Title: What are you giving/getting as gifts for Christmas?

I just started thinking about it today.

I think I'd like a Wii personally, they seem to have some neat stuff.

As for others, I still haven't decided. My fiancee and I are getting married in early January, so probably something "sentimental" she can display and be all girly about.
For the folks, maybe some good books.

I've only gotten a few gifts so far. I got my friend Kiona a Roots album on vinyl which is the coolest one so far. Her girlfriend said she wanted weed for christmas so I'm going to buy a 20 of mersh and string it together like one of those candy necklaces.

I don't care what I get, I have told no one what I want this Christmas (normally I say what I want)

Here's what I'm giving:
Mom - Infrared Sauna (We sell them at work, I got a good deal .. family is chipping in as well)
Dad - Ram and some  computer accessories
Brother - A Mario cart slot car set he loved when he saw like a month ago, and some small things
Girlfriend - I'm sure if I put them here they may be stumbled upon before XMas so I'm holding hers off
Girlfriend's Dad - Premium scotch he loves

I only have two things on my list right now; CSI Season 7 and Idiot Box on DVD.  I'll probably add more later but those are the only two things I've thought of so far.

Giving
Parents - various Time Team episodes; a British archeology show
Sister - a Who's Line is it Anyway DVD
Brother - not sure... (I just remembered he's got a Wii so I'll probably get him something for that)

Lol...part of my x-mas shopping is also too my birthday!  :fogetlaugh:

Hummm...so far I've bought a couple of clothes, 4 shirts, 2 pair of jeans, new runners...I've lost like 51 pounds, so I figured I need to get rid of my fat clothes! (although there is still lots of work to do...)

Oh...I'm 6'1 and 246 now.  :fogetsmile:

I have about $1560 in my account, with a mastercard limit of $3000...

I'm buying myself a MP3 player this Friday, I have like NOTHING to listen to on the way to work. (which is a 45 min walking fest)

...And I'm stuck on everything else...

Lol, I'm happy with most of the stuff I have now...

...as for my parents, hummm...I chipped in on the new fridge and stove we bought...I hardly see my mom, maybe something sports wise? My brother has been a stealing lying jerk for the past two years...he's probably not getting anything. (Anybody who owes people $21,000 in debt, and has sold countless things...deserves nothing...)

mom- she wants some expensive perfume set
dad- probably just a bunch of DVD's (about 10 or so)
girlfriend- she really wants sky diving lessons, so I am getting her those and like some small stuff.

I've told people this year that all I want for Christmas is to go to a movie theatre and see a movie. That's it. However, there is a Star Trek game coming out for the Wii that I'm sure someone will get me (because I'm a Trekkie). I'm usually done with Christmas shopping by now but this year I haven't had the time to do it. I barely have the time to grocery shop.

Mum, Dad and assorted siblings still living at home: I got the house a Wii.
Mother-in-law: Gift certificates to the day spa in town so she can get a massage or a facial or something she wants
Father-in-law: Anyone got any good ideas? 'Cause I'm drawing blanks.
Sister-in-law: I'm still debating. She wants a cell phone which is a definite NO. She also wants some new iPod but she got an iPod last year so... there are a few other things on the list but the biggest thing she's asking for is money to shop with. Maybe a prepaid Visa or something. She's also asked for Guitar Hero for the 360. Teenaged girls are impossible to shop for...
Brothers-in-law: Every year I get them a fancy shirt and tie and put Autumn's name on the tag so I'll do that this year. Otherwise I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
Daughter: !(@%)#@!_@$)!#(* she's even harder to shop for than my sister-in-law. She's mostly grown out of the fall and winter clothes I bought for her in August so she'll need more clothes. As for toys, man she has EVERYTHING. I'm thinking about either a Leappad book thing and/or a dollhouse.

I'm seriously considering getting my inlaws a Wii as a house gift. I loaned my sister-in-law my Wii back in the middle of September and I didn't get it back until the beginning of November because my mother-in-law was having too much fun with it.

Last year I bought a bottle of champange and we all did a toast at my husband's stone so I think we'll do that again this year.

I'm buying one nephew a Gamecube, the other two nephews some games, my nieces will all probably get dolls or some other girly things that 5 year old girls play with.  I'll probably buy my brother some Yankees memorabilia, and my youngest sister some games for her DS.

The things on my wishlist are rather expensive, so I think I'll probably get giftcards, which is fine by me.

What I'm doing for Christmas is instead of buying people presents, I'll take my family and close friends out for dinner and pay the bill, letting them and encouraging them to get whatever they want on the menu. I went to Charlie Browns steakhouse last year for this, I think this year I'll go to a brick oven pizzeria. I haven't decided.

I want to start getting better grades so I can have a chance at med school :(

I wish I had lots of money so I could buy a Digital SLR camera. Right now, I'm tryin to find a good deal on a Canon SX100IS. It's the best I can get for my money without dealing out $800 or more for a camera + lenses.

This year I am going to try to make/do something more personal for my girflriend's Christmas present. Something UNIQUE or unusual. Not jewelry or chocolates or teddy bears or bath and body lotion sets............... I can't think of anything good right now

I will probably buy some sort of educational toy for my little sister (she is 8).

