Hummmm...the last RPG that I can remember was back in May Of 2007: Tales Of The Abyss For PS2, which I thought was kind of...um...boring, plus I was really busy and didn't have any major time for it.
The last RPG I finished and beat was: Tales Of Legendia back in October of 2007...which was a surprise, it was better then I thought.
So when was the last time you guys played a RPG? I do admit...I'm getting a bit bored of RPG's, unless it has to do with anybody's games here, I rather venture somewhere else...
Anyways...hop to it men! And ladies! ^^
-
the witcher, didn't beat it. I don't remember the last time I beat a game (maybe two worlds?)
-
I've actually been going back over older RPG's at the moment, just for some fun.
I'm playing FFX through and doing some stuff with the expert sphere grid (Yuna on Auron/Tidus's path, Kimhari on Lulu/Rikku's etc) for fun, and playing through Lufia II again (mainly to finish the Ancient Cave which I've now done, but also just because I loved it the first playthrough and would like to go through the storyline again).
I'm planning to finish Digital Devil Saga after I've done those two.
-
If MMORPGs count: World of Warcraft
If they don't: Final Fantasy XII.
-
The last RPG I played was Oblivion. Just an hour ago or so. I'm halfway through Shivering Isles, and I beat the Main/Fighter/Thieves/DarkBrotherhood/Mages quests. I like completing quests quickly with my 255 speed, acrobatics and stuff (Cheat mods... I can't get away from them). Too bad the Shivering Isles quests tend to take longer to complete. I like using mods to get nice looking hair, weapons, armor and other modifications for my character.
The last RPG I beat was FF6. Not a bad game, but things like the 2 team dungeon and slow spell learning kinda bored me. I eventually cheated in that too. Too bad only Mog could use the Moogle charm.

That's one game I need to actually beat! I manage to beat it because my game suddenly froze up, and when it finally stopped, I had max Gem Boxes and I forget that item to make all your spells cost 1 MP. I also had max Elixir's, which made the game VERY EASY!!! I had a whole slew of Level 40 characters, except for Cyan, Locke and Terra who I just started building into Level 65 Ultima casting machines, lol!!! Kefka was so darn easy!!! I still used Mog to skip battles, lol...I still don't know what happened, but I'm glad in a way.
I would for one would love to play Twilight Princess again, it was so fun!!! It was kind of weird for me to stop playing a Zelda game after finishing a dungeon...oh and my dad got Wild Arms 5, something that I would like to watch and help him out. :)

If MMORPGs count: World of Warcraft
If they don't: Final Fantasy XI.
You mean 12?
Also World of Warcraft, I can't remember the last non MMO I played
-
Earthbound.
Since all my classic games are portable, I play them in 30 minute time frames. If the roms don't count, then I believe it would be
Final Fantasy XII.
My next game on the list to play is Mass Effect.
-
It's technically pure RPG, but Deus Ex 2. I didn't like it too much. It didn't run very well on my system, and it was a little slow. (Gameplay slow, not performance.)
-
Last Game I played was Valkyrie Profile or was it Yggdra Union
-
FF12, couldn't beat it because of how god awful the leveling up and battle system was.
-
Persona 3, I think. I'm about halfway through the game.
-
im playing final fantasy 8 and before that i was playing kotor 2
-
FF12, couldn't beat it because of how god awful the leveling up and battle system was.
Man...I played FF12 for about 65 hours and then my 3 year old brother completely wiped my PS2 memory card, taking out Valkyrie Profile 2 and KH2 pre-final boss saves with it, as well as the FF12 one. Ever since, I haven't been able to get myself to replay that huge part I already did. What exactly didn't you like about the battle/leveling up system though?
(By the way, I love that signature under your avatar. It makes me feel happy.)
On-Topic: Last RPG I played was probably Rogue Galaxy. Very mediocre RPG but I got through it just because I was so close to the end before I realized that it was just a "meh" game. Before that it was Valkyrie Profile 2, which sucked pretty bad compared to the first. Got to the end of it but never finished it due to the whole memory card wipe issue.
-
legend of legaia maybe.. lol, I dno't have new rpgs on my shelf.
-
The Witcher, it ran pretty badly on my system though
I really want to play something western RPG!!
-
Diablo 2
-
Mine would probably be Final Fantasy XII.
I would have said Blue Dragon, but we can hardly call that an RPG now can we (damnit Mistwalker, you're supposed to make games better than Square Enix!).
-
Pretty sure it was Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (psp). It was really fun but fairly tedious.
-
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP haven't completed it yet either...
-
I don't really know. I usually play an rpg for a few hours, start another rpg, play for a few hours,
start another rpg, play for a few hours, and continue the first. Repeat process.
I guess... Either Grandia or Tales of Symphonia. These two I actually finished more than once.

xenosaga 3
-
xenosaga 3
i need :(
I started playing FFT's remake on PSP two weeks ago or so. I have played Final Fantasy 9 and Jeanne d'Arc recently as well. I got my PS2 back yesterday so I'm going to be replaying Suikoden 3 soon!
-
Mass Effect, I just bought it today. For those who are contemplating buy it, I would suggest it since it is a great game.
-
I'm not sure what the last RPG I played was, but I was planning on starting Shenmue today. Unfortunately I don't know where my roommate keeps her TV remote, so I can't switch over to the input...
-

Xenosaga 3 is easily the best in the series. by far. it's so much more improved over the first two
-
i need :(
It's really good and probably costs about $20 now.
Mass Effect was the last RPG I played. The last more conventional RPG I played (some people get in a tizzy about calling Mass Effect an RPG because it as a crosshair WHATEVER) was The Witcher. Both are excellent, but Mass Effect is the best of the two.
-
Currently replaying Paper Mario 1 and 2.
Last RPG I beat... I think was Valkyrie Profile 2 a month or so ago. I got into the Ratchet and Clank series after that.
-
FF3DS. Still havent beaten it :/
-
Revenant Wings.
I don't like how they seemingly lowered the targeted age of players for this game, but other than that, it's probably the best Final Fantasy game to date, gameplay wise. Everything is streamlined and looks great. Enemies can be hard to target with clustered, but your units luckily auto-attack.
Rings of Fate.
Kinda stopped playing it because I want to experience the story in a language I can comprehend, but it's still a fantastic game and yet another testament to how much power there is to draw out of the NDS.
FFTA2.
Didn't play it a lot because it's too text heavy, but seems a lot like FFTA. But I am looking forward to playing it in English.
FFT: The Lion War.
The story, dialogue and FMVs are all mindblowingly fantastic. Yet the difficulty and slow gameplay makes it annoying to play, so I didn't complete it.

I didn't like it because it mimiced an MMO's battle system far too much. It was as if I was playing FF11 again; and that is a time in my life I want to forget.
"Gambits" the whole auto attack thing, and the ability board were the worst offenders. There are far better ways of promoting unique character growth than having a blank checker board and telling the player "spend points on stuff and maybe you'll get something good".
-
Final Fantasy VII (I'm trying to get psyched for Crisis Core).
-
I've been playing a few games that kind-of-but-not-really qualify as RPGs lately, like Paper Mario, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones all in the past month.
The last REAL RPG I've played is Earthbound over the summer, and it's also the last RPG I've beaten.
-

Yeah, it reminded me of FFXI as well. I kinda wish FFXI's battle system was like FFXII's. It'd have been much better that way. I hated Gambits as well, but I got fast enough in XII to be able to control all of my characters pretty decently in tough fights, so it wasn't that big of an issue for me. I usually only used 3-4 gambits...one to attack the party leader's target, one to use healing spells, and one to use items if the character was out of MP. The license system wasn't that bad either. It was very easy to gain points and fill out the entire board (especially later in the game with that double AP accessory). It's true that you didn't know what was where exactly, but there was some order to it so if you wanted spells for example, you knew which direction to go in.
-
Last rpg I played was oblivion, and last one I beat was FF6 only a few months before that. Not many good RPGs have come out recently imo, but I'm starting to get back into FPSes anyways.
-
Mass Effect.
-
Shadow Hearts: Covenent, it was ALOT better than I expected. I wanna play its prequels & sequel now. I think my next RPG will probably be Wild Arms 3. I've also been playing Oblivion on XBox 360 since the Game of the Year version came out. This is probably the best RPG I've ever played. I'm near 200 hours & I've still got things to do (not counting the fact that I haven't even been to the Shivering Isles yet) but you know what? It's so fun I don't even care.

