Yeah heard about this on Joystiq. I usually like discovery's documentaries, I watched 2057 and thought it was honestly really well done and interesting. yet to see any of the Planet Earth stuff, I might Bittorrent it.
It starts with the very beginning of video games, where people thought it was just a fad that's just going to end in a couple of years to present day, where the big powerful computers are able to run incredible games, but also where some current gamers are incredibly jaded.
Anyway, it starts at 8 tonight (nine for me though I'm mountain time), anyone else going to see it? its probably going to be the first thing I've watched on TV in months.
EDIT: oh and I almost forgot to mention that today is only going to be "part one" I think its going to be weekly. not sure though. don't know how many parts there is going to be...

That'll be 2 good shows! First this one at 8, then MythBusters!
Thanks for the news.

I'm a huge fan of games, but I don't want to watch this. I'm also a huge fan of competitive video gaming, but I never watched the documentary they made on that.
Why don't I like them? Well, why would I need someone to tell me what gaming is all about, when clearly it's going to be yet another generic account of what we all already know, sugarcoated with language that makes it easy for stupid people to understand? I actually played all those dumb games and partook in stuff like Quake modding, so I pretty much know both from the outside and inside what it's about, anyway.

Yeah, I love watching documentaries on things I don't know about, but not so much on stuff like this.
Still, good for people not into games I guess.
-
I will probably watch this because I have nothing better to do except finish reports from work.
Wednesday TV sucks.

just because you already know a lot about video games does not mean it has nothing to tell you that you have not learned before. Anyway even if I end up know pretty much all the stuff they talk about, it would still be entertaining to me. I mean, its on a topic I'm interested in.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I know, but 90% of it will be stuff I already know?
And yeah the second part of your post doesn't apply to me.
On topic I doubt I even get the same Discovery Channel as you guys :(.

I doubt they'll say anything I don't already know.

So uh... this isn't on. In Canada, at least. That's pretty disappointing.

I was actually pleasantly surprised, I found it quite enjoyable. I knew most of it but there was some real good guests on there, and it was presented very well. Will definitely be watching the rest if they keep up the quality.
Hopefully it'll be weekly. It's extremely easy to get on torrent if you're not in America, also.