I will get something thoughtful for my mom like a certificate for a free massage or something.

My dad is really hard to shop for. Every single gift I've gotten him has had to do with the New England Patriots or shotglasses...... I need to start getting creative.

Im getting my mom and step dad this set of rod iorn candle holders that go on the walls that I picked up at Bed Bath and Beyond and now I need to get candles for them, but i refused to pay 2 dollars for one inch tall candles at Bed Bath and Beyond

I got my nefew (who lives with me and is basically a little brother) Halo 3 for his Xbox360 he is getting.

I got my sister and her husband Mario Galaxy for their Wii

And I am getting a new set of speakers for my car and I dont know any of my other gifts, but the subwoofer and speakers is all ive asked for,

this topic makes me glad that i do not bother with this bullshit.  all this shit costs MONEY, man.  i used to get pretty pumped about it as a kid though, so i'm kind of looking forward to being some old guy with a family and giving my children shit!

but if any of us bothered with this kind of thing, i would probably buy my parents some crazy nice dinner or like uh, a GAS CARD or something.  they like going to nice places, and gas is useful especially because my mom drives an suv because she likes 4x4s for winter, and it gets horrible gas mileage.  although i guess she would use it all up in like a week.  actually this is kind of hard!  i think it is because i talk to my parents approximately never.  i know my mom likes jewelry, but i have no idea what kind so i'd probably buy her something she'd hate.  i think i'd get my dad an ipod or a zune or something, because he has a lot of old cds he loves but never gets to listen to because he hates fucking around with cds and can't find half of them and just never bothers, and i think he'd be a lot more inclined to listen to music if he had one.  ACTUALLY........... i might just do this now after thinking about it, so who knows.  he'd love it for sure.  but then i'd feel guilty about not getting my mom something and fuck man i do not want to spend $400 randomly out of nowhere.

That's actually a good question, and one that I haven't given much consideration yet. I am gonna get something for some friends and family this Christmas. I'm gonna be getting my mother a PS2 and the new Tiger Woods PGA Tour game, she loves golf >>; I don't mind it but gawd, ITS SO FUCKING BORING!
A few years back I got my old man a shirt saying "I beat Anerexia" (don't know if that's spelt right.) Just as a laugh, and he loved it, I'm getting him a few more hilarious shirts, but can't think of main gift, I got a lot of gifts for mother last year, and gonna concentrate on the old man this year.

As for my roommates (friends) I don't know what I should get... (should get my jobless one, another cake saying "GET A FUCKING JOB!" I did it before, and I'll do it again. >:3

Mom: Some Lotions and a skin cleaner which I can't mention for some reasons due to the fact that the name is some weird spanish skin name.
Dad: A new baseball bat and Super Mario Galaxy(He is obsessed with Mario games)
Young brother: Mario and Luigi superstar saga( I don't remember if this was for DS or GBA)
Big Brother: Some used socks and a lollipop.
Neighbor: This guy is like a bigger brother for me, so I'll be giving him my sidekick 3.( If I get my iPhone of course)

I'm getting a new mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson K850i. It's like the iPhone... but better and cheaper. Also other assorted gifts, like DVDs and CDs. Not sure what yet.

I'm getting my brother Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, and possibly a game, and I'm getting my mom's boyfriend an Italian cookery book. Not sure about what to get anyone else.

I usually don't get gifts for people because I a) don't have much money and b) don't know what to get anyone, but both of those things have changed this year.  The only person I'm getting a gift is my mom, but we usually just do gifts for immediate family anyway, and that's only the four of us.  My brother is getting something for my dad, and I finally came up with something to get for my mom, so it evens out pretty well.

I got my mom a really nice copy of Singin' in the Rain on DVD, and even though it'll come in a bit later than I expected (but still in plenty of time for Christmas) I've also gotten her the record of the soundtrack.  Her and my dad both love to buy old records, so I thought this would be a good combination.  The two times we've watched that movie together on TV, she would talk about how much she loves it and how she used to watch it all the time as a kid, so it just seemed like a great idea.

As for me, I'm pretty sure I'm getting an Xbox 360.  I don't know what else I might get, especially since my birthday is next week so I'll be getting presents all over the place the next few weeks.

Books:
A few colour psychology and cinematography books and some Philip K Dick
DVDs:
Happy Together, Little Red Flowers, La Haine (ultimate), Oldboy (american 3-disc), Paradise Now

And a bottle of Sambuca.

Sambuca involved, this will be a kick ass christmas.

Don't you guys think it kind of ruins the surprise of Christmas if you know what you're getting?  I usually make a big list of things I can think of and I'm happy to get one or two things from it, but I usually get stuff that wasn't on my list; most of which are pretty good gifts.

I'm giving my mom, the Zelda game of the DS, my step-dad, a Dale Jr. figurine, and my brother a new optical mouse.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting, but I know I'm getting the new Coheed Album (I had to pick it out for my parents...)

I'm hoping for a few Wii games since I have a very small collection and I'm really stuck on Guitar Hero 3, and have no desire to play Manhunt 2, Super Paper Mario, or Red Steel.

