Title: nVidia graphics card problems
Post by: Aten on November 01, 2007, 09:08:31 am
Ok, so I found a mmorpg called Tales of Pirates, its cool, but a bit too much for my poor 64mb card to handle, so I decided to buy a 256MB card. So, the only thing available was a "nVidia geforce 6200 a-le" model agp graphics card. Well, It got the game running alright :) BUT I've hit a big snag. After playing the game (and even during it) the color like, messes up.
btw, thats NOT my actual message, just example xD My message says, "NV4_DISP.dll caused an infinite loop" (or something)
OK, so I have the latest drivers an all that and STILL it fucks up like this, and it's annoying the fuck out of me. Any help?
EDIT:
Forgot, when I preform a direct 3D test with directX 9.0c, I get this

Did you overclock it at all?

It's propably not getting enough juice from the power supply (highly unlikely since it's a crappy card), overheating (once again, highly unlikely because it sucks), overclocked or just broken (most likely).

I was gonna say it sounds broken, dead cards often do that colour thing if they work.

When you plugged it in, did you update your drivers at all (Although looking at your DXDiag, it seems that you may already have)? There could be a driver conflict with your older card. If you haven't, try updating your graphics card drivers, and try updating DirectX.

Luckily it's only a 6200... those things are ancient/worthless.
My 6200 was shit too dude. It gave me stop errors rather often and... god, there was so much wrong with it. I can't even remember all the problems I had. I eventually bought a 7300 GS and that ran better but when I got my 7800 GT I didn't get any more stop errors or encounter any more problems!

I had problems with infinite loop stop screens when I didn't know I had two different driver installations. You might want to run driver cleaner pro and clear the computer of the (multiple if I'm right) display drivers, then reinstall the new drivers.

2 weeks? seems well within most return policies. even the more stingy ones are around 30 days.
