the show stars Hugh Laurie and he is a doctor who is somewhat crippled and basically solves cases with his team, while acting like an asshole. Its really hard for me to describe it, and I'm sure Wikipedia does a better job. Its great.

So who saw the episode today???

Holy crap they failed! That was amazing, when the guy and his dog died I kind of  ​'d. The ending scene was amazing too, and I loved the fake doctor. All in all this season is kicking major ass.

This was the first time I had ever seen this show, seeing as how I don't watch much TV but happened to be hanging out with a loyal House fan.  I'd have to say, this was a pretty cool episode and it seems like a pretty neat show, but seeing as how I...well...don't want much TV, I probably won't make the attempt to start watching it.  Still, had to say it was pretty neat.

I enjoy House, though I didn't start watching it until last season. Everyone tells me I came in at the wrong time, because apparently Season 3 wasn't as strong as 2 or 1....but I've enjoyed it, and become a big fan.

This is the first episode I caught this season. I usually watch Eureka on Tuesdays, but now that's over I'm back to House.

Anyway, yeah, I really liked this episode, and the chick who's all "Girl-House" or whatever is a pretty interesting character so far. I like that they're sort of playing up the whole "Foreman is House" thing, going on in the B story, too.

I downloaded the whole show as of now a while ago for my sister (first three seasons) and started watching last week.  i've spent more time on the couch since then than i have since i watched the 4400 straight through-- that is to say about a month ago.

but yeah, it is a good show!  I did not see the new epi though.

Yeah I've been a loyal fan since the show started. It's a really great show, and they did a good job on turning it around this season (3+ seasons of the same crew just solving health mysteries got boring).

I am hoping to god kumar doesn't get hired.

I kind of want that black dude, the old dude and the hot girl (not the sneaky one)

I recently bought the first two seasons of this series and downloaded the third one.
It's utter genius, but I'm happy they turned the story around in the fourth season.

I'll have to download episode two now.

Yeah I am loving the new competition dynamic it really adds a lot more to the show. The past seasons have been getting less and less interesting and suddenly it just became FUN again this season. It may have been a risk of the producers to give the show such a sudden change but it is really working out well and hopefully this keeps the show going strong for a while before it settles back into being random episodes.

I'm a huge house fan but I've only seen seasons 1 + 2, I missed the whole Season 3 thing over here, but I've preordered the DVD Box Set. HOWEVER I would like to ask in future that you add a little more content to your post other than HEY WHO LIKES THIS PROGRAM!>? and then a spoiler (thanks btw)

Same here, I just watched the episode. Losing his original team was a great way to revistalise the series, but now that Foreman got fired...again I get the feeling he'll come back to the hospital like Chase and Cameron.

This entire season has blown chunks. Seasons 1-3 were fantastic. I think they need to hire a team and get on with the show. The whole "boys vs gurls" thing is lame and takes away from the show.

I liked how Foreman's team was a mirror image of House's team.  It was like I was watching Seinfeld for a bit.

I'm not liking this season as much as previous seasons.

When the car-accident dude jammed his knife in the socket, and I witnessed House's blank reacton, I was thrown into a fit of laughter so hard that I jumbled every single grammar cell in my head. I couldn't form a sentence for minutes afterwards, it was insanely nice. I don't remember laughing so hard for a long time.

House is quality stuff. I like how they changed things about this season instead of sticking to the usual formula. Okay, so it still sticks to the usual "guy comes in. Needs a cure. The team get it wrong a few times. Guy almost dies. House saves the day" formula, but now he has more people to insult.

He had something-I-can't-pronounce-or-really-remember syndrome.  I'm not medicaltitian, so I don't worry too much about the why's.  They did explain it though (in the sense that they said he had X disease, and this means Y happens).

You can't pronounce mirror?

Part of his disease was a syndrome that caused him to analyze people, and then reflect what he saw. Apparently with really good accuracy. I assume this syndrome is real but it's probably been exaggerated incredibly for the episode.

It was Mirror?  I couldn't make out what they said initially and assumed it was something like Marore's (or some guy's name) Syndrome.

