Title: Stupid Filter!

Basically, some team is developing an algorythm similar to spam detection filters that will detect stupid messages or spelling/phrasing.

4chan exists outside 4chan man, I'm pretty sure he meant 4chan like things like filtering when 4chan'ers say SHOOP DA WOOP on other sites.

Yeah I meant 4chan, as in 4chan humour and everything related to 4chan other than 4chan itself (obviously, if I didn't like the humour of the website, I wouldn't visit it)

I think 4chan should be deleted so its dumb 'humour' doesn't seep out onto other parts of the internet.

So basically if you are using this filter, you cannot access the Internet? Except like 3 sites?

Reminds me of when my school blocked Wikipedia because it was "educational".

I don't think it works like that...
From the example it gives in the actual article (If you read it), it would for example give off a warning when posting an idiotic message on a forum.

If it were able to change the words into more appropriate ones; for example, Gotta to Got to, or Need to.

I could see the point in that but hiding the content just doesn't make sense

I don't think we can survive without the miscelleneous stupid comments or messages. In a way they kinda birhgten my day sometimes, given they are the right kind.

I would love to see this kind of thing implemented on the GameFAQs boards as 80% of their users don't even meet the base requirements for a human, let alone an intelligent one (not that I'm on their boards, but I do read some topics when looking for guides and other stuff).

srsly tho, anyone who actually gets annoyed by this kind of thing on forums or the internet are either too into themselves, or need to take a break from the computer.  Obviously there are exceptions, like if its done excessively or racism, things like that, but thats what moderators are for.  If it's done in moderation on the other hand...

Its called tolerance.  Have some.

Just because we tolerate it, doesn't mean it woudln't be nice to not have to deal with it at all

Yeah I agree.  But the problem really is insurmountable.  Dealing with it is simply inevitable.   I think having a filter like this is nothing short of unnecessary censorship.  If something really needs to be censored, like I said, that is what community moderators are for.

As far as the tolerance thing goes, I really direct that towards the 4chan stuff or things like "srsly thr shld rly be moar filtrs on deez intrnts".  If you let it get to you, yeah its annoying.  But again, insurmountable, it really is easier just to go with it, or ignore it.

I would be all in favor of a racism filter however.

The simple solution is to ban anyone using "lol", "ur" or "ftw" outside of quotation marks. I would assume that would be unpopular though, based off of personal administrative experience.