I really want to get my girlfriend something for christmas. It can't be expensive or impractical, because she really just wouldn't want that. I was thinking about some kind of clothes, maybe some underwear or something. I think she would really like Arrested Development so I was thinking of getting her Season 1 on dvd.

Other than that I don't think I'm giving/getting anything. I was going to get my brother his own copy of wow, and transfer his character over to his account so we can play together, but he doesn't have a job so I'd have to get him a playcard too so I guess I might do that, but not sure.

This christmas is going to be weird, because for the first time I don't have anywhere really to go. We used to all go to my aunt's house in california, because everybody was close to it and also all my friends are there, but my aunt moved so we aren't going there, and I don't really want to go anywhere at all. Hm.

But yeah I'm really trying to think hard about something to get my girlfriend but its gotta be something good. No jewelry or anything expensive because seriously she doesn't want that at all. Hm...

I got a new phone today as an early christmas present (I knew I was going to get one when my dad randomly said "HEY IF YOUR PHONE ISN'T WORKING TODAY DON'T WORRY THAT PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED SHORTLY") but there isn't that much else I want. Maybe and external hard drive, but I got most of the stuff I wanted from my birthday last month.

I'm probably going to get my brother some video game or another, and he will likely do the same for me. I don't know what to get my mom or my dad yet though, generally I don't really decide until I get to the store.

Honestly, I don't even really want anything. It would be nice to get some clothes, a bottle of cologne, and some money, but other than that, I'm good. I mean, I could go on and on with a list of stuff that would be nice to have, but when it all comes down to it, I don't really want anything. As long as my brothers and sisters have a good Christmas, that's good enough for me.

As far as giving things, I'm not sure. I know what my family likes, so I'll just play it by ear as the days roll on. I'm pretty good with gifts for my family.

I gave my grandmother a moderately priced golden rosary with a golden box, since she is the religous type. My mother a 40$ gift certificate, my father a panini grill, my brother; Super Mario Galaxy - I'm sure he'll love it as much as me; should he ever make time to play it. Lastly, for my brother's wife; a new cat scratching post that seems to be lost in the nexus of Fedex's incompetence.

My brother has yet to come over to exchange gifts, but Im hoping he bought me a Nostromo N52te; something I have been going on about for quite some time.

Among one of my gifts was a Radio Shack card, and let me tell you, you can't buy SHIT with one of those.  I bought a battery for a 3-4 year-old 2ghz cordless phone and spent about 28 dollars.  (Card was only 30 USD)

$170, Ugly Green Sweater, Cool Striped Sweater (from Express), Gloves, Sunglasses, Chair-thing, Case for my laptop, and the notebooks of Albert Camus ​). Oh and I got an iPod nano too. I wanted a Wii but didn't even try to ask for one, they're STILL impossible to get.

I actually think I did pretty good things Christmas. I got scarves and gloves for my mom, sweater for my brother, OSU stuff for my grampa, and some nice things for my friends.

So for christmas I got my family a board game cause we are a family that plays them. For my girlfriend I still haven't gotten anything yet because I haven't had time. For Christmas I got a Dell inspiron 1521, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii, Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii, a wii zapper, a roll-up piano, a razor kit thing, a necklace, like $150 cash, some gift cards, and I am pretty sure that is about it. I was hoping for at least one WoW time card but I have money to buy one. :woop:

Since I'm moving out, my family mostly gave me piece of crap furniture that none of them every use as an excuse to spend nothing on me, but inclusive I got a fair bit of chocolate too which wasn't too bad.

I bought my girlfriend a 4GB Ipod Nano since she only has a shuffle, and it's actually mine anyway.

hmmm, what else?

Clothes, underwear and deodorant, my family like sending across very distinct messages about how I live.

A good friend of mine and I ran all over town futon shopping for me yesterday. We were at his house later in the day looking on craigslist and found one and picked it up that night. When we brought it to my house he's all "Merry Christmas!" and just left before I could pay him back for it.

It looks like I got a post Christmas haul this year. I got a box set of Cool Water cologne, some clothes, some money, and possibly a PSP. I'm getting all these via after holiday sales, but I'm grateful as hell because I thought I wasn't going to get anything.

I got a bunch of money, new quilt/quilt cover/pillows for my bed, a mattress cover thing (very comfy), set of awesome weights, bottle of Absolut, music store voucher, Hilltop Hoods DVD, bunch of coffee beans and I'm pretty sure my friend is getting me World In Conflict for PC also.

Also got some awesome jeans from holiday sales.

I got some money, a dvd of Leon: The Professional, a complete car care kit for my Porsche, a set of towels, a DKNY sweater, comfy slippers, and a $50 gift card to Trader Joes (for those non Americans here, it's sort of a organic/cultural food store)

I gave a Sirius Radio Reciever, lots of TJ's gift cards, and a bedding set.

I gave out a few gift cards and a few other smaller things.

I recieved a bunch of clothes, a fair bit of money, had one of my debts paid off, some 360 games, far too much candy. For me it was a pretty good Christmas. :)