dont do it. on its surface wild arms 3 look like it'll be fun but it soon becomes boring as hell.
-
FFXII is the last one I played, although in the last week I've played FFXII, FFXII:RW, Super Paper Mario, FF6, Puzzle Quest (RPGish), and probably a couple more I can't remember at 12:30 in the morning...I like playing a lot of games at once.
-
Super Paper Mario,
WANT SO BAD
although it's not an RPG anymore, it's a platformer.
-
Mother 1+2 (Not the GBA remake, but both games emulated on PSP in their original formats) where the most recent RPGs I finished.... though I did just get the 360 version of Oblivion with the expansions (since I finally got another 360) and have started playing that.
I have many slated for PSP though. The games range from Snes, to PS1, to original PSP games.
-
FF12 - This morning
I'm trying to force myself to beat it so I can move on other stuff. But Jesus, 45 hours and still nothing interesting has happened.
And I hate those 5 little things that gang up on you after you get the key to that cave. I didn't know there was going to be a boss fight there, and they completely wiped the floor of me. I tried again today, and I managed to have killed one, but...
And I so want Persona 3. Hopefully I'm getting it this X-Mas.
-
Playing Neverwinter Nights 2, and replaying KOTOR II again.
-
Hmm... if we go by last game beat... Dragon Quest 7. (Chrono Trigger but i'm not countin' that one beat that one too many times.) I'm playin' Disgaea for my PSP... (waiting for Tales of Destiny 2 for the PSP to come in... should be in on monday.)
-
I picked up Suikoden V and FF12 again, so those are the last I've played.
The last one I beat was probably like KOTOR2 or something :/
-
Probably Persona 3 about three months ago. I can't find the time to sit down and play many RPGs these days. Interesting RPG, but a little odd, to be expected from an SMT title.
-
Oblivion expansion came out a couple days ago for the PS3. Fucking bought it and beat it the first day it finished downloading.
-
I just play the two Kotor's and currently I am playing Eschalon: Book I (http://basiliskgames.com/book1.htm) on pc and homebrew SotN on my PSP if you count that.
-
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, if that counts (strategy RPG in my book)
KotOR I otherwise
-
Persona 3
-
Why all the hate towards FF XII, It was by far the best I've played in my opinion. It has one of the few stories I can legitimately enjoy in the FF series. Plus, the gambit system works wonders later on in the game. It helps a ridiculous amount and saves me from those last minute bad choices. The leveling system is awesome to, but then again, the main reason I play it is because of how much you can do on the game. I love to explore and this game definitely provided it. This little rant should be a hint as to what RPG I'm currently playing. But I'm also started playing KH 1 & 2, and I just picked up Unlimited saga, haven't played it enough though.
-
Vandal hearts for the PSone on a emulator. if that doesn't count then I don't remember. it has been a long time.
-
I need a ps2 to play all the awesome exclusive releases (mainly FF, KH, and God of War). :tsk:
-
Right now I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, it's been pretty great so far.
-
Last RPG I played was Folk Lore. Pretty cool ending.
Right now I'm playing through Persona 3 which is oddly addicting; I love it!
-
Xenogears! On the crappy second disc! Yay!
Refused Chaos: That is the awesomest avatar ever. Okage ftw!
-
Been playing Puzzle Quest on 360 alot lately. It's really fun. A cross between puzzle and rpg.
-
Kotor 2.
Rented it, beat it in 4 days. That one was so easy compared to the original it was sad.
-
The last rpg I've been playing was Valkyrie Profile 2, but the last rpg I played was Kingdom Hearts 2 (finished the game again).
-
Last RPG I played was Danzarb, last RPG I beat was Grandia 2 (I think)
-
The last RPG I beat was Tales of the Abyss. I enjoyed the beginning of it with the main character(forgot his name) being a stuck up bastard all the time. But I hated how he ends up getting all emo at the end. The RPG I'm currently playing is Rogue Galaxy but I haven't had the time to play it lately because school. I made it to Planet Alisia but I think that's just a sidequest...
-
Last RPG I played was Shadow Hearts 3 because i'm the kind of fag that plays jrpgs here and there.
But my memcard got fucked over by armax when I was at the endgame... so needless to say I gave up.
-
Been playing a lot of Rogue Galaxy. Trying to beat it at the moment. I never finish any of my RPGs though. I was playing FF12 frequently, but I just gave up on it. I might start over on it...but I don't feel like it.
-
D&D 3.5

I'm in the process of playing FFXII, but it's so boring and dull that I'm forcing myself to play it at this point. I don't see what's so special about the plot, the plot is one of the worst aspects of the game.

