We're currently considering staffers, so if you think you would be good at quality control or perhaps writing news articles and such, reply to this topic explaining why you'd like to do it. I'm not going to go into detail about what we're going to need as we're still discussion the positions, but you can probably guess what kind of work it would mean. See this as a general interest check if anything!

Am I going to get my position as Resource Uploader back or are you guys STARTING ANEW
-
Well, I expressed interest in doing mailbag if it's revived, or anything of the like including articles.

I can't say for sure yet, so just reply like everyone else have done so far if you'd still like to contribute.

I thought about signing on and writing elaborate pixel art tutorials before, but I don't know how necessary you guys think that may be for the site. If it helps, I was a staffer before for a few months so I'm pretty familiar with the territory.
I just wrote a gamingw article and it is about HOW TO MAKE GAME MUSIC. The site is a lot broader now and not so RM based so I think your elaborate pixel tutorials would be perfect.
ALSO SIGNING UP FOR ARTICLE DUDE. Thanks.
-
I would be very interested in doing quality control when it comes to articles related to RPG Maker, for now.
-
I'm willing to write some articles once in a while. No specific topic, really. They might be about things I notice on a daily basis and feel are COOL or INTERESTING or FUNNY or THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. Hopefully articles that aren't boring and people will enjoy reading.
-
I wouldn't mind doing game reviews again.
-
This is the third time I am saying I am interested.
-
I'd like to write articles now and then, most likely on a variety of subjects including music composition and effective writing for video games. I generally come up with topics to speak on pretty often, so if that sort of content is required on the main site I'd be glad to help out.

I have a truly large assortment (800MB) of graphical resources hanging around on my computer, so I'd be more than willing to contribute them to the Mainsite once it appears again. Depending on how much emphasis is placed on that portion of the site, I may be open to working with the material under a staff position, and likewise I would probably be comfortable supplying Articles on the basic aesthetics of game design and such.
(I suppose I'd be okay at simply moderating the content, too. I'm not really sure how it all works, truth be told. *shrugs*)

Don't you work at WIP's site? Isn't that a BREACH OF CONTRACT or something? (sharing resources tut tut)
-
I'll review games, or articles about demos or recommendations on games or something.
-
You can still write articles, upload resources, and review games without being staff. Being site staff is more of a responsibility if anything to review content being submitted, and contribute content on a regular basis.
If you have an idea for an article to write, write it right now because I can add it to the database so it will be on the site when it goes up.
-
Well in that case, if you have an article submission box and need someone to go through it, I can be an article reviewer and rejecter.
edit: oh shit, I should probably find that old notepad file i have around here from when I went through my share of old GW articles
-
Well Ill prolly do some original resources when I got time, but I don't think that should be a staff position; everyone should be able to just send something they made. A pixel art position could be about judging which sprites get in and which sprites dont, though. But thats prolly the resource masters' job already.
Or unless like, the staff position of pixellar is someone who really has to send out pieces weekly (or something of that sort). I mean it would be a good way of making sure there is always a constant stream of original pieces up. Unless its not really deemed important, and that rips from commercial games are enough (they often are anyways, there is so much of it out there...)
Or unless the position is even more general, like someone who does pixel tutorials, original resources, and also organizes things like resource drawing competitions and the like. But would this still be in the scope of gamingw? Also this would make the job even more demanding, so itll be harder to find someone to fill in the position.
Also, everything I said here could be organized by a normal member just fine and wouldn't need any special privileges to work, so the "staff" position would just be pretty much symbolic...

kan i b admin plz
(sorry I had to)
-
I'd be interested in doing something for the site :O, articles, reviews, sumthin
-
i highly doubt you guys will choose me buuuuuut...
i would love to write things. hmm i could write articles about gaming in general pretty well and about things that are going on with the gamer community and stuff. and i wouldn't mind reviewing games; i submitted a few reviews to the mainsite back before it died. i can write about anything, really. and i've grown up with gw and i've been here for a long time, so liiiike i'm pretty dedicated to this community. and well anything else i could say i'm sure you guys would already know because i am HELLO LITTLE GAMER GIRL GW FREQUENT and all that.
and that's why you should vote mkkmypet '08 :fogetcool:
(i'm really tired so try to filter out my nonsense)
EDIT: translation: basically what mori said.
EDIT: i mean dragonx dude what is wrong with me why did i say mori? fffff im tired
-
Don't you work at WIP's site?
Nope.
And I don't see how that has anything to do with this, beyond pure bias. Resources are free to share.
-
I'd be interested in a staff job (game reviews, screenshots, screening, tutorials, whatever else needs to be done).
-

