GW games are on there like Goldeneye2D and Valdis Story (although that might be from another community, idk??)

Wow, I never realized the freeware scene could be quite so massive. All those games in a year, and so many of them appear exceptionally creative.

Well they have Wilfred the Hero on there and that is early 2006 or maybe even 2005 (I can't remember) so not all of them are from the same year.