Has anyone been watching this? I just watched the latest (last?) episode on the season. latest episode: and it it totally threw a curve ball at me, House being crazy and making up a story for himself that he and Cuddy had sex. I mean... I seriously did not see that coming.

Also, they brought Cutner back for a moment in House's head along with Amber.

EDIT: I just realised... this could be the end of the show... it is pretty conclusive... it is also utterly and completely depressing. did they announce another season? or announce that the show was over?

I was going to make a topic, I'm glad there already is one.

Season 6 has already begun production though, so yeah there is a new season coming out, don't you think they would've said something if they didn't intend to make more?


I'm real into this show, I'm surprised I missed this topic!
I think season 5's finale is the worst so far, and I'm pretty disappointed that Kutner's death was done so poorly, but Locked In was one of the best episodes of the entire series in my opinion. Lately things have gotten too predictable medicine-wise, and without that they've taken to focusing on the character relationships, which really sucks.

13 really needs to leave!

Yeah I have noticed they are paying more attention to character relationships than their weird and wacky cases like in the earlier seasons. I don’t think Kutner's death was so bad, true they didn’t build up to it but I think that’s what made it shocking because you just wouldn’t have suspected it. House's current predicament is pretty cool... not sure if he is schizophrenic but it will be interesting to see how he deals with the illusions of dead people and how they are going to manifest further.

No, in the episode before the last they determined that it was the Vicodin that was making him hallucinate.
Kutner's death was good in that it was shocking, but you can tell it wasn't planned and it was very poorly done! Kal Penn wasn't even in the episode! It would've been so much better if they had just shown him at the beginning or something for even a few seconds.

If you look at the other finales, they all end with a big twist, and then the next season starts with House adapting to some change, so I think this coming season could be very good as House could be solving cases from in the rehab facility!
I'm interested in seeing what they do with the team, because a lot of people are pretty tired of Foreman. I think he could be salvaged if they get into a storyline with his brother or something, but he's been playing the asshole for a few years and it's way tired.

After House’s detox and the Huddy sex turned out to be his fantasies, what was real in the episode? The Chase/Cameron wedding? The conversations with Wilson?
There has been some speculation about this, but we weren’t trying to pull any fast ones on the viewers. Every scene that House wasn’t in was real. But even the stuff that House was in was real—it was just his perception of the lipstick/pills that was distorted. And there was no detox or sex.

Will House really get sober this time?
He’s certainly going to purse that. We want to treat this seriously and we want to go down that road.

Why did he enter a psychiatric institution rather than rehab?
The problems are deeper than just the drugs, which are obviously an essential element of it. The fact is he used plenty of Vicodin before, but until Kutner’s death, on top of Amber’s death, he was somehow able to cope with it. He knows he needs to be locked up somewhere or it’s just not going to work. He realizes he has a problem and he has to do something about it. What’s the future for a Cuddy/House romantic relationship?
Initally, there are bigger issues on the table, but it would be dishonest to just let that disappear. Obviously House has feelings for her. Even though the love affair didn’t happen, in House’s mind it did.

Will House be back at work when the season begins?
No. We want to deal with this in as realistic way as possible. We are going to be with House, but it’s not going to be at Princeton-Plainsboro. We want to take it through the process that House is going through.

How will House’s group at work function without his presence?
It’s always nice to pull the central cog out of something and see what happens. How Foreman and Thirteen react; how Cameron and Chase react. Those are all the things that will make this fun.

Yep. next season's going to be pretty different. I have no idea how it turns out. But I can't see an episode without house diagnosing someone so I believe he might actually go around doing that in the loony bin.

I think Cutner's death was amazingly well done, but they did not use it very well. I actually don't quite get season 5. The first theme of the season is House silently questioning his atheism a couple of episodes in a row, then Cutner dies, then he starts hallucinating. None of these events were really fleshed out too much. Why didn't they try to tie his hallucinations to Cutner? He showed up at the end of the finale but it's not clear whether his death had anything to do with House going crazy. Why didn't they explain how House reconciliated his inability to rationalize his suicide? On the whole, I feel this season was a little irresolute.

