Apart from being released in cinemas with I Am Legend, the trailer has surfaced on the interweb.
If you didn't know, this is the newest Batman film (following the line of Batman Begins), and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and pretty much every single every actor of any worth.
Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.
The trailer can be found in giant form here: http://atasteforthetheatrical.com/deathtrap/default.htm
The imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/

Saw this when I went to see I am Legend and wasn't too impressed, but watching it again, I've changed my mind. The trailer isn't anything special, but the movie looks like it'll be pretty good. Probably not better than Batman Begins, but it should be worth seeing.
-
As much as I try, I can't see any trace of Heath Ledger in The Joker.
He plays the role perfectly judging from the trailer at least.
-
the only thing missing from that trailer was "this summer, one man against the odds.."
-
I'm pretty impressed actually and I didn't even like the first one that much..
Joker seems very cool.
didn't like the motorbike though..
-
Michael Caine is seriously amazing as Alfred.
-
i can't believe i'm saying this but holy shit heath ledger looks like he's going to make a great joker
-
Heath Ledger is looking like he's going to be incredible in this film.
-

pretty much this
-
Yeah, he looks very good at that role. This is pretty much the first I've seen about this movie, it looks good. I did like batman begins, it felt really different to all the other (shit) batman films I've ever seen. This looks pretty much like more of the same, I hope it works out that way.
Yeah I doubt it will be breaking any ground or shattering the earth but it'll prolly be a good enough movie
Also I seem to remember that batman begins was relatively remarkable as a big budget blockbuster in that it used no computer graphics at all. Is that right? if it is is this the same?

There is no way this is true. When Batman uses the fear gas on Scarecrow and makes DARK BAT MAN that was definetly computer generated along with a few other things. But in retrospect yeah, it used very little special effects i guess! Also yeah the casting for Alfred is amazing and the make-up work on Ledger must just be INSANELY extensive. He doesn't even look like he has a remotely similar FACIAL STRUCTURE.
What I like about this one is Joker seems to be more insane and sadistic then other jokers. He's not obsessed with getting LOLS or laughing, instead he seems like he uses his Joker guise in a much more dark/ironic way?? i don't know if that makes sense but it is how i feel.

Man Heath Ledger sounds more like Jack Nicholson than Heath Ledger (this is a good thing imo)

Thats what my mom & I both thought too.
Its pretty uncanny.

It's really too bad that Christian Bale is back as Batman though, as he can't act and he looks like a rubber monkey. I hated Batman Begins, but I think about 85% of that was because of Bale....

There HAS to be something wrong with you man.
Batman Begins was a masterpiece and a breakthrough for the superhero film industry. Christian Bale was perfect, Christian Bale was always perfect. Christian Bale was perfect in American Psycho, in 3:10 to Yuma, etc etc etc. Christian Bale is one of the greatest actors of this generation.
This movie looks great, but considering my hype for Speed Racer I ended up SLIGHTLY disappointed. I was expecting alot of overthetop JOKER WANTS TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD stuff.
I really liked the released clip of the first 6 minutes of the film. A bootleg version is up on YouTube.
Also you have an anime avatar.

Bale was actually believable as Bruce Wayne compared to the previous ones. He didn't make the character so flat and uninteresting.
You haven't seen The Machinist have you?

I wish I was a mod so I could ban you. Christian Bale is my fucking hero!
-
Man, Heath Ledger just shit in my pants.

Get the fuck out.
On topic:
The trailer looks really good. I can't wait for the movie to come out.

What everyone else said.

I noticed this too. He's probably doing it on purpose.

Guys.
One of the reasons the film media forum is pretty inactive MIGHT be because like 5 of you jump on some guy with FUCK OFF IF YOU DON'T LIKE BALE.
just a thought.
-
Except Christian Bale is mad cool.
-
shit, I know THAT

Actually, if you can remember the scene when Batman got 'backup' from all the bats? And he jumped down the hallway thing? If you have an even better memory, there was a small short scene where he landed, got up, and walked past several FBI or whatever guys. That was completely computer animated. All the shots of Gotham, pretty much, from a distance... They did build a sizable Gotham set, but for the birds-eye views and such computers were used. Also seeing how the Scarecrow was one of the main villains, and how a good amount of time in the movie was when the entire city was going phobic, I think it's pretty safe to say computer graphics were utilized a good amount! Sorry, just a little useless background knowledge from bored summer afternoons spent watching extra features of movies!
Anyway, I love the trailer. Seriously, it's really cool. The Joker looks great, and Christian Bale looks phenomenal as always (!)... Also, I read that in order for Heath Ledger to prepare for the Joker's scenes and filming and such, he spent an ENTIRE MONTH ALONE in a hotel room! He reputedly watched A Clockwork Orange and read The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House in a Serious Earth comic books that were prime examples of a 'dark' Joker, to prepare himself. More background knowledge!!