its my superior avatar
-
I would also be interested to contribute articles in some form.
-
You know you can still SUBMIT articles right
-
Its a little incredulous for me to volunteer since I have relatively few posts to prove myself as a "good" member at GW, but I would like to volunteer to control the quality of the article if given the opportunity. I am a meticulous person and responsible for any job at hand.
-
I'd definitely be up for reviewing and approving/denying submitted content. I did it back as staff on Dark Dominion (man that was YEARS ago) and generally have a good, if a bit critical, eye for rating graphical resources. Spotting plagiarized graphics is always fun when people are surprised that they've been caught. Also a pretty good judge of writing so it wouldn't be a problem reviewing articles or tutorials either. It'd also inspire me to contribute my own stuff more often.
-
I might be willing to write articles, but it would depend on the schedule.
-
Hey, so I finished going through articles 451-500 from the old GW. Who do I send it to? Mateui?
-
I'd be interested in writing some articles, but I'm a busy college student and my reliability probably doesn't lend itself to anything regular.
-
I could help out with the editing. I also wouldn't mind doing some articles on current hardware/technologies.
-
I'll submit whatever I can and willing to submit.
So, I can submit resources, articles, etc without being a staff?
I guess that'll be what I'm looking for really. I'd still like to attach my name somewhere on gamingw since I wasted so much of my time here :fogetshifty:.
-
I'll feed the hamster and change its water bottle.
-
Again, I'm willing to help with the game side of things.
-
I'm more than willing to help with news and reviews - I've ran a games website previously for a while (I know everyone has, but this was properly designed and was a .com and blah blah) and I currently do reviews for a few sites; I can get samples if necessary.
A weekly basis would be best for me as I do most of my work at night so if I had to do more frequent updates the timing may be irregular.
-
Would be willing to upload naked photos for use in advertising banners. 4654678989 give me a call xoxo
-
The only position i would be interested in, would be the resources section. Validating resources and sorting through them. I could write the odd review(that don't require staff membership as you have stated) so i don't mind. ^_^
-
I'd really love a chance at accepting/rejecting content. I loved the site back when there was an even share of not necesarilly game-making-related content. Shit that could be used for writing or storytelling in general, like that series about villains (Title of which for some reason I can't remember), articles on fantasy religions, on how to make better characters, all that. And I'd really like it if I help more of that stuff get to the site in any way.
-
guys i am pretty sure you can submit articles so stop saying "i will write you articles". that's well and good but not what they are looking for i am pretty sure!
-
I don't know how content submission will exactly be handled, but I'd be interested in the whole OFFICIAL GAMES UPLOADER or whatever it was that Anonymous Guy originally had. I'll explain in further detail how I could be of help once you brownwings actually know what kind of positions will be available and how they work.
-
When I was a staffer, I updated the main site with freeware games people haven't heard of, projects that needed more attention, and whatever random babble needed to be spit out. You guys know my hectic military schedule, but I'm just saying I'm available...
-
I have no problem with writing reviews and organizing resources. I'm a writer so articles are first hand for me, plus I like playing demos of games so I'm pretty sure I'd get my work done fast.
-
guys i am pretty sure you can submit articles so stop saying "i will write you articles". that's well and good but not what they are looking for i am pretty sure!
I know I was looking to be one of the guys who does the 'OFFISHELL GW REVEWWWW' for each game that gets uploaded, or whatever, to make sure people have an idea of what they can expect from each game uploaded.
-
Interested to contribute, though i have yet to decice what i want to write anyways!
I would want to be a staffer but i'm not so sure how regulary i could do my work (school)
-
I can do whatever when I am here at work. So whatever I could do I wouldn't mind.
-
i'd be interested in doing something for the site.
just letting you know.
-
I'm unemployed and my life is without meaning...
-
I'd be willing to write articles on game design in general.
-
I am quite meticulous is the the organization of my own files. I'd love to sort out other people's crap for a change.
-
I'm interesting in helping out. Writing articles is my forte, especially articles dealing with actual writing (plot, characters, writing style, writing conventions, etc).
-
I could have sworn that I made a post here, but I'm interested in writing articles again.
-
I could be a game reviewer if you want, but I don't really have much experience.
-
Oh man, staff positions.
How long as it been since I ever went to a site that had staffers? Other than news writer though, what do we have that's very useful?
I thought we weren't going to be so RPGMaker oriented this time around.
-
If you've got anything for which you need a guy with no especially useful skills, i'm your man :gwa:
