Jackie Chan And Will Smith Teaming For A KARATE KID Remake?[/size]
Could be. Han Sanping of China Film has been quoted talking up some projects he’s trying to set up in co-production with Hollywood studios and top of the list is a would-be remake of The Karate Kid. If Han’s plan comes together Will Smith’s son Jaden will take the lead with Smith playing the primary villain and the Pat Morita role being taken by either Jackie Chan or Stephen Chow. With this sort of set up the project would be retitled The Kung Fu Kid.
Now, this is all in discussion stages, so nothing is definite but Han and China Film also have a hand in the upcoming Snow and the Seven which is set up and getting ready to go so he’s not just blowing smoke. I can’t for the lfie of me imagine that Chow - a very proud man and one of the biggest stars in the world - would ever consent to do something like this but Chan has proven very willing to take on jobs just for the paycheck in recent years so that particular configuration actually seems pretty likely. Also in the works is Tai Chi Tiger to star Keanu Reeves and Yuen Wu Ping protege Chen Hu.
I can only see this as Will Smith going "Hmm, this is a good film, maybe I can put my son in there".
Man, who cares if Chan or Chow get attached to this, it's not going to make this any better. It's just cheap. rrr.

wait
what
JACKIE CHAN AND WILL SMITH'S KID
HOW DOES THIS EQUAL KARATE KID
-
Well... Karate master teaches young incompetent kid to become karate master? I think you guys have too many movie predjudices. Relax and and try to enjoy it. I realize Karate Kid is something a lot of us grew up with, but it isn't like it's a golden globe winning classic film about ANYTHING really. It's about a geeky kid that is able to learn something to turn on his bullies and get the girl.

In my own personal opinion the original karate kid movie was a piece of shit. It was a horrible film.
-
Sure was. Anything would be a step up at this point, and I'm not just saying that as a fan of Stephen Chow. I won't be the same without Pat Morita (which was the original's only redeeming factor), but I can't say that I would have cared either way.

Personally, this scares me more than a Karate Kid remake.
Also in the works is Tai Chi Tiger to star Keanu Reeves and Yuen Wu Ping protege Chen Hu.

Black people have always made the best Karate masters. (No racism/stereotypes intended)
If this does get made, I can't wait to see this. Seriously.
Except that fact that everything Asian is now turning into something "white".

Fucking hated the old Karate Kid movies. Fucking love Jackie Chan and Will Smith. Therefore, I fucking look forward to seeing this movie.

EDIT: ^^ Punk beat me to it. ^^
So we might get to see Will Smith and Chan in a karate movie. That's a problem how?

I can only see this as Will Smith going "Hmm, this is a good film, maybe I can put my son in there".
The talks about Will Smith's son as the main character was shot down some time ago (when Will Smith's involvement was first announced). Of course it might have come up again, I haven't been following this closely.
-
I'm excited about this, if only because it opens up the remote possibility of Will Smith doing a rap cover of "You're the Best" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fWvub_WBho).
-
The original Karate Kid was pretty gay so this couldn't be any worse
-
I'd watch it.
But then again, I have this problem; I'm unable to hate movies.
