Title: Would anyone be interested in a World of Warcraft TCG tournament?
Post by: HL on November 21, 2007, 12:34:26 am
yeah I know a lot of people here are TCG haters or something, but I actually kind of like the WoW TCG, its really fun and interesting imho!

I just want to know if anyone here would be interested playing over the internet with a program called OCTGN, its a tcg playing system. its pretty cool (and free).

if you'd be interested just say so and i can hook everyone up when we get a good amount maybe. if you haven't played before you can find rules etc here: http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/wow/en/howtoplay/default.aspx

it has a demo (which is btw, one of the most amazing TCG demos ever) + manual in PDF form etc.

i just want to get a concensus on interest in this and/or look for people to play with maybe??

I've never played the game before but i would be willing to give it a try.  Of course i'd prefer a Spoils Tourny, but i guess no one really plays it around here much...

I would really like a Spoils tournament too, but I'm waiting for the next set to come out next month before I jump back into it, to see if it keeps the balancing act going or not.

(and then I'll definately try and run one here, its so easy (lol 1 page manual) but really really good and has lots of depth.)

I've played a few games back at BlizzCon so I have a little experience playing I'd be willing to try it. Problem is though I'm on a mac right now so chances are the program won't work until I can get a copy of XP to run on my laptop

Bootcamp is a pretty easy to install app if you got a copy of XP around.

though you do need an intel mac to run it.

This game was extremely one-sided when I played it.
These dumb druid and shaman decks never lost. Seriously, there was less balance than Yugioh.

I played 2 games against DN yesterday and so far it seem pretty fun so far, or at least it was when I destroyed DN's Shadow priest with my Warlock DoT deck(that he made for me...).  I don't know anything about balance yet, since i've only seen 2 decks and i don't think i've even seen all the cards in those decks used in game-play, though I know DoT can get ridiculous(i finished off DN with ten damage before my turn had even started).

Anyways, fun game, I hope to make my own deck eventually, once I can get the deck editor to work for me.

And he got it fixed!!!

I pulled out a Thunderfury and wound up with some 17 resources....had him down to 1 health...

I showed a little bit of mercy and his DoTs take affect....and he gets Steal Essence and kills me.

I had an orc with thunderfury and an onslaught girdle, and everything....=(

Showing mercy is a little arrogant.
Especially in card games!

Well you now see why showing mercy is BAD because it makes you look arrogant (and lose.)

I looked over the cards and played a few matches with my friends and I might be in for this.  Still don't like
the game a lot, but I have nothing better to do. :(

Yeah well.....

I'll be posting info next week (probably next Wednesday-ish) to get everyone setup, tell them how the program works command wise and UI wise etc, help people setup, run games with everyone who is playing if they want, go over any rules they don't get etc, then we'll probably get started next Sunday...

Played some more games(against DN) and i've been having some fun screwing around with my deck, espically with the new set.  Anyone up for a game(not DN though, i'm tired of kicking your ass)?
