Title: Will Ridley be a playable character in Brawl?
Post by: Erave on October 28, 2007, 04:00:03 am: Alright, I know there's been lots of debate over this and I was wondering what you guys think of Ridley qualifying as a playable character in Brawl. Not that this poll will decide anything but my roommate got in a scuffle over this and we wanted to see what most people think.

Some facts to know, he was the third most requested character on Sakurai's Poll. Anyways vote and discuss.

Personally I have no idea who he is, but I'd like to know what you guys think!

HONESTLY I think he will be a boss! I think it's a bit fucking unlikely he'll be a playable character, he/it REALLY does not, idk, fit in, I guess!

He's a dragon-ish creature. You fight him in many of the Metroid games.

Post by: Thores on October 28, 2007, 05:02:02 am: He was initially my most wanted character for Brawl. The size argument was bullshit to me. Metroid NEEDED more representation. And he's a total badass.

But then Charizard got playable status, and honestly, I can't see anything Ridley can do that Charizard can't. Unplayable bosses got announced since then too, and even I'll admit that Ridley fits that role much better than he would playable. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he DID get in the roster, but I'm not getting me hopes up or even think he's a neccessary addition anymore.

Not like settling an arguement. I really was just wondering what must people though.

It's just a silly poll, calm down guys. I know talking/voting/speculation about it won't change anything, but it's fun.

Size: they would rescale him
wings: he'd glide (like Charizard, Meta-Knight, and Pit)
Moves: more than enough variety

I've heard some folks say that "he'd be too big" or "he'd be too awkward" but come ON. The controls are the same no matter who you play as, so the only difference between the characters is their style of movement and attacks. If they put Ridley in, they'll find a way to make it work and keep it balanced.

I just don't get why some people insist on being so pessimistic.