I dunno. The theme to me seemed to be that House has some really serious problems. He's addicted to vicodin and also happens to be almost inhuman. He was able to cope with Kutner and Amber's death like pretty much nothing.  Untop of that he isn't very happy with himself and he knows it.  I guess this season was just about building things up so that he's finally pushed over the edge and can start dealing with the shit that is wrong with him. Even in the season with Stacey, it was shown that he had this really stupid outlook on life before his leg... Granted, I don't think they'll ever have him CHANGE INTO WILSON or something, but yeah, the dude needs some help

Season 4 is my favorite one, too. Even though it was cut short, I loved the ensemble they had with all of the doctors during the competition. Made for some great humour, and some good drama at the end. I think they succeeded where other shows failed with the limitations the the writer's strike imposed.

So, yeah, I never condone skipping seasons or even episodes, but look forward to season four, if you're just starting.

Yeah but there wasn't really a concerted effort to try and tie any of these things together into one cohesive direction. He saw things that other people attributed to god, and started having doubts for a couple of episodes, but after a while those events went away and they were never mentioned again. Cutner commits suicide, House beats himself up over not being able to figure out why he did it, and after that it's never referenced again. His hallucinated version of Amber almost makes him subconsciously kill Chase; why? Everything else Amber did only hurt him. Was she just there to cause havoc? House is a very prone to self-destructive behavior, but why did she make him go after Chase? Instead of taking just one concept into the next season (Stacey after season 1, his possible recovery after season 2, his entire team's resignation after season 3, and Amber's death after season 4), we're left with 3 major questions. The finale resolves the mystery surrounding his hallucinations by making him go to a mental institution but it didn't really do much to resolve any of the other questions that presented themselves thoughout the season.

I found the 4th season to be the worst.  The whole "survivor" subplot was pretty lame, and took attention away from House and the interesting cases.

I'm glad that they got back to interesting cases in season 5 - the guy with split brain was sweet, and the guy who was brutally honest was entertaining too.

I still like the lecture episode the best (from Season 1 or 2) where he goes into a long story about 3 patients with leg problems.

New season. Just watched the first episode on Hulu(which is really the first and second put into one). I understand the '3rd' episode has already been aired but Hulu gets it 8 days late(as it will for all future episodes). I have not watched it yet. I DLed it. Will watch it later.

commenting on the combo first/second episode:
I was kind of bummed that they didn't explore the psych ward thing more then just a single 80 minute episode. I was hoping he'd fix people in the ward but he got better. Which is nice but worrisome, as I don't think the show will be as interesting if he is suddenly nicer, but if he stays a jerk then this whole thing was bullshit.

I too thought that they underused the change of venue, but (and I don't think it is a spoiler to say this) at least Dr. Nolan continues to play a role. It is interesting to have one person that House actually seems to respect/depend on for a change. This is one of the few tv shows that I actually watch, and I'm enjoying this season so far. I like that they shook up the formula of "It is 8:52, this can't be the final diagnosis yet" a little bit for a change.

I thought the premiere felt a lot more like a movie than a tv show ep, and I definitely liked that there wasn't a case.

The 3rd episode 'Epic Fail' I think it was called felt rather different from the regular House episode with all the special effects they used, I didn’t think it was great but I suppose they were just trying to mix it up a little.

The video game aspect of the episode felt a little too farfetched and watching the bisexual Dr try imitating the chimp swinging around in the virtual world seemed a little too ridiculous. I still consider this show to be my favourite at the moment and will be interested to see how things turn out for house and the team.

Yea Chase is interesting again for the first time since maybe season 2 and Taub is for the first time ever. I just watched yesterday's episode and I am glad the House-Cuddy thing seems to be headed for the backseat for a while. They really need to find something to do with Foreman because I don't think there's been a single person happy to see him since he quit the team.

The next episode is called "Wilson," and it's going to be in his POV with House in few scenes, very cool!
