So, while I'm overseas doing oversea stuff, guess what comes in the mail back at my house 3,000 miles away from my current location?
Nicholas Gurewitch's The Trial of Colonol Sweeto and other stories and Jhonen Vasquez' Jellyfist. Both of these books I have patiently waited for a long time (I had Jellyfist preordered almost 2 years in advance). They're both first editions and being the rabid fanboy collector I am, I'm pretty proud of this because Dark Horse only printed about 5,000 or so copies of the first run. I asked my sister to take pictures of them so here ya go!
Anyways, Colonol Sweeto is a collection of comics from Gurewitch's website. My sister's never read the comic before, but rumors/information state that it's basically a mix of old favorites, old favorites that were taken off the website at one point or another, and a bunch of new comics that directly tie into the book's title.
I could have sworn everyone on this website loved this shit so I'm surprised you guys aren't talking about it!

I haven't heard shit about Jellyfist AT ALL even by SLG since it was announced... I just wanted it because I collect EVERYTHING Vasquez. From the screenshot I got, it's Vasquez's standard "lol weird" affair yet it retains his subtle air of "wise stupidity" where the plot is incredibly dumb yet is filled with intelligent or satirical overtones. Despite it's simplicity, I really enjoy this Goldberg fellows art style. It's disturbingly disgusting and surreal which is all good in my book.

In other news, Kazuo Kuibushi's epic Amulet is scheduled for release next month. Although the original release date was January 1st, Kuibushi dropped the hint that it might be launched early due to the incredibly high preorders. The paperback edition is already on its second print due to the schoolastic book club orders. I had my hardcover copy preordered a couple months ago so it's not too late to buy it off of Amazon before it dries up! If you perorder the hardcover, you'll get it for 14 bux which is pretty cheap for a 200 page graphic novel.

Finally, to round off this huge post, I'm also finishing up my book! YAY! It's called Girls With Hammers and it's about two girls with opposite points of view who learn that by violently beating things with hammers they can better comprehend what they don't understand. It's a kids book with brightly colored pictures! I'll be posting the entire thing online once I get a website going and there'll be a small run of prints that'll go out to my friends and anyone on GW for free. I'll probably make a hardcover edition for a small donation of 10 bux but I'm getting ahead of myself. No screenshots or anything yet, but the release date is sometime in December.

Why does this have no replies? I was under the impression that PBF was kind of a cult favorite around here. Anyway, I picked up the book (at my local comic shop, surprisingly) and Nick omitted some stuff that I felt should've been in there, but overall it is a good package, I think.

It's definately something I would be interested in checking out, PBF is probally the only online comic I ever bother with.

Oh man, this is a book I must own. I wonder if I can even find it anywhere in Finland? Probably not, huh. :sad:

The book is 15 bux, about 100 or so pages, full color, and hardcover so I think it's a pretty good steal.

I managed to find one store in Finland that sells this. It was sold out because of high demand however I have reserved 1 copy when they get more! Hooray!

Arg... If only I had more money to toss around these days. I really want that "Colonel Sweeto" PBF book, for sure!!
I also really want the second collection of Moomin comics that Drawn and Quarterly have released in a collection (http://www.drawnandquarterly.com/shopCatalogLong.php?st=art&art=a43cd43019761a). Got the first one already... As much fun as going back to college is... I do miss the $$ that I got back when I worked full time.