Yeah the plot sucked to me too but I still found the game to be good because of the amount of exploration usually not seen in JRPGs & the gameplay (I found it to be alot more fun if you only use Gambits for repetitive tasks & do everything else manually). I wouldn't put it up there with FFVI or even VII but it was definately better than FFX.
-
The last RPG game I've played was a while ago called "Project1" running under RPGVX.
-

Isn't RPGVX not out until february?
-
I don't remember, it was either Suikoden V or SaGa Frontier. I just beat Suikoden V, and I just beat Red's game on SaGa and I'm starting Asellus.
-
Isn't RPGVX not out until february?
The Japanese demo is out now.
-
The last RPG I played would be Breath of Fire 2, I guess, but that's already six weeks ago. I'm going to play Tactics Ogre if I can get it to run properly.
The last real RPG I played was Arcanum. I would have been playing this for the last six weeks if it weren't for the fact that it gives me an error every time I try to save. I've tried reinstalling it, patching it, reinstalling and patching it, but it didn't help. I love that game, even though I never made it past Tarant even before the save bug cropped up.

I thought the plot was excellent. To me it felt alot more clear and alot less "OMG I HAS A SWORD!!!!999999 DAMAGE!!!!". I thought Vayne was an excellent antagonist and the whole story to me felt alot more open and alot less anime-ish( I swear, every time I play FFVII and VIII, I feel like I'm watching a godamn anime) To me the whole aspect of the game really took me by surprise. The fact that the story didn't revolve around Vaan but was merely being seen from his point of view really cought my attention. I honestly felt that every aspect of this game surpassed anything I expected. To be fair, I honestly thought that Square was just going to cave in and make FFVII part2. I am ridiculously happy that they decided not to. I would personally place it way above FFVII, but VI is still above this game in story. Gameplay wise, this game for me definitely made me happy. I have to agree with you on the exploration factor. The world on this game feels so vast and alive, I just can't stop playing this game. Seriously, Well over 100 hours. Each to his own I guess. [/rant]
I just picked up Unlimited Saga, I haven't really played it that long but it seems really confusing.
-

Now by "real RPG" you mean "played with dice on a tabletop?" =P
Soul Nomad for me. I don't know if I like it quite as much as the usual Nippon Ichi fair. Some of the concepts are pretty neat, but I like having more control over my individual units than that....it's part of the reason I never got into Ogre Battle even though I loved Tactics Ogre.

Those are some very good points all of which I'm gonna have to agree with you on (although I like my RPGs kinda anime-ish). FFXII's story was alot less shall I say far-fetched or out there than FFVII's story. I just felt while playing the game like most of the time it was just an excuse to run to the other side of Ivalice.
-

I agree about FF12. Though I still think FF7 has a better story (clearly so), I definitely like FF12's story and the approach to it.
-
Herro.
The rast RPG I prayed was Persona 3.
I'm still playing it... third play-through. Kind of obsessed.
-
i picked up romancing saga again, after digging behind my bureau to find where i had thrown it many moons ago.
i like the game despite how dreadful it is, but i again got stuck at that fucking final boss and have stopped playing the game again.
i cannot learn life lessons apparently!

The final boss is a bastard, is he not? Quick way to defeat him: Get the Overdrive spell and hack away at him.
I actually loaded up Romancing SaGa MS too, because I'm trying to finish the Thief's quest so I can have Dowd as a permanent party member with everyone else do the damn Emperor's Illness quest to get that Fatestone.
-

I agree also, but I did feel FF12's story wasn't fleshed out enough. It seemed a bit incomplete and slow to me.
I finished FFX again and I might do the sidequests so I can have another finished file since my old one got lost, but I'll have to see how bored I get over christmas. Gonna pick up Puzzle Quest for DS asap.
-
Now by "real RPG" you mean "played with dice on a tabletop?" =P
Nah, I'd have used 'true RPG' for that, or perhaps 'genuine RPG'. It's just that I don't consider JRPGs to be RPGs.

My girlfriend and I both have a bizarre and deep-rooted fascination with this game. I like to point out that it's the only traditional jRPG she has ever liked (her favorite games are The Sims, Guitar Hero, Portal, and The Adventures of Lolo), and the other day she asked me if there would ever be a sequel. I'm well aware that it's a terrible game by all conventional metrics, but I look at its game mechanics sort of the same way I look at Cubist paintings.
I was stuck at the final boss for a long time, too. The game scales all random encounters to about your level, but the bosses have a static power level. A lot of people get stuck at the end boss because they can get *to* him without any trouble (the random enemies in the end area are scaled to your level) but then the boss himself is ultra-powerful. Awesome final battle with awesome music though.

If I'm not mistakened but wasn't Romancing SaGa: MS a remake of Romancing SaGa 1 on the Super Famicom? If so then there was a Romancing SaGa 2 & 3 as well. I know that there's a rom of 3 translated into english but I'm not sure about 2. There's also SaGa Frontier 1 & 2 for PS1 & Unlimited SaGa for PS2 all of which I know were atleast released in America.