If you have an even better memory
Due to a certain life-style choice known for fucking your memory up, well, my memory is fucked up.
I guess I was thinking of something else unless I just remembered someone saying it used SURPRISINGLY LITTLE cg and I'm just getting confused.
-
Christian Bale is the man, but I'm still not convinced he is batman. Heath Ledger, on the other hand, fits the joker perfectly.
I love the feel of this new series of batman movies. Very very dark and murderous insane, than crazy insane.
-
Bale was actually believable as Bruce Wayne compared to the previous ones. He didn't make the character so flat and uninteresting.
You haven't seen The Machinist have you?
i don't agree. he doesn't look very much like batman and he doesn't sound very much like batman, i don't think he's the best actor for the role but batman begins was still pretty good
also the take on the joker is a little too dark, i've always figured the joker had no sense of right or wrong, this joker looks like he knows what he's doing is wrong
-
People are always going to complain about everything no matter what.
I for one think this and Batman Begins are the highest points Batman films can reach.
-
I am very excited for this. Although I really like Bale, I just wish his Batman voice was a little better. Other than that he is really good. As for the Joker, I can't to see more of him, Ledger seems to do much better(like, almost perfect from what I can tell in the preview) than I had anticipated him being.
-

I agree. Begins set the bar so high, and if this is as well executed as that plus uh JOKER then well... Yeah, amazing.
Also is it just me or are the pulling the Joker too soon? Isn't he basically Batman's ultimate villain? I know they are setting up for two face in movie three but still!
-
Wait, wait, wait. How many of these NEW STYLE Batman films are on the cards?
When's mr freeze and poison ivy showin up lol
-
I feel like it will be three. Spider man is stopping there right?
-
I feel like it will be three. Spider man is stopping there right?
No, Spider-Man is still going.
-
While I respect the fact that you all want Christian Bale to do you in the ass (ewwwww =P), I really thought he sucked it up in Batman Begins. I've seen him in some other stuff that he wasn't horrible in, but Batman wasn't one of them. Everytime he tried to sound angry he just sounded constipated, and his bad acting was made even more apparent when put next to Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, & Morgan Freeman.
Guys.

Oh, and this.

Jesus christ this thread went from mildly interesting to a whole load of fanboys masturbating together in one night.
Let's not forget that people have different opinions, and are entitled to them, so deal with it.

If this's true.. that's dedication. I really love Joker in the trailer, but I agree that Christian Bale isn't that good of a batman. At least his looks.. as said, I too think that he looks like some rubbermonkey. As Bruce Wayne he's good, but something with the looks of batman really puts me off. I do like the first movie but every time I see it, the costume of batman really bothers me.
EDIT: I once again watched the trailer, this time batman seems to have a little sleeker look, which is just great.

Yes, thats right from wikipedia.
The best part is, he did all that so he wouldn't have Jack Nickleson's voice when he acted.
Kind of failed in that regard...

Actually The Dark Knight has the Joker as a main villain but also deals with Harvey Dent becoming Two-Face. Like the first movie, it too has kind of a double-villain thing going. (The first movie had Scarecrow and Raz Al Gul.)
-
I saw this before I am Legend, not knowing it was coming up. The action sequences looked amazing, and I'm happy to see Batman on a motorcycle. Since I have total faith in Christopher Nolan, I am positive this movie will rule like the first one.
-
This trailer is pretty meh, but anyone else saw the 6 minute clip that surfaced of the bankrobbing? I watched it in horrible quality but that was pretty rad.
Other than that I agree with climbtree. Joker's appeal has always been that he's completey crazy, and not aware of himself doing bad things. Still, this movie looks like it's gonna kick ass so idk.
edit: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/batman/the-6+minute-dark-knight-bank-heist-trailer-334675.php here it is, although in pretty horrible quality.

Death to the unbelievers!

you bumped it just to say that? just to say something 10 other people already said?
-
But...but I'm Acid...
*masturbates with other fanboys*
It looked pretty good to me expect I heard that there was an Imax preview or something that lasted about 6 minutes....Maybe I'll go watch I am legend just for that? :P
oh and biohazard movies suck balls.

Man, actors are really weird people
Also I'm sure Batman Begins had lots of special effects but Christopher Nolan did do his first movie for like $50 or something. The murder weapon was a HAMMER
-
I agree, Heath Ledger looks great as the Joker. I can't even bitch about how his face isn't full of that insane smile. This take on a completely psycho Joker is awesome. I really can't wait. Batman Begins was pure sweetness. This will follow suit. (So will the next one with Two Face.)
-
I'm noticing alot of haters, namely Jack Nicholson faggets and Marvel faggets around youtube.

Two-Face is in this one as well as the Joker. The Joker is the 'main' antagonist, but it also shows the rise of Two-Face, as he goes from being Bruce Wayne's friend to the criminal that we know him as. So, we see him go from Harvey Dent to Two-Face.
-
For those who don't know, Heath Ledger was found dead today...
I'm pretty bummed about this. I was/am really excited for his potrayal of the Joker, just sad to watch someone who died recently on the big screen in a few months.
From what I know he completed all his filming for the movie so I don't think it will be put on hold or anything, but I guess this rules out any other Joker appearance in future Batman films connected to these two.
What a waste.
-
...ffuck
-
I imagine the movie would end up earnign alot more then expected.
But seriously, this fukin sucks...a waste of talent, and more importantly life.
-
Apparently a drug overdose so... damn you Heath Ledger. So pointless.
It's ironic how people compared him to Brandon Lee because his makeup as the Joker was similar to Lee's The Crow, and then both died before their films were complete.
-
It'd be sad if the movie sucked, which I hope it doesn't =\

I... I can't help but wonder if these events are related...
-
Apparently they are..in a way. It was sleeping pills, he was saying for a few weeks he had to take some as he wasn't getting enough sleep to play as the joker which...is pretty fuking hard spot to fil.
-
Pretty sad stuff. He looks like he'll make a pretty intresting Joker though.
Does anyone else think Batmans bike looks like its straight out of Advent Children?