Yeah, but its just a matter of getting into the final dungeon that's difficult (the field around Isthmus Keep or whatever, and the short cave walk to the Gate), because the enemies in Quietus are like, the only ones in the game that don't chase you)...
If I'm not mistaken, but wasn't Romancing SaGa: MS a remake of Romancing SaGa 1 on the Super Famicom?
Yes. Primary differences between the PS2 and SNES versions include the fact that in the PS2 version, roughly 80% of the screen is covered in menus during battles (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b291/ichigofrost/rsbtl.jpg), while in the original version went slightly more minimalistic (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b291/ichigofrost/rs1btl.jpg).
I actually hope they do remake Romancing SaGa 2, at some point, because its easily the best in the series. And hopefully, they'll fix some of the problems in the original version (Like... actually being able to dismiss party members instead of having to kill them off to get them off the team).
-
OK now the last RPG I played was "Mother 3." I just beat it yesterday. What an awesome game... I can't wait to play it again, although I guess I'll wait until the English patch comes out.
I bought the PS2 remake of Romancing SaGa when it first came out. I don't think I played it very much at all... but then one Summer it became my "game of the Summer" so I played it through three times or so. I don't even remember who as. Grey! Who else... Albert, I think. Now I'm on Sif... don't know if I ever finished Barbara.
I thought it was decent once I got accustomed to it. I also have the player's guide. If I didn't have that, I probably would have never gotten into it.

The last RPG I played was the one everyone is now talking about : Romancing SaGa for the PS2. I like it, though I wish I had more of an idea of what to do @.@
I hope that either 1, 2 and 3 are re-made for some portable system or 2 and 3 are fully remade like RS1 for a newer console.

My last RPG was Suikoden III. I just picked it up, and I'm about 5 hours into it. Not a bad game at all; the Trinity Sight system is awesome.
-
Last rpg I played was Enchanted arms, it was ok.
-
All the talk about Romancing Saga had me want to go and play it again. And...well, I did. I started up my Romancing SaGa 3 file again. I managed to get pretty far before I stopped playing for tonight.

I think she wants a game similar in style to Romancing SaGa on PS2, and not a retro SNES game with an unofficial fan patch. My girlfriend and women in general are more interested in aesthetics and style in their games and are pretty indifferent to actual game mechanics, so I don't think she would really appreciate Romancing SaGa 2 on an emulator.
Also, the remake is barely the same game at all, anyway.

Anachronox.
I gave in and played it after Hundley etc praised it so much.
Its what Final Fantasy would be like if it was actually good and not horribly cliche! Also it has rather clever and interesting dialogue too.
I love it!

I've been playing Seiken Densetsu 3, a real gem lost at sea...
-
World of Warcraft :(
-
Chrono Trigger. I enjoy replaying the game every once in a while.
-
Breath of Fire III. It's a classic, and it's pretty nostalgic. All in all a solid game.
-
i've been playing legend of legaia for psx, one of my fav rpg's of all time. even though the sequel was only a few levels above shit, i hope the make another game in the series.

Just played Romancing Saga. Fun in small doses.

Oh yeah, aside WoW, I recently downloaded Wild ARMs from the Playstation Network for my PSP. I didn't get into it when I rented it on PSX way back when, but wow it's pretty nice.

Grandia 3. Got it for Christmas. It's a great game so far, and has a fun battle system.
-
FF9. I bought a 60gb PS3 and I don't own any PS2/3 games. I'm having a lot of fun unlocking everything possible in FF9 though. On Disc 3 right before Terra and I've learned almost all magic/skills and am trying to get money/levels. Zidane's at level 51. I'm probably stronger at this point than when I was playing the game and beating it the first time around. -.-

I just finished FF9 again aswell ( : It's still the best FF i've played to date
Otherwise i got Blue Dragon for the 360 a while back
It's generic as hell which I don't really mind, I guess i prefer rpg's like that, but the boss music more that makes up for it though.

Same.
I told myself I'd never touch this game, but a bunch of my friends got me into it. Level 27 warrior right now...huzzah...or something...
I hate MMOs.

i really really really really wanted to hate it, but this kotor shit is really cool.
the only thing stopping it from being SPECTACULAR is TOO MUCH GEORGE LUCAS
i just wish i bit the bullet and tried this game years ago like everybody said

Kingdom Hearts 2. Bought it 2 days ago. It's a tad easier than the first (except for that Organization 13 Wank with the guitar), but a lot of the systems are improved.
